What people don't understand, is that when people in extreme sports experience accidents like this crash, it's all about bad luck / luck how bad the injury will be. How bad the crash looks like has NOTHING to do with the actual injury that can occur. I once fell out of a chair and had a bad head concussion, i also had an accident in a 70m skijump hill where i landed on my back and rolled down the rest of the hill similar to the guy on the video, without a scratch whatsoevever.
Todd Brooker wrote the textbook on ski crashes. Todds balls fell off during the crash. His scrotum reattached with jute twine and a fish bone. He spent the next 19 months in rehab with only a 8 track of Anne Murray.

The worst ski crash ever? Apparently, you didn't see the Gernot Reinstadler bloody crash in 1991 - THAT was really horrific and nothing even compares to that accident! He was torn apart after hitting a fence - and yes, he died the same night.

Pointless Sports. When Interviewed about skiing, Glen Plake (Mohawk) said there was no point to skiing whatsoever. It's just a form of entertainment. I might add that it's excise as well. The crash put him in a coma and nearly killed him. He has brain damage and will never be the same.
Nadia Fanchini crash is bad, but at least she will recover.

The worst ski crash ever? Apparently, you didn't see the Gernot Reinstadler bloody crash in 1991 - THAT was really horrific and nothing even compares to that accident! He was torn apart after hitting a fence - and yes, he died the same night.

@einhornproductions 'minor crash' was a bit of an overreaction, this crash could injore somebody, but the titie 'worst ski crash in history' is very misleading. This is nothing compared to the Daniel Albrecht and Scott McCartney Kitzbuhel crashes.

@mctasi0473 Ok, I have been ski racing for 5 years. You know nothing about it. He hit 7 poles of fencing, and went throuugh 1 layer. This is obviously a painful crash, but could never kill anybody or put them in serious damage. Also, you told me to crawl into a hole and die... for commenting on a video... wow.

@Fichengafter Ok, lets start. This is SuperG, not "doownhill". Also, I have been racing for 7 years. I have had crashes like this. This isnt an everyday crash, this is actually a painful crash. Worst ever? ABSOLUTLY not. Coma? Killed? NO. Whoever posted this has NO knowlage of alpine racing. "Ski Racer Almost Dies." Somebody with any ski racing knowlage wouldve put the exact race, location, description, and WHO IT WAS. Worst case scenario, he couldve broken an arm, leg. MAYBE minor whiplash.

Pointless Sports. When Interviewed about skiing, Glen Plake (Mohawk) said there was no point to skiing whatsoever. It's just a form of entertainment. I might add that it's excise as well. Snowboarding is the same. Fun and exercising but at the end of the day, what did you accomplish? Luge; same idea. Let's take it one step further; Wii. I found that to be a physical oxymoron. It's a physical video game of a physical sport. Wii, virtual pie making?

@PavePaws then you can argue that against all sports. soccer, run back and forth, football, run back and forth. if you want a sport that technically has a purpose, bull fighting. you feed people with the animal that you just tortured for half an hour. I ski competitively, if you dont believe me well then too bad, you get an amazing adrenaline rush from it and it is a sport that takes massive amounts of practice to become an expert at. not saying that other sports dont but skiing takes prac

Your concept of bull fighting food is called HUNTING here in the states. As for Skiing needing practice, agreed. So to for LUGE. You don't just jump in and hope that at 95 mph you'll figure it out. I was simply stating that skiing serves no purpose, as stated by Glen Plake. You said LUGE serves no purpose, perhaps not to you but to a LUGER ("I'm a luger baby, so why don't you kill me"). There are only a limited number of activities that SERVE purpose but the other ones are for enjoyment.
