I hope everyone has heard Brian's new solo CD - this tune is on it, though unfortunately, in my opinion, played by solo guitar without whistle or flute - glad this video is here!!
Last of the Starrs is on the CD as well. He wrote it for his grandmother, the last member of the Starr family. I heard Brian play both tunes on a concert at Boxwood in Lunenburg, NS, in July 2008.
hey this is riordanj jsut had to change my name on youtube. Yeah i am a huge fan of flook but i really wish he had some of his oter songs on itunes. Like margas moment and the last of the stars (not sure if that is the name, its been a long time)
I agree! "Last of the Stars" is one of Brian's best tunes, and so beautiful... I wish Flook could've recorded just one more album with the newer stuff before breaking up.... I ripped that tune from one of the KerryWhistles videos, and it's on my iPod... I go to sleep to it...
i saw him live when i was on my bike trip trough nova scotia in this really cool old church. he was on his way to the boxwood folk music festival. he is an incredible musician and i really wish his music was on itunes.
unbelieveble, one of the greatest tunes ever, no exaggeration

@WindyPoplars09 On The Ravishing Genius of Bones, the melody is actually played by mandolin, accompanied by guitar... my mistake.

@JSCWhistler - Brian's solo CD is The Ravishing Genius of Bones, and my favourite is also Last of the Starrs, what a sweet tune.

Do anybody know which rhythm is this tune? I think is a 7 by 4 but I am not sure about that. Good tune though

did he play tht of the top of his head as in make it up there and then ??
murlach1 3 years ago
No he didn't. I mean, he's good, but that would be totally off the charts :-) It was composed beforehand.

I think he has been known to do such a thing, though...

I'm not sure who Marga is, but anyone who inspires a lovely song like that is not only very fortunate, but must be a lovely person as well!
