To see the UK St John Ambulance responding to a racing incident at Brands hatch, check out the video. Brands Hatch crash 2010-St John Ambulance.
It is the full video unedited, as some other videos have been edited. There is great footage of Crusader 900 Ambulances going round the race track to the crash. You will be pleased to know nobody died in the incident.
I have recently joined SJA in hertfordshire (england) and I'm enjoying every minute of it :) great video and great song (what is it by the way?)
(very sorry to hear of your bad experience,I hope your able to get on with life your way, fortunately people have wised up to the sickness in this world due to recent years and potential members are now highly vetted now)
Hi my name is simon and i have not long joyned sja in England and i am looking forwed to saveing lives. One peace of good news is that i am now fully CRB cleard but now all i am wateing for now is my ID badgelol. Keep up the good work
I was a member of the south Melbourne/Melbourne Division from 1973 until 2005.I loved every minute & still do stay in touch with some of the members even now.keep UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS & GIRLS.I also attended the lord mayors children s camp as a member for 7 years straight
Is it still the brigade with ranks over there? I know in Canada they got rid of all that jazz and I think its one of the best things they could have done. A paramilitary structure in a VOLUNTEER service just doesn't settle right with me.
We are no longer the brigade in Australia - just St John Ambulance Australia. However we do have the rank structure and it seems to be working effectively.
We have a number of volunteer emergency services with a similar set up - the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service etc.
In England, we still have ranks and shit. (: When you sign up to st john, you understand there are ranks involved, and whatnot, that's my view, anyway.
This was taken at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney - the video includes members from a range of Divisions across Sydney (this is an event managed by the State Operations Team).
Well in the end we had about 6 St Johnnies, plus 4 ambos. We were pretty tired - but it inspired a good little video - was a good night from a team work and bonding perspective.
Yes - quite fitting - lots of meaning ful bits... ironic that the idea came to me when we were on duty at a MCR concert - getting smashed with casualties....
great vid + song choice, cant wait to see this year photos, if ur doing some.. did see you snapping away though !!! happy i got in once or twice:) see you on duty sometime!!
I work with SJA England. I've always felt welcome, I used to be in the scouts but never really got on well. SJA is just organised, everyone knows what to do, everyone knows everyone else, we all get on, etc.
Also, the + sides:
Free biscuits at training and evenings
Free coffee
Awesome uniform
And not forgetting (Free entry to the football :P)
Only kidding about the last, you become an "info post"
Hi - I am glad you enjoy your time with St John - certainly the free coffee is a must have on the cold football fields. Does St John do the premier league games?
Not sure, i think it's upto the club whether they have their own first-aiders or get St John in. All i know is that every football match HAS to by law have an ambulance from the statutory ambulance service seated there (I assume from the SCD incidents).
And by Statutory ambulance service i mean the NHS Ambulance Trust (With paramedics). St John are usually there for minor injuries, and if (god forbid) there were two heart attacks at the same time.
I joined St John 3 weeks ago and I love it. The video shows how good people are at working togther and how they make a differance. I was previously in the Army Cadet Force and out of St John and the ACF I'd choose St John Any day
Thanks for the comment Beck - I think St John is a great way for kids and other people to give something back to the community! Are you coming to World Youth Day in July?
St John is my life. I live and breathe St John every day. I Work for St John as well as volunteer. You Can't bet that. I have been involved for 11 years. Keep up the good work.
