  • Great to hear from you Dan. The McBride thing wasn't one of my greatest moments but theres a lovely essay on that page of my site - not by me!

  • @bigalwhittle Al, I see you you have some Alex Campbell videos on your channel; I did two tours of England,Germany and Denmark with him in 1976. I learned a lot about stagecraft from Alex but, most importantly, how to get to the bar before everyone else at the interval!

  • God! I used to think you were quite wonderful. I saw you at The Fitters Walsall, Nuneaton Arts Centre, somewhere in Tamworth. And one night I went to a singers club in Coseley in the black country and you were there. Taff Thomas (Magic Lantern) used to run the gig and he joked that you'd asked him for the words for Whisky in the Jar - cos you were soon off to Majorca to play for the tourists, so many memories

  • I too remember with great affedtion Dan Fone playing numerous gigs round Midlands folk clubs in the 1970's. The last I heard of him was seeing him on TV playing with Ricky Cool and Icebergs. Would be great to hear from him. Loved his version of deep river blues played on an old Harmony Sovreign.

  • @bigalwhittle Hi Al, the old Harmony was a lovely guitar but lacked volume so I changed to Guild some 30 years ago. I still play Deep River Blues.Checkout Doc Watson, he's who I got it from. I enjoyed your rendition of Arthur McBride. All the best, Dan.

  • I also would like to get in touch with dan fone,we met in the seventies at barry kirbys in catshill near bromsgrove and he took me and the future wife to a bronco gig, great evening and a very nice bloke Mick Trevitt.

  • hey dad , good job I always love your music !

  • Could someone tell me how to contact Dan Fone please?

We used to play in the same band many years ago.

I have been trying to contact him for ages!

    Mike Lewis.

  • @gausche Hi Mike it's been a long time, as you can see I am still playing, how about your? Cheers, Dan
