KAITO was sold only in 500 pckges b4. bt when in a time when Miku was extremely populr, Tatsunami upload a parody song in Higurashi no naku koro ni, "A Request From Hatsune" onto NicoNicoDouga. The video begins with the words "please sometimes recall [KAITO]," as well as Miku saying "where are you and what are you doing now?" which is from the song Dear You.

I read wiki far before this and kaito's situation is pretty understandable, because after kagamine's success artist are afraid for their voice to be copied that no one wants to be the voice bank, then crypton decided specialize itself for making the voice from zero--resulting kaito, but it wasn't selling good, maybe because there aren't traces of emotion

@Daun923 Nope. The very first VOCALOIDs ever released were Leon and Lola, two (rather dodgy) English VOCALOIDs. The first Japanese VOCALOIDs released were KAITO and MEIKO, created using the original VOCALOID engine. Later, Crypton refined the software and used the VOCALOID2 engine to create Hatsune Miku (Hatsune literally means "first sound"), and then created the twins, Luka etc etc. That's also the reason why KAITO and MEIKO have no surnames/lack the Something-ne theme to their names.

KAITO is from the original Vocaloid series. Series 2 (Miku, Kagamines, and Luka-from crypton) all have the same artist.

KAITO and MEIKO were given some pretty generic art when they were released.

The backgrounds for the newer Vocaloids are just the color of their hair with some squares and a faded out close up in the background. Gakupo's is just plain white with a faded out version of the symbol on his back.

Kaito however, looks like he's dancing, and there's a bunch of faded silhouettes emphasizing speed, with a cool, refreshing futuristic background.

Meiko's is similar, except she's leaping into the air like a ninja.

What I'm saying is the old Vocaloids had better box art.

Oddly plain? I find Kaito and Meiko's box art to be the best! They have very dynamic poses and really cool backgrounds, though I admit I don't like the empty eyes on them.
