They always could've brought back the temporary lady that replaced JJ while she was giving birth (the one who kind of looked like Elle). Personally i think it was a built up story, because she was a cadet and her teacher was Emily. Also her dad was a serial killer who Gideon brought down so she already knew the BAU

regardless they have a lot of things to explain next season like Seavers departure, Emily not being dead, Hotch having a beard, etc
