  • Thank you soo much this really helped me with my films. :3

  • can you make a prince of Egypt style movie with this?

  • @religionstudy With $70 Million, yes you could.

  • thanks for the tutorial, I was curious can you animate in after effects (2d animate) or must you do it elsewhere then bring it into A.E?

  • This is exactly what I wanted to see. I adore Flash, but it can only take you so far. Coupled with planing effects and AE's camera and lighting system, my animating world just opened up before me. Great tutorial.

  • Brilliant tutorial and lovely bit of animation too :)

  • HEY!!! this is a great tutorial. I have actually made some very breif like 30 zecond animations that you might want to critic because I am a VERY NEW beginner. I really want to get into animation.

  • what flash program is this there is more than 1 u know

  • @Jobuskus after affects

  • thanx

  • Great video, except the shadow of the penguin does not follow the shadows on the background. :)

  • One criticism, and I know I'm petty I picked the bad habit up from my lecturers in my Digital Media course, the shadow is facing the wrong way.

Other than that thank you for the tutorial! Clear and easy to understand.

  • can you make an animation like a cow and chicken or an ed edd n eddy style? beacause i can draw cartoon characters but i don't know how to use the programs..pls help me if u can thanx :D !

  • @NBAfan91 Sure you can. Flash can reproduce any heavy-lined, flat graphical style. A lot of it just comes in how you animate it. Other animation programs, like Toon Boom, have even more flexibility.

  • my life sucks...how the hell did i get here

  • whoops weird double post O_o

  • so using a video layer instead of an image layer will work if i want to put my 2d animation of prerecord real life video/film, AWESOME jsut what i needed to know for an assignment :D

  • Thanks soooo much! Great tutorial!! =)

  • i love that pengiun

  • great tutorial! you animated the penguin in flash and then put in after effects, is it possible to animate in after effects? because i dont have flash..

  • @MrsPortgas It's possible to animate images and puppets in After Effects using tweens, but hand drawn animation like said penguin is not possible. If you have Photoshop, you could use the Animation Panel to do hand-drawn work, though.

  • Does the steps you provide also work for using hand painted raster image backgrounds and foregrounds?

  • @MulitCreativeFlow Well this tutorial is about hand-drawn vector images converted to raster, so yes. Raster-painted images would work just about the same way.

  • Can you add a 2d animation over a Video clip in after effects?

  • @ABillionare Sure thing. Just use a video layer instead of an image layer.

  • @Base14Productions so using a video layer instead of an image layer will work if i want to put my 2d animation of prerecord real life video/film, AWESOME jsut what i needed to know for an assignment :D

  • youtube.com/watch?v=JfROujzr7Yw - titles(Abode After Effects)

  • awesome tutorial, easy to understand, no crap - only useful stuff, thx

  • Why export it as a image sequance when you can export it as a movie? Just wondering

  • @cookie123456789012 Because .pngs handle transparency more reliably than movie formats, and are easier to update and swap out than movies in After Effects, In short: After Effects loves image sequences. Although Premiere does not.

  • @Base14Productions Thanks. I'll use PNG sequances in future

  • I love your stretchy animation style.

  • This tutorial is godlike. Thank you so much!

  • Bro You're amazing! :D

  • OMG!How stupid of me.... :P.This is why they say,READ THE MANUAL FIRST!!! I used to do my animation on a green screen background and later on use chroma key to remove that in after effects!!what a DUMBO!!anyways thanks for the awesome tutorial...no more green screens for me!!!

  • thanks dude...this was so easy yet so much fun....keep them coming

  • i want to make a animation but i don't know how to draw

  • isn't all these effects can be made by Flash cs5 ?

  • Thank you sooo much!

I was crazy trying find a tutorial to learn how import my animations for after effects!

    Awesome tutorial

  • u're awesome. thanks for sharing your knowledge!

  • How long did that take you to draw?

  • Excellent tutorial, very revealing of what you can achieve with After Effects. Oh and by the way, I think your animation was smooth!

  • your animation is not smooth

  • @joab1996 Just the way I like it!

  • @joab1996 It's smooth. What's really important is that the character stays on model and keeps it's volume, and it does.

  • Great tutorial. Thanks a lot my friend

  • I pronounce them Pee enn gees, but its so cute you call them pings ^.^

  • can you download this animation software free online? and can it export as a movie file with sound?

  • Nice and informative!

  • wow this helped a lot.

    Thank you very much!!!!

  • Dude. Thanks. I haaaad no idea on earth how this was done ;_;

  • How do you call that thingy you do at the end? multiple layering effect?

  • dude this is awesome! thanks for the tip, it helped a lot!

  • You.... just... saved MY ASS! THANK YOU MAN! THANK YOU!!!! I would kiss you! :3

  • dude, that you. This is the first tut that explains things and you can do. You are amazing!!!!! Just saved my life seriously, I was about to give up but I'm gonna continue on and save your tuts to my blackberry and study em like their a bible.

  • @supalena Awesome, glad you find them helpful!

  • looks good, but your shadow is facing the wrong direction in relationship to the background.

  • do you have a tutorial which you show how to animate this cute charcter you used?

  • how do u export i later ?

  • @frankytap Add the comp to render queue and export it at the desired format.

  • that's one great tutorial!

  • OMG THAT U I LOVE U (no homo)

  • good stuff bro

  • Thanks for tutorial )

  • Hi, just wanna let you know, an SWF file has transparency too! It is also importable to after effects with this transparency intact. I use the CS3 versions of both programs though, I'm not sure if its any different with later versions

  • wat program do you use to make this 2d animation

  • @42devil1 As stated in the video, I animate in Flash!

  • boooob jeeenz

  • thanks for the shadow tip!

  • How do you make it a single layer? (Without the white background, making it just the raw animation) .

Because when you delete the 1st layer, there is no layer to draw with.

  • @GerardoArwi57 There is no background to delete. What you see as white is representing nothingness. As long as you export as a .png sequence with an embedded transparency you should have no background issues.

  • @Base14Productions Oh Thanks!

  • Do you have a tutorial on how to create the character and animate it in flash please? thanks awesome stuff!

  • @lukezammit1 Sure, I have my Flash character animation tutorials in a three-part series. I could also do a tutorial on how to make hand-drawn animation in Flash, if there's enough interest.

  • @Base14Productions ; oh! i just noticed them on your channel :) thanks. Yup i'm interested right here hehe .. keep up the good work mate ;)

  • @Base14Productions I'd like to see a tutorial on that. :)

  • Thank You!!!!!!!Thank You!!!!!!!Thank You!!!!!!!! Im really greatful for this video i am a noob at animating with backround and you really helped me.IM SUBSCRIBING!

  • This is great! I'd been trying to figure out how to add a dry brush and painted textures to background and foreground elements for ages. This has got to be the answer. Time to clean the digital dust off my After Effects. Thanks for a great tutorial!

  • This is Awesome Thanks

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial!

I've been looking for a tutorial on how to export Flash animation & importing it into After Effects. Once again, thank you! :)

  • i gave them both a 90 to give it a bit more realistic to make it that the sun is a bit less bright

  • LOL! But the background moves too slow to be realistc, i mean compared to the speed of the pinguin... HeHe,

  • @Luka1180 But animation is all about what's believable, not necessarily realistic.

  • To get CRACKED version of VideoCopilot Optical Flares, just google for Aries-Films, its like a goldmine for video editors, over 300 files, plugins , sound effects...

  • Solid tutorial. Would you take the same approach to compositing the images into footage you've shot? Would there be more to it?

  • @TheMcCart Probably a bit more to it, since you would either need to keep your camera absolutely still or create tracking marks for a moving camera.

  • Simple enough with a tripod then, I guess. I'll have to try it out. Thanks for the response.

  • Nothing better to do on a rainy day than brush up on some After Effects!

  • Cant you also export it as a Quicktime movie because quicktime movies can also export alpha channels.

  • You can export a quicktime movie with embedded alpha channels but I've found in the past it causes artifacting. PNG always gives good results.

  • how do you get the transparent background in flash ? lol :D that awsome and would come in handy for me bigtime

  • Oooh, you lucky dog. A Cintiq. Dang, I wish I could get one of those bad boys.

  • awesome tutorials

  • Thhhhaaaannnk you so much. God. I always wondered how to do this. I always tried to do everything by Flash, but that just took waaaaay to long. Thank you so much man. You're the greatest. 5/5

please can you do some more videos on how you use the settings in After Effect? I have after effect but was not really trained in it just yet. I want to know as much on it as I can before I go to college to learn stuff like this.=)

  • once again... thank you!!

  • this makes me wish i knew how to do an-ee-may-shun. :/

in the meantime, though.... *pokes squishy penguin*
