we have solved this problem, but created another.problem. the rainbow vacuum has been out for decades. it has no bag, it uses water. 100% of the dirt gets trapped in the water. when done, depending on how much dirt and what kind of dirt you have, you can flush it, or dump it outside. the problem with this is the price. from new to used, a working rainbow will run from $600 to close to $3000. there is no reason for all that greed, it should sell new for about the same as a Dyson.
I'd have thought you would have made your own! A mate of mine got in all sorts of trouble after using his wife's cleaner to suck clean the smoke box on a miniature steam locomotive, apparently, cinders that are still burning will kill most cleaners, so he made his own out of an old compressor receiver.
@harryfaber Yea, I set the filter on fire on my shop vac, cleaning out the pellet stove. Man those things can make a lot of smoke! hahaha. My step son blew one up sucking out a cylinder hole on a 350 Chevy. Guess he sucked some gas through the motor. Nice explosion...
I've had a Dyson for 7 years. Works like a dream and I empty it into the outside bin, therefore no dust or dirt in the house and no buying bags just to throw away. I'd never go back to bagged.
Bagged vacuums of today are not like yesterdays.Todays bagged vacuums use the new synthetic cloth hepa bags. They are vastly superior to the old paper bags. They dont clog up because they have multy layers.. as the bag fills it still breaths normal. No loss of power..They keep the inside of you vacuum spotless and keep the motor clean to last longer.9 out of 10 doctors recommend hepa bagged vacs over baggless.Easiy to change..No touching the dirt..No loss of power. Its a simple choice.
@rpeek I'm sorry.I didnt mean to make you feel bad about your new Dirt Devil..Haha!! Some of them are really good machines as far as cleaning power like the Dyson but..It still is a bagless vacuum thats dirty to empty. No mater what you do your gonna get dirt on you somewhere..I absolutely loved you video!!! You are very funny..Loved the bandjo music in the background:)
@panaclean775 No actually I wasn't joking.. We do feel good about the new vac. Didn't get a dirt devil, but got a good one at sears... Trish loves it.. hahaha.
@panaclean775 Well, my wife picked it out. Of course, what would I know about a vacuum cleaner. If it's not a shop vac, I don't have a clue. It's a "progressive" and it says "hepa" on it.
ahh i remember those days of the bagged vaccums and also how much i hated having to empty one cause the unzipping was fine but figuring out how to get the bag out was a confuzzling thing for me then get dust all over me and here i find out the newer ones toss dust on ya too well dangit dangit dangit cant win with either one sounds like it haha
@bluedanbob I had a few people say that eliminating bags saves trees, but trees are a renewable resource, and they provide jobs for the people that grow them, the people that harvest them, and the people that make products (like vacuum cleaner bags) from them, then we grow more, instead of paving over where they used to be. I say bring back bags!.. hahaha.
I agree, I was thinking the same thing not too long ago when I got a new vacuum.
I think todays vacuums are designed to make you go "Ooo, Ahh" while staring at it on a shelf in a department store rather than actually working worth a damn.
You forgot to mention that you have to "clean" the filter, usually just shaking it isn't enough, you need to blow that puppy out with a minimum of 120psi. Now talk about dirt flying around all over the place!
The other thing is the bags would hold WEEKS worth of vacuuming...... now you got to empty the little 1/2 ounce cup every time you use the thing...and sometimes TWICE before you get done !!!! Stupid stupid stupid !!! Give me my Kirby any day !!!!
@farmall1938 Lol!! Nothing like having a nice clean synthetic cloth hepa bag in your vacuum.Keeps all the dirt in the bag and easy to change out.Plus it doesnt loose power very much because the synthetic cloth breats very easy as it is filled with dirt..Gotta love the Kirby's!!
Go to a vacuume shop and you can get an old Kirby vac you would like it because the have a tranny in them and have 7 forward and 7 reverse gears not to mention you can vaccume up nuts and bolts not hurt the thing go for a old G5 or G6 model if you get one
One time I had this vacuum that had a reuseable canvas bag. The dirt would go in the canvas bag and you'd bring it to the outside garbage and dump it out there.
I see your point, but I still kinda like the idea of saving tree's. But I do see your point.
Just exactly why the Wife and I set our Bagless vac. out for the trash man to pick up and found a real good older model that still uses a bag and we love it ... Love all your videos. Take Care and God Bless ...
YES YES YES. I have been saying that for Years . I Refuse to buy a tunnel vac. Plus PLEASE dont pay over $100.00 for a Plastic VAC . Because its still plastic. Thanks
@walkingfreak How does it eliminate landfill waste? The dirt still goes to the landfill (at least what you can get dumped in the garbage can without it going all over.)
@walkingfreak Which means less jobs for Americans. Trees are a renewable resource. If we don't have a use for the trees we'll cut 'em all down so we can pave over where the used to be and park all the cars the Chinese can ship over here, that are made out of the stuff we used to make....
@walkingfreak Nah.most of the newer vacs use the superior clean synthetic hepa bags that are recycleable..The Hepa bagged vac of today has hardly no loss of power.Filters better that any bagless and is way more sanitary when changing. The material is recycled so its a wash out anyway and its recommended by 9 out of 10 doctors to use the hepa bagged over the bagless.Much healthier.
I have a Rainbow vac. Best damn vac in the world . It uses water as a filter everything gets trapped in the water and when you're done you pour out the water. They aren't cheap , new they're a couple grand but i've seen and bought them at garage sales for as little as $10. bucks( lady didn't know what she had) I sold it later for $500. bucks. Look them up they are great vacs.
Just think of all the paper you are saving by using a bag-less vacuum. Plus you get to use your bag-less to clean up after you make a mess emptying it. Now that's progress and "green" saving the trees....lol
I couldn't agree more, also I am alergic to dust and changing a bag is no big deal, I can't imagine emptying one of those bagless jobs. So what if you don't need to buy bags, they aren't expensive, also those bagless jobbies hava a filter which i bet is more money than a dozen bags. The Walmart near us didn't have our bags in stock, so I found them real cheap on ebay, I bought like 20 of them. They should do one of those youtbe rants on this.
@mustie1 Oh yea I do!!! But I think I usually expect to get nasty when I do that. Somehow, whenever I dump this regular vac, the dirt seems to sneak up on me.. hahaha.
We went from tossing out the bag from a vacuum cleaner that could be fixed - Not needing the bag and tossing out the vacuum cleaner once something broke........ Now that's progress!
try a rainbow and you get to watch your dirt in the water ha ha no dust but not fun in the winter taking dirty water outside just to come back in lol but the moral is they got you to buy one didnt they lol curiosity killed the cat
That there delima is what they call marketing. where some little goof sits arround thinking up stupid ideas to make people think the grass is greener on the other side so they can sell in this case someone with a perfectly good vacuum cleaner a new one:(
there point in bag less was just this ...so you could use your vacuum cleaner more , because after you empty the blame thing , you get to vacuum again to clean up the mess ...then they get to sale you another vacuum cleaner sooner because you wear it out quicker lol
My filterqueen is no better..shes got a filter not a bag..the new filterqueens are built the same way with the same motor they just cost you 1000 plus and still a pain in the as* to empty
well i got e one of then dyson ines and its honkin, i mean all the dirt i clean with it , i wouldnt have the cash to put in new bags and it seams to compact dust with kinda electric charge so it dosent dust more the chengin a bag and i love that it keeps the sucktion continiusly till its full. a good easy construction.DAMN i shouldhave been in commercials ha ha
@justhes Yea, that's really a nasty job. Only way to get it really clean is to blow it out with an air compressor, then you've really got dirt all over you, and everything else in the neighborhood too.. hahaha.
I think you get more suck with a bagless. I know I sure love my Dyson its well worth the money. We vacuumed with out old on first then went over it with the new Dyson and it sucked up twice as much as the old one right before.
we did not throw out the bag.my mom would send us outside with the bag. to pick out the dirt from the bag. so she could reuse the bag. and thats how we saved money.

Write to Sir James Dyson, he's the one who invented the bagless vacuum cleaner and now license his patents too all the vacuum cleaner brands.
