The sax player is Zoot, and he's one of the more fortunate muppets, in that he's actually pretty good at what he does (Rolf being one of the few others). Gonzo does the trumpet solo at the end of the opening sequence ... and it never works quite like a trumpet should for him.

The joke is that fore and back are the two ways to strike the Tennis Ball.

The real pun they're doing is 'Fore' = 'Four', so 'Four Hand' instead of Forehand. :P
