Of CAUSE gun owner ship should be controlled but Heston just wanted Americans to know that despite the occasions where serious tragedy occurred Americans shut not forsake the wishes of the founders, thats Americans SHOULD bare arms if nessisary
2004 facts: 200 million guns (100 times the Iraqi army) and 25,000 people killed by firearms every year (the equivalent of many years of civil war in Yugoslavia). Firearm deaths per 100,000 people (CDCP, Bureau Of Justice Statistics, 1998): 14.24 in the U.S., 4.31 in Canada, 0.7 in Holland, and only 0.41 in England (where not even police carry guns). Which means that if you live in the U.S., you are 40 times more likely to die of gunshots than if you live in Britain
Have you considered that Britain doesn't have the same drug problems at the US. Nor does Canada. The war on drugs has a lot to do with the number of gun related deaths. Then again Eric Holder was busy giving guns to the drug cartels.
You are being naive. You ignore all the facts I have laid out. What about Switzerland? Do drug dealers and criminals follow the law on drugs? Do they follow the laws on guns?
Our own government supplied guns to drug cartels. No background check. Then stated that gun shops were selling guns to criminals and we needed more gun control. Look up fast & furious and Eric holder.
There are stories of people murdered by meth addicts with knives all the time.
If I am killed with a knife, or I am killed with a gun. I am still dead. The most violent murder of US citizens in recent history was done with box-cutters. People kill people. Not guns.
nothing is more real than reality itself.... "The level of gun ownership world-wide is directly related to murder and suicide rates and specifically to the level of death by gunfire."
Planning and coordination for the typical convention begins two years before the event, and the organizers generally have begun collecting money from attendees and paying deposits for services at least a year in advance. It's too bad there were tragedies in locations where the NRA had events planned, but it's not like the NRA picked these places out after the fact just to be insensitive.
Talk about someone who can't compete on a level playing field!! MM's mom must be so proud - he was able to get the upper hand, intimidate and humiliate an old man with Alzheimer's. What a guy!!!
@dkamm65 I agree wholeheartedly. As a public figure representing a controversial lobby, you need to be able to take tough questions. If he was to old to deal with it, he should not be the leader of the NRA. There was also a feeling that NRA going to Michigan right after the tragedy was callous and not respectful of the situation. He tries to justify move by saying he was "unaware of the situation". Thats disingenuous and trying to justify the overt political move on the part of the NRA.
@adrenalinflow Heston had alzheimers. Attacking a vulnerable man who was unable to defend himself due to his deteriorating mental state was a despicable thing.
@susan987654 Exactly as adrenalinflow said, if he has Alzheimer's, he shouldn't be the head of the NRA. His mental capacity is never questioned until he gets embarrassed in an interview.
@dkamm65 This ambush by MM was made shortly after Heston was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and immediately before his resignation as spokesman for the NRA. You can say what you will, trying to intimidate and humiliate a man who is not capable of defending himself is wrong.
@dkamm65 Asking Heston to apologize because someone was accidentally killed with a gun was ridiculous and tipped him off that MM gained entry to his home under false pretenses. Suppose a fast food CEO is contacted by someone who claims to be a big fan wanting to do a commercial - the CEO allows that person INTO HIS HOME - then that person demands that he apologize to all those killed by obesity & high cholesterol? Do you think the interview would continue and the interviewer allowed to stay?
@dkamm65 No, Heston thought an NRA member was coming to get an easy interview about the NRA. He had no idea he was going to be blind sided and grilled about Columbine and asked to apologize. He would never have allowed MM into his home if he'd known the true intent of the interviewer
@dkamm65 One's moral compass is flawed if they think it's OK to gain access to someone's home under false pretenses in order to humiliate and embarrass them when they are incapable of defending themselves and after they graciously - albeit naively - allowed access into their home where they are vulnerable & unprotected. How many celebrities of Heston's stature would allow a stranger access to his home? His kindness and generosity were sorely abused - MM should be ashamed.
@susan987654 Please tell me where the video says he entered under false pretenses. Nothing in the video suggests Moore went there to discuss anything other than guns.
@dkamm65 If you watch the beginning of this video, which is also on youtube with over 90,000 views, MM goes to Heston's gate the day prior to the interview and introduces himself as an NRA member who would like to do an interview with Heston about gun issues. There is no mention of Columbine, and CH had no reason to expect anything other than an easy, non-confrontational interview - hence the decision to allow MM into his home.
@susan987654 Gun "issues". That suggests discussing problems. As the spokesperson for the NRA at the time, he should have been expecting hard questions. It's not Moore's fault for Heston agreeing to the interview, it's Heston's fault for being naive enough to think being the head of one of the more controversial groups in the country would be easy. That's all I have to say on the matter, so if you would like to continue, go ahead. I'll read it, but don't expect a reply.

Yeah, truth2748, Heston is a true racist. Wonder what the hell he was doing marching with MLK back in '63. Probably just trying to infiltrate the movement, eh? Idiots like you will never understand America.
does anyone realize that the clock on MM's right changes from 5:45 to 6:05, then 6:10. the video was clearly edited to make CH look like an ass. and how dare MM makes him look like a racist? CH rallied with MLK damnit!!!
i wish he would have gone to hestons friends house and tried the same thing...that being clint eastwood. clint was at some award show with moore present and said if you come to my house.."ill shoot you" thats what heston should have done.
Michael Moore is a complete asshole he basically sat there and tryed to make a great person Charlton Heston apologize in his own home because he held a Nra rally. Yet the Nra has many gun Safety programs and always insist you follow gun Safety rules ALWAYS. Micheal Moore is a Idiot and had no right to do what he did.
Why can't that fatass be a victim of gun violence? Fat people are always trying to save everyone else, the troops, the victims of "gun" violence, yet this fat fuck is one cheeseburger away from a heart attack. Maybe if he wasn't such a reject from pretty people in society, he might find other things to do.
If a parent does not secure his firearm and his kid kills another kid, then throw the parent in jail for being and idoit and for not taking proper care of his gun.
Here in Brazil we got a lot of the famous "favelas" all around. Drug dealers, heavy aim and that shit. Rio de Janeiro was a nice city before all of those things take place...
And why is it that we, law abiding citizens are held accountable for the actions of others? Case in point if a person shoots up a bank with a shotgun, why is my right to own a shotgun questioned? Sounds kinda silly right? I mean I own a Jeep, they flip over all the time and people get killed/seriously injured...should we ban Jeeps? Slip in the bathroom on a bar of soap, better rethink that soap ban proposal before another person breaks their neck.
So we are hand tided, we can't defend ourselves from crime and we can't trust the police are going to be there when needed. So be careful, Americans, if your government takes away from you your right to have and bear arms, remember that bad guys don't ask permission to get real guns.
I live in Mexico, and in this country there is a very tight gun control. A common citizen cannot buy handguns larger than .380, and you can't have more than one, and it is only for house defense. But the criminals have access to real guns and the crime index, especially in Mexico City is one of the highest in the World: Kidnapping, violent car theft, muggings, and I'm not counting the drug dealers who carry from AK 47's to RPG's, hand grenades, and anti-aircraft MG's, just to mention a few.
in an ethnically cleansed, re-mixed, white jew control based capitalistic society where revolution in numbers cannot and will not occur -fancy those forefather- loaded hand guns seem more likely defensive than offensive. heston was right; moore should know better of what he speaks. germany, indeed. not today, and never any worse than our own. and while we're at it, best of luck to obama. there would be a real president.
Michael Moore, God will not be as merciful to you as your liberal friends have been. Heston was suffering from Alzheimer's at this time. Wow, no surprise Moore didn't choose somebody who was of the health to have an argument with him.
To Lancelot// why do you think is that? cause they were seriously discriminated(ex. can't have good jobs, etc) Til 1955. It's been 50years. It may seem long to young idiot like you, but it is too short for many black to settle down and make money. They still have low-paid jobs like many Hispanic workers we have today. So it's not their problem, but our SOCIETY'S Problem.
Interesting to see the juxtaposition of Heston - one of the most celebrated examples of the human form - even an aging, afflicted Heston with his powerful orator's voice and angular physique compared to this waddling little turd who can't enunciate words. "Hi iss uh, MikahMoore uhsee Charhesson.." He isn't sure of his own name?
By the time Heston announced he was afflicted, he was already years into the disease which is typical. The difference between the US & Canada? Let's see, what do they have that we don't. Hmm....He correctly alluded to the major part of the gun crime problem in this country when he mentioned ethnicity, which he tried to backpeddle away from. Yeah, blah blah screw political correctness. Take away all Black and Hispanic gun crime and what happens to the gun crime stats?
Moore unwittingly argues against "blame the gun" , when he points out the number of guns in Canada and the low murder rate (presuming he is not distorting the situation there). If guns caused crimes, we would see a high murder rate in Canada. So he is on to something. However, our violent crime rate, including murder, has more to do with our decline in religious faith and other socio-economic factors. We've turned from God and we've reaped the consequences. Moore is a punk! Amen.
I totally disagree with Mr. Heston's stand on guns, but I am totally embarrassed by Michael Moore's ungracious behavior toward him. I am really disgusted to think that Mr. Moore represents my stand. Nice going, Michael - you look like a slob. I wonder why?
God Bless Charlton Heston!!! I have the right to own a gun and KILL anyone who wants to break into my home to rape and kill my family!!! Go live in the land of OZ Fatso!
I'm one of the biggest liberals you'll ever meet and I don't agree with advocating for rifles, but Moore really should've respected Heston, who was actually bringing up good points about America already having blood on its hands. Heston was being ambushed and this interview starts off fascinating and then quickly turns uncomfortable.
aren't liberals supposed to believe in liberty, how is taking ones right to own a gun liberal. Gun control increases crime, so safety can't be an excuse. If you read the federalist papers there is no doubt the US founders meant everyone to have the right to own a gun. And if you study history dictators like Hitler,Stalin, Mao etc are the ones who like gun control.
theres so much wrong with that statement, i dont even know where to begin. first, all americans tend to believe in liberty, not just liberals. secondly, there is no real evidence whatsoever that 'gun control increases crime'. if you have an unbiased, conclusive study, you might want to publish it. youd make millions, literally. finally 'don't believe something because someone else believes it' is a horrible reason to argue anything. an opinion is an opinion, but you gotta defend it right.
my point was that the term liberal originally meant people who defended individual liberty now it reflects the position of people defending the right of government to infringe on liberty.
There are acutually many studies on the topic, but the media ignores them. When the UK instituted a gun ban, crimes went up, after 42 states alone concealed carry permits there crime rates went down. the states with the most gun control like DC, new york, etc have higher crime rates than states with gun rights.
Its a constitutional right that should be enough, the fact that gun control is usually followed by government tyranny is another good reason. Trying to limit ones ability to defend ones self is immoral. Theses aren't simply opinions they are facts. if you dont want a gun fine, dont get one
the idea of 'should be' is what all the controversy is about. should be is an opinion. the fact is, this one of the most controversial topics in america for a reason. youre right about dc and new york, BUT the idea of causality is a huge issue with those examples (i dont know much about UK, but i imagine the situation is similar). that is, places that would institute a gun ban do it BECAUSE they have high crime rates, not vice versa.
There are numorous things wrong with this segment. The biggest being (not shown) when Moore holds up the picture of the dead girl just minutes after Heston gets up and walks away. The segment was clearly staged since Moore has camera shots both in front and behind in what appears to be real time when neither camerman filmed the other camerman. Can the class say "trick editing." And Moore still hasn't explained how Heston managed to change ties in midspeech in Littlton Colorado.
The film medium asks some interesting questions, but it very seldom answers any. It's reprehensible though that Moore felt he had to go to Heston's house, so Heston could do Moore's job in answering these questions for him. Not surprising though, as Moore has never held down a job. Michael Moore is a fat piece of shit, and I look forward to the day he stops asking questions and manipulating the answers.
What Heston meant to say on Mixed Ethnicities was "Black People hate White People, Mexicans are pushing through established Black businesses, Asians think their better then everyone else, and White people are paranoid and hate everyone other then their immediate family.
Charlton Heston was'nt as sour as I am, and certainly knew that saying things like this was inappropriate.
Michael Moore is pointing a pretty large finger at Heston. Moore should storm the MacDonald's counter and blame the cashier for "killing America with cholesterol" too? It was mandatory to watch this filth in my college writing class. That didn't bother me so much. The fact that we didn't view a conservative film, now that really bothered me.
If sb invites you into his home you do not disrespect him. moore is a media-horny opportunist who simply involves himself in byest editing to please the majority of people.
I agree totally. I was ok with the documentary until the ending with the Heston assault. Heston was nice enough to invite this fat sh*t into his house and Moore was nothing more than a sniveling bitch. At the very end didn't Moore place a photo of a kid killed by a gun and place it against Heston's gate outside? Why in the world is this any of Heston's fault? Moore destroyed all credibility with this act. RIP Charles. You were one of the great ones!!
Ok, now then, would the VT tragedy have happened if people were not so worried about gun control issues and getting in trouble? I don't know. Would less people have died? I don't know. But something I have a feeling of is that more people out there would never do something like that. And if more people are carrying guns, then one bastad with a gun vs. 10 people with a gun...Do the math. I seriously doubt VT would've been as bad, but again, I don't know.
Banning guns is like prohibition of alcohol, you ban it all that happens is it passes to underground mafias and gangs who will make and distribute them, leading to wealthier criminals and more money being taken from taxes to fund new devisions of security to enforce the ban.
There is a big difference between banning guns and gun control.
Gun control was enforced in Australia after the horrific Port Arthur massacre and even though it didn't stop all shootings it did encourage gun owners with a license (and conscience) to be more responsible when storing their firearms.
Also in Australia bullets aren't sold in commercial chainstores like in the US. Maybe the US shouldn't ban guns but perhaps they should address the fact that it's fairly easy to purchase bullets?
The thing is, people who have the intent on using firearms to harm people don't care about gun control laws, it's the average law-abiding owner who would/does properly register and keep their firearms in a safe or lock-case. Bullets and firearms can easily be obtained off the black-market.
What a wonderful man Charlton Heston was! he lived an exemplary life, was a devoted husband, father, patriot, and entertained us for over 50 years! Thank you Mr. Heston, and thanks for your dignity, your honesty and for living and dying gracefully.
This is interesting. I expected something sad, because of the alzheimer's issue, but Heston fields his questions pretty well. Imagine the interview you'd have if Dubya was interrogated by Michael Moore.
Incidentally, Moore's contention that no other country has our level of gun violence is a lie. US firearm homicides are only high in comparison to those in predominantly caucasian European countries.
Many nations have higher firearm homicide rates than the US, including neighboring Mexico.
Does it really matter what how many people die in other countries from gun violence or the amout of guns a country has?
At the end of the day isn't shooting someone, no matter how much you don't like/don't agree with them, wrong?
I feel easy access to guns is too much of a temptation to the people who aren't able to control their emotions. You can never predict what anyone is capable of in the heat of a moment. There should be tighter gun control everywhere for the sake of the next generation.
Do you blame alcohol for turning someone into an alcoholic? Do you blame drugs for turning someone into an addict?
Do you blame the owner or the gun for taking a life? Or do you blame both?
I don't know if there's a way to reach some people in the US on a deeper level and help them realise it's wrong to kill each other without enforcing some form of gun control.
There are people out there who shoot for sport and they responsibly keep their guns under lock and key. But that being said it worries me how readily available guns and ammo are to the US public.
A police officer with a gun (and license) could just as easily kill someone in cold blood. Holding a license doesn't automatically mean you will never use a gun irresponsibly, it just means you can legally own one.
It seems there are more questions that need to be asked about this subject...
It's healthy that the US at least partially obeys its Constitution with the Second Amendment. It's unfortunate what has happened to the Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments since Bush took office.
Free societies are not "secure". You either possess liberties or you don't.
all u guys dissing michael moore need to come and watch this video again in like a year. after the whole death sinks thru and ur not having all this sympathy for charlton youll come to agree with what he's saying. i love charlton. he was a great actor but doesnt mean u have to agree with him. so what? moore decided to ask a question to prove a point and charlton answered ... we have mixed ethnicities? that's why americans are killing eachother mr. ex president of the NRA?
then, why are americans killing each other so much? i know its not because guns, since Mr. Moore talked about people in Canada having more guns. Heston gave two perfect reasons for it, but this idiot wouldn't let him talk.
Well, there are still some white on black crimes for racism, would you agree? Black on white for racism, would you agree. Mixed ethnicities do play a role. I don't know how much of one but still. But even if you banned guns, second ammendment, what part of the constitution do you want to throw out next my friend?
Michael Moore is a complete A-hole...he didn't let him talk! Yes Michael, the USA has a mixed ethcnicity, theres black people living in ghettos, surrounded by crime, and yes, the USA did have a civil war...jeez. RIP Charlton!
I haven't yet made up my mind as to whether Moore is directly working for the NWO or is just brainwashed. Whatever the case may be, he is very deceptive. Columbine as well as every mass shooting in modern history were government black ops. It has come out in court documents that the SWAT teams were responsible for some of the deaths. Also, 6 other shooters that weren't Dylan or Clybold were spotted by witnesses. Also, it's an admitted fact that the FBI founded the Trechcoat Mafia.
Moore is such a douche. He isn't even from Flint. He is from Davison which is a more upscale white community next to Flint. He likes to use the poor working man image. LOL what a joke.
Dude don't be an idiot. Whites kill people with guns also but not at the same rate. Many cities in Canada have large black populations and don't have the same problems. Its the fact that in America we embrace ghetto bullshit with a victim mentality and no regard for human life. We breed and promote that bullshit and you can thank losers like Michael Moore for that.
The belief that ethnic diversity contributes to violence and the support of civil rights are not mutually exclusive notions. There are also many positive qualities of heterogeneity, which Heston may well have noted, given the chance.
I didnt like how he exploited Heston in this video. The man stood up for black civil rights when it wasnt popular in Hollywood.
His comments about Canada's ethnicity vs America's is true. Its un p/c, but its basically true. Canada and Europe are whiter places. Their minority communities also face discrimination and are plagued with violence. The difference is that the US minority communities face the same problems but they are larger in number.
Moore actually has Heston on the front page of his website now. Has the statement by his family and the website they posted for donations. Nice touch.
Mr. Heston showed his true 'colors' in this interview. He may have marched with Dr. King at one time but he certainly had changed his feelings toward the 'mixed ethnicity' of the US. I loved his movies but not his politics.
I never said he now opposed civil rights. I said Mr. Heston 'may have marched with Dr. King at one time but he certainly had changed his feelings toward the 'mixed ethnicity' of the US.'
Why else would he say what he said? Do you have a more valid reason?
I dont see how you gathered that from this video. The point that I took from that is that we are a very diverse nation. With diversity comes animosity. People hate each other because they are different. He didnt mean all the murders are done because a particular group of people. There is no way a white man could be such a supporter of Dr. King in the 50's and completely change those opinions. I take your comment as being ignorant and disrespectful in order to make your version of what was said.
So no one changes their minds? Heston was a Democrat and later became a Republican- doesn't that suggest he did change his mind about things sometimes?
If he didn't mean that due to our mixed culture in the US is probably why we have such a high murder rate with guns then why did he suggest so? Can you please give me an interpretation of what he meant?
Just because he changed his mind about some things doesn't mean he changed his mind about everything. It's hard believing someone who felt strongly enough about civil rights to march alongside Martin Luther King would change their mind 40 years later.
dj0114, are you saying that the USA doesn't have a mixed ethnicity? whats your point? Michael Moore even contradicts himself when he admits that Canada and other countries have more guns. Michael Moore is a total manipulator, those are his true colors. This is so cliché manipulation stuff.
I'm still angry about the way Michael Moore treated Chuck Heston in this documentary. Heston was suffering from Alzheimer's at this point and Moore ambushed him. Moore is shameless.
Goes to show how Mr. Moore will lie thru his teeth and try to manipulate people to get the answer he want, for no reason other than to make himself look good and everyone else look bad.

@dkamm65 If you watch the beginning of this video, which is also on youtube with over 90,000 views, MM goes to Heston's gate the day prior to the interview and introduces himself as an NRA member who would like to do an interview with Heston about gun issues. There is no mention of Columbine, and CH had no reason to expect anything other than an easy, non-confrontational interview - hence the decision to allow MM into his home.
susan987654 7 months ago
@susan987654 Gun "issues". That suggests discussing problems. As the spokesperson for the NRA at the time, he should have been expecting hard questions. It's not Moore's fault for Heston agreeing to the interview, it's Heston's fault for being naive enough to think being the head of one of the more controversial groups in the country would be easy. That's all I have to say on the matter, so if you would like to continue, go ahead. I'll read it, but don't expect a reply.

So be careful, Americans, if your government takes away from you your right to have and bear arms, remember that bad guys don't ask permission to get real guns.
magnumdog 3 years ago
I live in Mexico, and in this country there is a very tight gun control. A common citizen cannot buy handguns larger than .380, and you can't have more than one, and it is only for house defense. But the criminals have access to real guns and the crime index, especially in Mexico City is one of the highest in the World: Kidnapping, violent car theft, muggings, and I'm not counting the drug dealers who carry from AK 47's to RPG's, hand grenades, and anti-aircraft MG's, just to mention a few.

Interesting to see the juxtaposition of Heston - one of the most celebrated examples of the human form - even an aging, afflicted Heston with his powerful orator's voice and angular physique compared to this waddling little turd who can't enunciate words. "Hi iss uh, MikahMoore uhsee Charhesson.." He isn't sure of his own name?
obbzerver 3 years ago

Amen.

RubyTuesday717 3 years ago 4
aren't liberals supposed to believe in liberty, how is taking ones right to own a gun liberal. Gun control increases crime, so safety can't be an excuse. If you read the federalist papers there is no doubt the US founders meant everyone to have the right to own a gun. And if you study history dictators like Hitler,Stalin, Mao etc are the ones who like gun control.
Coot876 3 years ago
theres so much wrong with that statement, i dont even know where to begin. first, all americans tend to believe in liberty, not just liberals. secondly, there is no real evidence whatsoever that 'gun control increases crime'. if you have an unbiased, conclusive study, you might want to publish it. youd make millions, literally. finally 'don't believe something because someone else believes it' is a horrible reason to argue anything. an opinion is an opinion, but you gotta defend it right.
zoabeh 3 years ago 2
my point was that the term liberal originally meant people who defended individual liberty now it reflects the position of people defending the right of government to infringe on liberty.
There are acutually many studies on the topic, but the media ignores them. When the UK instituted a gun ban, crimes went up, after 42 states alone concealed carry permits there crime rates went down. the states with the most gun control like DC, new york, etc have higher crime rates than states with gun rights.
Coot876 3 years ago
Its a constitutional right that should be enough, the fact that gun control is usually followed by government tyranny is another good reason. Trying to limit ones ability to defend ones self is immoral. Theses aren't simply opinions they are facts. if you dont want a gun fine, dont get one
Coot876 3 years ago
the idea of 'should be' is what all the controversy is about. should be is an opinion. the fact is, this one of the most controversial topics in america for a reason. youre right about dc and new york, BUT the idea of causality is a huge issue with those examples (i dont know much about UK, but i imagine the situation is similar). that is, places that would institute a gun ban do it BECAUSE they have high crime rates, not vice versa.

As a Heston fan for decades, this scene disappointed me.
Michael Moore couldn't know he was ambushing a sick man. This was shortly before Heston's Alzheimer's announcement.
Moore took Heston's response as defensive, but he was simply confused.
Rather than shooting or swearing at Mr. Moore, Heston just walked out.
In his infirmity, Charlton Heston was more of a class act than Mr. Moore.
Imagine. A principled gun-owner and an unscrupulous mockumentarian.

I agree totally. I was ok with the documentary until the ending with the Heston assault. Heston was nice enough to invite this fat sh*t into his house and Moore was nothing more than a sniveling bitch. Banning guns is like prohibition of alcohol, you ban it all that happens is it passes to underground mafias and gangs who will make and distribute them, leading to wealthier criminals and more money being taken from taxes to fund new devisions of security to enforce the ban.
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 3 years ago
There is a big difference between banning guns and gun control.
Gun control was enforced in Australia after the horrific Port Arthur massacre and even though it didn't stop all shootings it did encourage gun owners with a license (and conscience) to be more responsible when storing their firearms.
Also in Australia bullets aren't sold in commercial chainstores like in the US. Maybe the US shouldn't ban guns but perhaps they should address the fact that it's fairly easy to purchase bullets?
pascha120 3 years ago
The thing is, people who have the intent on using firearms to harm people don't care about gun control laws, it's the average law-abiding owner who would/does properly register and keep their firearms in a safe or lock-case. Bullets and firearms can easily be obtained off the black-market.
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 3 years ago 3
If Moore would have interviewed me with the same questions, I would have made Moore look like an idiot.
England's gun crime doubled shortly after a gun ban. It turns out the criminals never turned in their guns.

Many nations have higher firearm homicide rates than the US, including neighboring Mexico.
pauldelacroix 3 years ago 2
Does it really matter what how many people die in other countries from gun violence or the amout of guns a country has?
At the end of the day isn't shooting someone, no matter how much you don't like/don't agree with them, wrong?
I feel easy access to guns is too much of a temptation to the people who aren't able to control their emotions. You can never predict what anyone is capable of in the heat of a moment. There should be tighter gun control everywhere for the sake of the next generation.
pascha120 3 years ago
Do you blame alcohol for turning someone into an alcoholic? Do you blame drugs for turning someone into an addict?
Do you blame the owner or the gun for taking a life? Or do you blame both?
I don't know if there's a way to reach some people in the US on a deeper level and help them realise it's wrong to kill each other without enforcing some form of gun control.
pascha120 3 years ago
Ok, now then, would the VT tragedy have happened if people were not so worried about gun control issues and getting in trouble? I don't know. Would less people have died? I don't know.
It seems there are more questions that need to be asked about this subject...
pascha120 3 years ago

I haven't yet made up my mind as to whether Moore is directly working for the NWO or is just brainwashed. Whatever the case may be, he is very deceptive. Columbine as well as every mass shooting in modern history were government black ops. It has come out in court documents that the SWAT teams were responsible for some of the deaths. Also, 6 other shooters that weren't Dylan or Clybold were spotted by witnesses. Also, it's an admitted fact that the FBI founded the Trechcoat Mafia.

The belief that ethnic diversity contributes to violence and the support of civil rights are not mutually exclusive notions. There are also many positive qualities of heterogeneity, which Heston may well have noted, given the chance.
swissminer 3 years ago
I didnt like how he exploited Heston in this video. The man stood up for black civil rights when it wasnt popular in Hollywood.
His comments about Canada's ethnicity vs America's is true. Its un p/c, but its basically true. Canada and Europe are whiter places. Their minority communities also face discrimination and are plagued with violence. The difference is that the US minority communities face the same problems but they are larger in number.

Mr. Heston showed his true 'colors' in this interview. He may have marched with Dr. King at one time but he certainly had changed his feelings toward the 'mixed ethnicity' of the US. I loved his movies but not his politics.
dj0114 3 years ago
dj0114, exactly how do Heston's comments suggest a newfound opposition to civil rights?
If anyone showed his true colors in this clip, it is Moore.
swissminer 3 years ago
I never said he now opposed civil rights. I said Mr. Heston 'may have marched with Dr. King at one time but he certainly had changed his feelings toward the 'mixed ethnicity' of the US.'
Why else would he say what he said? Do you have a more valid reason?
dj0114 3 years ago
What mfrantom wrote below pretty much sums it up. Violence results when people dislike others for being different.
golferchick23 3 years ago
I dont see how you gathered that from this video. The point that I took from that is that we are a very diverse nation. With diversity comes animosity. People hate each other because they are different. He didnt mean all the murders are done because a particular group of people. There is no way a white man could be such a supporter of Dr. King in the 50's and completely change those opinions. I take your comment as being ignorant and disrespectful in order to make your version of what was said.
mfrantom 3 years ago
So no one changes their minds? Heston was a Democrat and later became a Republican- doesn't that suggest he did change his mind about things sometimes?
If he didn't mean that due to our mixed culture in the US is probably why we have such a high murder rate with guns then why did he suggest so? Can you please give me an interpretation of what he meant?
dj0114 3 years ago
Just because he changed his mind about some things doesn't mean he changed his mind about everything. It's hard believing someone who felt strongly enough about civil rights to march alongside Martin Luther King would change their mind 40 years later.
golferchick23 3 years ago
Well, white on black, black on white, could racism play a role in this?
