  • i am honestly freaked out by how similar their voices are. Its like Trent's found the next torch-bearer.

  • @johnnybfernz except saul is infinitely cooler

    just sayin'

  • this is my favorite song from the album and second favorite saul track

  • bring yourself to be yourself tonight

  • This is such a great song! Bring yourself to be yourself tonight!!

  • saul williams has some of the best lyrics in all of music.

  • Amazing! I love that song!

  • I'm offended by U2 - as an Irish person - because they suck. I mean, they are such power-pop, fake-rock bullshit that they literally offend me. & anybody else with taste that I know.

  • thanx for this! Everytime i tell the same, people camm me insane...

U2 is so fucking overrated... they just made in a selling pop way what bands like Echo and the bunnymen did before with talent.

  • @birdmadboy Hating on U2 is so overrated... It's a cool thing to do nowadays, but sooner or later you'll actually listen to their albums (especially 80's albums) and realize the music you've been missing. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' alone deserves them a place in music history.

  • @backinburntcity

I did actualy listen to their albums, I'm 34 so they were pretty much unavoidable for most of my life. And I can honestly say they are utterly overproduced crap, with a sound so obviously designed by committee to shift as many units as possible.

In other words: weak-ass pop with no soul whatsoever.

And Sunday Bloody Sunday wasn't "brave" - they were saying "War is bad". As if anyone would disagree or be offended by that. How original and courageous of them.

  • @ErrataStigmata23 When I said listen to the albums, I meant listen to their non-singles, so you can see their less radio-friendly side, although obviously you don't think such a side exists.

I really can't understand how you can say their sound is so "obviously" manufactured to suit perfectly what they believe the masses want when they've recorded songs like "An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart", which is over minutes & very experimental, not radio-friendly at all. And they still play that one live.

  • @ErrataStigmata23 [cont...] Songs like 'Exit' and 'Bullet the Blue Sky' are not weak at all, in the case of the former the climax is very violent, the lyrics very sparse throughout, not radio-friendly again. And most of the songs off The Unforgettable Fire are very slow, atmospheric, ambient pieces of music.

I mean, have an opinion, dislike Bono's voice, whatever, but to dismiss them so entirely... (PS I never said 'SBS' was brave? It's just a damn powerful, groundbreaking piece of music.)

  • ur all homos he is the best

  • I was sorely dissappointed by this album. The first two are great, Amethyst RockStar is probably my favourite. This one was pretty dull in comparison. & a U2 remix! As an Irish person, I'm personally offended by that.

I was never a big NIN fan either, tbh - please don't hate me, NIN fans! It's not my fault!

This album wasn't bad. But it was lacking some serious lyrical density, & depth, for that matter - for Saul, that is. It was produced better. But, I'd rather amazing art than good production

  • I will respectfully disagree with that...

I'm listening to Amethyst Rockstar right now (because it's just as good years later ;), and I think there is just as much meaning in Niggy Tardust.. just a little harder to find. There's definitely more repetition and space for instrumentals in NT, so you're not getting bombarded with messages every two seconds, but what you take out of the album remains the same.

  • Uh... Why would you be offended by that?

  • I got this album when it first hit, I was a huge NIN fan and I didn't know what to expect from Saul...needless to say it stayed on my MP3 player for years and I listened to the entire album on the bus too and from work for almost 4 months straight.

Brilliant work, not only did I get some more Reznor loving but I got thrown into an entirely new artists world via Saul Williams!

  • Trent Reznor is the only person in NIN dude.....

  • Trent Renzor is from nine inch nails????

jst kinda sounds like their production

  • Trent IS nine inch nails

  • Trent ISNT nine inch nails, nine inch nails is Trent....Trent is Ghosts

  • Masterpiece Trent reznor for producer of the millenium.

  • sorry lee scratch perry already holds that title, he is THE producer of all great reggae and dub reggae songs/albums

  • That's true. But a close second.

  • Awesome song, awesome pic from an awesome movie

  • what's the movie?

  • Wings of Desire. It's a German film.

  • WTF! FTW!

    Tight Production.

  • hey, that link isn't workin for me man. help out.

also, has anyone read saul william's poetry. it is really moving.

  • I love this song so fucking much. The whole album is pretty great. Saul and Trent should collaborate again.

  • agreed

  • wats this song called

  • Gillespie80 --> It's actually called "WTF!"

  • thanks i thought somebody was sayin wtf bout the song

  • haha

  • Wow. Its like they're meant for each other you know? haha

  • This has to be one of my favorite Saul W albums...they should definitely collab again in the future. Wonderful music.

  • This collaboration makes me think of what would've happened if Aaliyah had lived longer, because she and trent had been in the talks. Anyway, this doesn't suprise me. Trent has always included hip-hop, r&b,pop, and rap as some of his influences. I WAS wondering where his switch to socio-political came from. Though I know that Katrina had a bit to do with it. Really doesn't surprise me that Saul collaborated with him anyway. If there were to be a best band it would be these two plus...

  • Ha, it's actually kind of hard to distinguish between Trent and Saul. You wouldn't expect that.

  • Exactly what I was thinking.

  • @GDGspire Goes to show just how black TRENT is. I mean listen to his music.LOL!

  • I love this album!! Why is it that the best albums go un-noticed??!!

Ending reminds me of Where is Everybody ...

  • EXACTLY!!!! doesnt that suck!! its almost always like that!!!

  • hasnt gone un-noticed.

  • not exactly tapeworm sessions, but it was originalized from it ;)

  • it really is

  • fuck yeah!!! best shit i ever heard!!! good ole' tapeworm session shit!!!

  • wait this is from the tapeworm sessions?

    Or am i confused?

  • I don't think it is, I haven't read it anywhere.

  • One of the most powerful songs ever...

  • This is damn cool.

  • shit's dope.

  • trents lines are the tightest. "im fighting every war at once and im winning. you cant think of me like you did in the beginning." genious.

  • Saul actually wrote those. I believe he sent them to Trent as a text message and then later on they appeared in the song.

  • saul wrote that. Trent recorded it to show saul and saul said put it in the album.

  • TRENT REZNOR & SAUL WILLIAMS FOIR PRESIDENTS

    xD

  • search youtube for stitchiz

  • i concur.

  • how about we all put on strapons and ass rape you?!>?

  • this is produced by trent riZZeznor btw

  • Reminds me of NIN. Good shit.

  • Actually, Trent Reznor co-produced this album beside Williams, so you're right! lol

  • and by co-produced he means produced pretty much all the music

  • Amazing song!!!!!

  • I like how I randomly put in something to the search box and within the first couple of results one(two) of my favorite artists comes up. Solstice Will I Am.

  • yeah "wtf" wassent sure what i'd find. nice.

  • not surprized this kicks ass, trent has allways been unpreditable and sal is 5 star poet.

  • sorry, i ment to write, saul is a 5 star poet

  • you did write that!!!

  • I do believe trents fucking amazing lyricist also d bag. :)

  • Holy crap

I didn't think I'd like it this much

    Yay :)

  • Wow, what a great combo! Saul is the god of poetry as far as I'm concerned, and Trent is just amazing.

  • trent renzor is the man, I own every NIN album, and I agree that this is a good mix of saul and trent.

  • is this album better then his first? cuz i have the first one i dunno if i should get this one too

  • It's an AMAZING album. It's shockingly different than his self-titled album, but in a good way.

It's almost a collision of Trent Reznor and Saul Williams, a partnership, than a Saul Williams album Trent had some small part in, really.

  • i agree, its an amazing album. Seriously...if you dont have it, go get it.

  • This is the one

  • the moon and the sun

  • Trent Reznor and Saul Williams are both sick nasty. Amazing song

  • i agree, they work extremely well together - better than i would have ever expected.

  • my fav

  • "Hey! You ain't as dead as you seem, what the fuck?"

    Love this song!

  • That sounds like Trent Reznor in the beggining and backround, i know he produced this album but i didn't know he did some singing as well. Trent and Saul Willaims are musical geniuses, there music is completely different then todays music scene, and i love it

  • finally his work put to beats like it was meant

  • Lista Duhmandz.

  • track is like the NIN(synths) of hip hop

  • This is the future of music. Someone finally moving FORWARD in music, not staying STAGNANT. I love Saul Williams, he's a genius. And Trent is a musical genius himself.

  • You're so right there. I'm tired of hearing the same old songs about the same things. People need to start coming up with better music, instead of the same stuff. I've always loved Trent Reznor's music, and after listening to Saul Williams I just hope more people realize they need to start making better music.

  • Trent Rezno? I'm gonna check him out.

  • Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails.

  • ElRezzo, optionally ;)

  • Trent does background locals for this.

  • Saul Williams also did some backup vocals for Year Zero; during the chorus of Survivalism and My Violent Heart.

  • Seriously? Hmm, I didn't know that... that's interesting.

  • Yeah i read it somewhere else, but i believe it actually says that in the booklet for YZ itself.

  • when i first heard this song i thought it sounded a little like Trent Reznor

    good song

  • saul williams live show is nice as hell.

  • I'm going to see him tonight!!!!

  • this is one of my favorite songs from niggy tardust.. i highly recommend peeps get the album.. f.y.i. thats trent rezner singing in the begiining! but i trip out how both trent and saul sound alike..

  • <3 this song

  • Is funny...He was in Jacksoul HAHAHA I like this better.

  • I dunno how but eventually this song reminds me of washing machine cleaning out anyone who listens to it : ]

  • This is such an awesome song.....We need more artists like Saul Williams. He is certainly one of the best at what he does...

  • 'Nuff respect to the brotha Saul Williams.Peace from the ATL.

  • Trent Reznor always kept saying how the whole 90's rap-rock era was horrible.

But Trent knows exactly how to mix rap with rock. Trent does it again and this album is one of the most badass album of this year!

  • You're right! This kicks ass!!!!!!:P

  • agree.

  • this is an incredibly badass collaboration.

  • my favorite musician with my favorite poet? HOLY FUCK BATMAN!

  • LOL, best post ever.

    WHAMO! ZONK! KAPOW!

    Good point Robin!

  • thank you for that! lol.

  • lol

    same here

  • This is awesome!

  • This is pretty nice XD

  • Props...

  • awsome Trent Reznor and Saul williams got tight music ihope the more albums

  • punctuation much?

  • Use capital letters much?

  • lol

  • awesome song, probably my favorite off the album atm

  • gonna try 2 catch Saul in NY

I am moved y what he and T are doing

    lisa

  • Well worth the time.

    *concert proximity envy (from sweden)*

  • wait. why has someone taken my last comment in a negative way? I'm saying Saul Williams is great.(I'm going to his concert in London tomorrow with Scoobius Pip) I was just saying that this society of meaningless competetion. top ten this, best 50 that... is pointless and see's a lot of other artists get overlooked.

  • beautiful. absolute best song on the album.

"i can see it in your eyes, you've been hypnotized"

reminds me of how people can be brainwashed so easily by the mainstream.

    i really enjoy this song.

  • amazing

  • "List of demands" and "WTF?"

    my new fav songs

  • he is great but don't get carried away with comments such as...

"You really need to research Saul....

Might be the best poet of our generation"

Its something not even worth thinking about.

  • oops! I already thought about Saul as about best poet! omfg :]

  • Best song on the album.

  • I bought the FLAC files for $5 from Saul's website. Absolutely awesome. NiggyTardust is a brilliant work of art.

  • Awesome, I've always been a big fan of Trent and his works. I liked some of the things he did with Manson, but overall I think manson is a hypocrit character. I never really heared of Saul before, but I like what they did in the songs I heared. 2 Thumbs up.

  • Trent is amzing; Manson is a really smart guy I read is autobiographyl; but I've never really been into his music. If you want someone to do Industrial themed music right check out Skinny Puppy sir.

  • i read that book too. sp is awesome. also check out ThrobbingGristle and Coil. there was a great waxtrax! compilation called Black Box. check that shit out. amazing. MuslimGauze too.

  • How can you even talk about that Manson bullshit when Saul's on the drums and bass? Do you hear this guy trying to make his voice sound scary, because he doesn't have any substance beyond cheeky, petty vulgarity?

This is Saul Williams, he's a, you know... ARTIST. Manson? Just disguised, sneaky pop

  • very nice, intelligent post. this venue needs more stuff like this. a+

  • You really need to research Saul....

Might be the best poet of our generation...

  • i like how they have similar voices, they really blend well together!

  • wow this works great! hell never even knew about this! tut tut on me! but w00t! \o/

  • All I enjoy about NIN music.I've changed my mind as to Saul's lyrics. I like it! I used to write poems and I really enjoy writing, so the way he plays with words is a thing I'm delecting with. Cheers!

  • I've got quite very average speakers at my computer, but once I've listened to WTF and Niggy Tardust on my headphones - my 2fav and only tracks that I trurly listen with pleasure I thought:Trent and Saul cooperation was a !!!!! these lines of sounds stretching like snakes, twisting arround themselves!

  • This album is nuts it's awesome and this song is one of my favs

  • I really like how Trent(?) sings with this high pitch voice in the background it's sweet .Saul's lyrical talent is magnetic. I also love this "lala hey lala hey" or something, at the end of the song. Really lovely composition I've always enjed this kind of mix of voices and melody. I think it's similar like you could hear in some tracks of With Teeth or Y0. in all NIN tracks, this specific style seems to be the most attractive part of Trent's music, as for me. These melodies could go forever...

  • love the pianos... i wonder if this is fuzz distortion

  • Only reason I like it is because. . .

    TRENT REZNOR!!

    *melts from hearing trents voice*

    XD!

  • Saul Williams is amazing kid, you need to realise that.

  • I know that Saul is amazing. I really like both of those artist.

  • Yeah. If Saul wasn't a good musician, you think Reznor would be working with him?

  • this is fucking epic.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

    thats what daddy likes.

  • I'm just joking lol Saul Williams is amazing and Trent is amazing as well. I couldn't think of a better collaboration.

  • WTF

  • omg I dont want to listen any NIN except some "mild" tracks. I listen to more positive music now, like this one. Trent has to invent something different then the style he had for now, or I'll stop beeing a fan. Or maybe not... lol

  • You can't be much of a fan if you only want to listen to their "mild" tracks. The world isn't a bubble wrapped place.

Anyway he only produced this track, the album is Saul William's.

    It's a fucking amazing album.

  • This is an awesome album, I'm usually not into hip hop music. I can listen to gorillaz, deltron 5000, gnarls barkley, massive attack but for the most part the rest sounds too much alike and too mtv, this was a breath of fresh air.

  • I couldn't agree more. The NOT MTV-factor is major here =)

To think that I had tons of fun watching that channel when they started...and now...haven't bothered to switch to it past 7-8 years.

  • Okay , so I love Saul. I have all his books , I want his new album, but I can't bring myself to download it without paying the 5 bucks for it (I don't have a valid credit card atm) but I'm itching for it......

  • Download. No loss. Pay later (I did).

  • I payed, 5 dollars (especially in English money) is nothing) and i was GLAD to. I don't understand these people who are cheap about paying money directly to the artist, it's about appreciation isn't it. Cuts out the middle man of record companies, i like that especially.

  • I finally downloaded this album today and I'm kicking myself for putting it off. WTF is by far my favorite track so far....

  • You waited what, two weeks? It's just music, no panic =) Agreed, nice album.

  • lol, I didn't panic. I didn't mean I was literally kicking myself or anything, just stressing that I didn't think this was going to be too special, and found that it actually is.

  • The albums I come to love are ones I don't like on my first listen. WTF? Is exactly how I felt after listening to this album. Now that I've listened to it a number of times I find it getting better and better. Although I mostly start listening to it at track 5 "Break"

  • that's interestin
