This is so hard to watch. I am being evicted this week but thankfully I have only myself to take care of. I dont really know what to say. The sense of sorrow for this family is profound. I live in America but homelessness here is similar to that of England. All I can say to this family is that I am so sorrow you must go through this!!
Ask yourself this -- what is the net benefit for ANYONE of this family (and countless others) living this way? It's much better for them and ALL of society for them to have housing, so the dad can get a job, so the mom can get treatment, so the kids can be in school. So yes, let's all pay a bit of tax money so this shitty situation doesn't just get repeated with EVERY new generation.
To everyone posting snarky comments on this vid about how the parents are "bums" who *should* have done this and that.
Guess what, rich people f*ck up too! But if you're rich and you lose your job, or get a serious illness, or make a poor life decision, you have a nice fat cushion in your bank account (and probably a bunch of rich relatives) to see you through. But I guess it makes small-minded people feel good to kick others when they're down.
1- I don't know any reason why I wouldn't deserve a 'free' house. (You still have to pay rent on a council house, geez...) My mum has worked her whole life, and I've just got my first job at 14. We're not just scroungers; at least we have jobs.
2- I am lucky to have accommodation. Didn't say I wasn't.
Please don't throw out statements like that. It's generalising all poor people as scroungers who don't deserve anything, and that is not true.
This documentary made me cry because this nearly happened to me and my mum a couple of years ago. This shouldn't be happening in this country, stupid effing government :@
@Neji961 Why should u deserve a free house? You should be lucky you get any accomodation. In lots of countries around the world you would be living on the streets.
@Jairzinho121 Amazing isn't it, that every time there is a recession and a lack of jobs, these "leeches" seem to multiply by the thousands. And it is always entertaining to see people say that the poor in place A should just shut up and be grateful, because people in place B are starving. I also thought that the UK saw it self as a developed country that treated people better than many "countries around the world", I guess I was mistaken.
@BurnTheBurka you've got a point, but all polititions are self serving heartless twats, in the ploy of elite bankers and oligarchs, with the queen at the top of this polite dictatorship.
the tories are here only to serve the rich, bail out the banks and make the general public suffer for it.
by the end of this parliment more children will be in poverty than before they took/stole power.
Anyone ever wonder about the camera operators? Like what do they do? Take a lunch break and tell these poor people they will be back? "Stay on this corner, we will be back we just need to grab some stuff at the hotel."
Really sad. When you see the Queen, she should be ashamed of being so fckun rich. This is all done for one purpose. They want to destroy the middle class. They always have excuses to evict people. But even in the US it's the same situation. They won't stop until they'll destroy middle class. That is the Agenda of the rich ruling elite. It's very sad.
wtf this man keeps bringing up the fact that he has young children, his children can get food and a home with social services but he wants them to suffer with him because he benefits. I hate poor people who use children as a way to get handouts.
@djkissbird they don't need kids if they can't afford to properly take care of them!! why drag kids through your problems as an ADULT when they can have a better future with someone well off? they are just being selfish, using kids to keep themselves afloat.
@Miikaika25 yah well , since you wanna bash my son and my mothering asswipe?...I hope you get hit by a truck pussy....why dont u meet me face to face asshole ...let me be the one to fuckin smash you cunt!...I hate fuckers like you asshole.....I hope you die! Yah death!cunt!I hate you!
@Miikaika25 ps you prolly are a abusive bastard to your own kid....and your gonna judge me??? prick? ....your poor kid w a prick dad like you......wait till tht kid becomes a teen asshole ....you just wait....unless someone shoots your moron ass first!
@Miikaika25 Yes, why don't all poor people send their kids into the delightful world of foster care? Where they'll be transferred through multiple foster families with foster parents who are no doubt just as poor as their original parents. Brilliant solution.
@spoiledbrat1440001 Not when social funding is the first thing to always get cut. Never the military, mind you. I think the bureaucracy involved here is ridiculous and frustrating (who is "intentionally" homeless?) but the reality is there aren't enough affordable housing units so the drones on the other end of the phone can't do much except pay to put the family up in a hotel -- but that's not a permanent solution.
its a good thing he has money for moms ciggerettes and money for his nice cell phone services, and money for cabs, and his attitude about where he demands where he wants to live he wont take anything thats available in another town they would rather blame the government in the town of their choice to live, and then the selfish asshole wont put his kids in temp fostercare he would rather drag them thru this type of bullshit, whats the real story of this bum.
those scum evil council, the amount of council tax we pay and they invest in fucking iceland and buy jags and big houses for the councillors, i think its a much better system for a community leader to deal directly with these matter it would be a much better system
@kamlondonuk Only a few people on my council live in social housing & they had those places long before they entered politics! I can tell you that on what most back bench councillors get from the council in allowances/expenses you aren't even getting minimum wage for all the work there is. some of that work is from people who genuinely need help. But you'd be amazed at how many people want the council to wave a magic wand and take away all their problems, many of which are self inflicted!
and i that woman cannot help how she is about her depression bt i just cant feel sorry 4 her, this man is lookin afya 3 yung children and a teenager AND a grown woman nt 2 include him self... i may onli b 15 mysel bt i just dnt understand y the goverment cant do sumfin about dis!
good comment, but government can't fix problems. when it interferes it destroys lives and opportunities. this may not seem so at first, but some history and economics drives this point home.
'home' almost seems like a bad pun, but purely accidental..
I've been homeless. It was awful. Where I came from in the USA, neighbors helped one another out. In the Jewish nabes in NYC, ditto. Why did these people have so many kids and not think? I had to abort mine. Brave father, brave big sister. Tell me how to help them.
@Autocad1965 Right. Would you say that to someone with a broken leg? "Just stop having a broken leg!" You clearly have no idea what depression is or what it is like. It is as disabling as a broken bone.
i agree.. i cant judge her but i think she should pull her self togeather abit more.. she has been to hell and back but so has the kids and the dad.. wommen seem to have these mental problems in the middle stages of live..
