  • im very upset that carolina crown "puck one" was not in the video i thought that was there best songs in 2009 :(

  • ooh i love this video♥

  • oohh i love this video♥

  • My thought process:

"Blue Devils chose Rhapsody in Blue...thats pretty interesting....

    Oh wait, I GET IT!"

  • omg our band won at allentown we got first place for group 5 A :) were going there tomarrow too

  • Why did you cut all the corps off right before the best parts?

  • I got to see this show last year and it was phenomenal!! I can't wait because I get to see this year's show tomorrow (or later today since it's midnight lol!) =D It's gonna be amazing!!

  • emuman4evr, you are exactly right. You have to hear a live show to hear horn line differences. For instance, both Phantom and Carolina Crown tend to have very full and rich-sounding horns, as befits Classical music.

The Blue Devils, on the other hand, who favor jazz, tend to have a brighter-sounding horn line to counterpoint their percussion.

The compression on the web, as well as mp3 and mp4, does not allow the differences in horn sounds to come through.

  • Allentown, PA represent

  • ooh and I love santa clara vanguard and the cadets! They were pretty cool!! ;D

  • I got to see DCI last year and I get to see it again this year!!! They were amazing!!!

  • Cavaliers have some good marching

  • good video...

  • All of the corps are freaking amazing. They all work just as hard as the next.

  • Check out the trailer for the DCI 2010 Countdown in movie theaters 5/13 on the DCI webpage

  • 1:36 best effect ever!!!

  • is that allen town p.a?

  • this is a great video but why didn't you have the company front for Santa Clara? that was way better than what you presented.

  • @madbologna my bad you did

  • Mellos in Bluecoats finale @ 8:34 gets to me everytime!

  • Blue Devils at 5:13 tossing those rifles! Seriously looked like 5 rotations, and the height of the toss!!! WoW!

  • @jadebrew its five rotations at 5:07, at 5:13 its either 8 or 9.

  • @leonard03

In looking at the video again, you're probably right. Either way, it's an amazing toss with no drops.

  • @jadebrew no kidding! i think the highest i can throw is a ten and even then 8's and 9's are hard to catch!

  • love it

  • Still think that the "Puck Section" From Carolina Crown was the #1 moment of the year! These are all great though. CROWN FOR 2010!

  • D: TROOPERS!?!?!

No Troop or BK? I mean, nice recordings of who you did get, but still. :\

  • That was great!

  • beautiful. Why no Troopers??? Are you editing?

  • haha who? I'll hopefully be marching baritone this summer... they've only given out 4 baritone spots

  • Blue Knights? Dude, one of the best shows this year as well. You can't just leave out BK and Troopers.

  • @hevru its ok. everyone forgets about BK. we're used to it.

  • Still wish I would have joined the drum core. It gives me goose bumps every single time! Love It!!

  • sorry, meant to hit "thumbs up" not "thumbs down", i totally agree

  • I can't wait to see Crown live for the first time in 2010. They're going to kick ass.

  • 1:35 is so epic.

  • @fourdblackbelt, I agree Crowns overall drill was very difficult ,their music was also very difficult which is why they should've gotten first

  • drum corps just gives you goose bumps all the time...excellent

  • My goodness, every drum corp this year was amazing!

  • gay...

  • listen at 9:50 it dosent sound in time with the mellos with the rest of the horns.

    or is it?

  • No its together. I marched in that show, and the mellophones had a different rhythm than the rest of the corps, but thats right.

  • @yman4444 o really? wow that sounds so freaking cool!! what did you play??

  • Euphonium

  • @yman4444 Go Euphs!

  • im in love with that F major chord at 1:21 i got the pleasure to hear that in orlando in the standstill

  • ho shet blue devils lmao

  • I've always just loved Blue Stars Music. It has such... Depth. Their marching still leaves something to be desired ;)

  • these drill writers...absolutely phenomenal! some really good moments in here!

  • @Michael55443

    Now they're based in Allentown.

  • False. Marching bands' uniforms look like the Cadets.

  • @Ibanez3789

Sorry, but the numbers are on the side of the marching bands. Many more of them! The Cadets copies the bands, sorry.

  • You are wrong in every possible definition of the word.

  • Wow, what a statement! Cadets are far from followers. I'm sure there are a million people who would agree with me!

    Give some examples???...

  • haha the Cadets are never followers. lol

  • no, marching band uniforms look like theirs.

  • dude, 7:03 looks like a million people jeeze

  • What happened to Crown's Bass 2 at 5:46?

  • wat happened to scv's line at 7:55?

  • no more freakin newspaper zoom

  • yeah, crown should have taken this. some of BD marching was HORRENDOUS.

  • @PogoPantheon I would have liked crown to win also. I enjoyed their show more then BD's, but your crazy if you think crown was cleaner the BD.

  • BD was cleaner but I believe Crown had harder drill overall.

  • @fourdblackbelt your crazy...i really like crown but people dont realize how clean but really how fast bd moves...they run the whole show(well when they aren't sitting) i really thought the best drill went to cadets then bd...the speed is crazy

  • Crown won at Allentown. BD just surged into finals.

  • @Ibanez3789, BD won overall at Allentown. It was a two night competition in which half of the corps never competed head to head with the other half. Crown just had the highest score on the second night of the competition. Crown's score was .5 points lower than what BD had scored on the first night. So Crown did not win at Allentown and BD never lost a show in 2009

  • I know. I was there. And the only reason BD never lost a show was because they didn't go head-to-head against Holy Name or Crown until San Antonio. Holy Name was in first place overall for almost half the season.

  • Actually the only time HNC was ahead of BD overall was when BD went several days without shows and HNC was able to close the nearly 2 point spread BD had over them in the first 2 days of competition. Other than that there was never a point when Cadets were first place overall. As soon as judges were on the field both Crown and HNC showed that they weren't as competitive with BD as many people thought. BD would have been undefeated no matter when they went head to head with Crown or HNC.

  • Don't get me wrong though, HNC and Crown were amazing corps and very entertaining and I have great respect for both organizations.

  • Crown was ahead of HNC for the majority of the season...

  • i Still think crown should have beaten BD.

  • @PogoPantheon sup dude

  • stupid newspaper and horrible video quality

  • 1:33 - I love unison rythym

  • Does anyone else think that horn lines sound the same on video of these quality but when you see them live the difference is blatantly obvious? Like phantom regiment and blue devils both have two very distinct sounding horn lines but on video they sound very similar.

  • I've never really heard a corps live, but I'm pretty sure you're right.

  • @PhantomDevils he is very right. i can listen to a show with no video, and be able to call who it is pretty easily. and i dont even follow it too closely

  • @PhantomDevils I've seen the videos and I've heard corps live. They sound exactly the same.

  • @hexionn may wanna take a trip to the doctor then

  • @hexionn lol they definitely don't sound the same... tone wise, yeah, but it's more intense when you see them live... so amazing

  • I'd say you are totally right.

  • @emuman4evr yes, that's very true. partially because the different horns used, the leaders of the corps. all the different corps have very distinct sounds.

  • @emuman4evr the video is never like actually being there. the highest quality sound you'll get is from the sideline lol.

  • @emuman4evr

To true I find live more....what do you call it better or thrilling then video....

  • @emuman4evr Camera doesn't pick up overtone well but you're totally right. They're all very distinct, especially Phantom and Boston Crusaders =D

  • @emuman4evr Well yes lol, when was something ever the exact same live as on video?

  • @emuman4evr yeah, youre right, and if you find good audio of the shows, the differences are pretty blatant there as well...

  • @emuman4evr Yea Phantom sounds triumphant, Cadets sound full, Cavaliers have that slight tin like quality when they have solos and small section music, Bluecoats sound "Ballsy" as my friend said lol, They all sound so different haha

  • Good but where are the Troopers!?! They made finals after 23 years! You should make a new video with them in it!

  • holy god look at all the drill then look at cadets omfg cadets are booking it damm

  • this is more like a compialation

    sorry bub

  • no puck? wtf....

  • Totally agree...puck was probably in the top 5 of best moments.

  • i agree wit mindfor2012...da troop should have been on here.....give them the respect that they have earned......HLD!!!!

  • 1:49 <3

  • Was this taken from Allentown? If so, they must have done a lot of work on the stadium.

Bluecoats had the best closer IMO. But I really liked Phantom, Crown and Boston's shows.

  • brown55061, I like how you actually have variety. And your not like some of the people on here going "GARH BLUEDEVILS ARE THE ONLY GOOD CORPS IN DCI, ALL OTHER OPINIONS ARE INVALID".

Nothing against BD, im just using them as an example. lol

  • @Sandwichpak

Well most people who have marched and grown up around DCI are not partial to any group. We appreciate the work all the kids in every group put forth. I hated the Cadets for putting soap operas on the field but I would applaud the kid's hard work and talent. The word FAN is not synonymous with INTELLIGENCE. =P

  • @brown55061 So much truth in your statement. This is why in San Antonio I watch the entire show beginning with Revolution instead of hanging out in the lot. When you've marched, you really appreciate what each corps out there does, not just the top tier.

  • @brown55061

Exactly! Thats what i dont understand about people on here. This summer will be my second season marching a top ten drum corps and no matter how much I disagree with another corps designs I can't bring myself to bash them. People in this activity work way to damn hard to get criticized on a website saying your show sucks.

  • I can understand you, I've talked to someone in BD and it's amazing how much he gets bashed by people. I might not have liked someones show but I'm not going to go bash it. Amen for people for the few people like us. Who'd you march for?

  • The show of Phantom Regiment is my favorite show it is very cool

  • Why aren't troopers on either?

  • 2009 was a good year for the Boston Crusaders. Loved their show. Just wondering why Blue knights aren't on.

  • Can anyone please give me information on how auditions work for SCV or SCVCs?

Planning to audition for them on 2011 but I am not sure how stuff goes in DCI

  • the best thing is to go, there is no better way to learn. just be prepared.

  • @goldenecho

what do you meen dont you pretty much memorize the book that you buy?

And you go if you feel your ready?

  • I love how this year that everyone has started saying that the Blue Stars aren't good. They're probably just mad because they beat Phantom. But Phantom show lacked good in visual and GE so they deserved what they got. And Blue Stars are still underrated, the power of their hornline is amazing and they have one of my favorite hornline sounds in DCI.

  • They have a pretty good drumline too!

  • Yeah they do... In my opinion I think last years line was better but thats just me... I think this year will be better for the line cause Aungst is the new capt. head but I hope brass wont suffer because they lost Brad Green but i think Frank Sullivan will be good

  • I'm a HUGE Phantom Phan, but I have to agree with you: Last year's show was definitely a low point for them. I love the Blue Stars. I'm having trouble finding a full video of Le Tour. Can anyone help?

  • does this IUB guy realize that the best parts of almost anything musical are the begining when they are trying to grab your attention, and the end when they are leaving you with that memory?

  • Blue Stars <3 <3 <3

  • Nope marched at glassmen then bluecoats. And u can't march 10 years of D1 drum Corp since u can start when ur 15 and age out with a summer special of 22. So I mean youre making my point for me? Regardless, just rename this to openings and closers dci 2009. K fanboi?

  • Regardless of my flawed example, the word "IF" was used, meaning a hypothetical situation. If you actually know what a hypothetical situation is, then you would also know that I haven't marched 10 years of DCI. I was giving an example of how experience doesn't mean you know more than me on the subject.

  • I thought some corps didn't have a lower age limit?

  • Yea, the ages are from 13 to 21. That in itself shows that he's a fool.

  • :P You'd have to be pretty frickin awesome to do world class drum corps at age 13. But yeah, 13-21.

  • @ahryko You would have to start at something stupid like... age 6 playing, Holy

  • IT depends on what the corps age range is, I don't think you can march until your are at least 16. The rule is, I think, you have to be in High School to march a World Class Corps

  • Whoaahhh.

  • cascades please :D i marched this last summer with them

  • I marched bluecoats last summer as bass 2. Pretty sure I'd know more about it then u. Kthx bai fan boi

  • lol, so because you marched one year in drum corps, you automatically know more about it than me. I'm sorry, do you know me? What if I were to say that I've been marching drum corps for 10 years?

  • All this is is a compilation of the opening and closing statements of everyones show... want to find some actual "moments"? Any 15 year old can take the first and last 30 seconds of the shows and say its the best moments of 2009...

  • And any old 15 year old can make a 2 minute dance video. You don't have to tell me how poorly this video was made. I know.

  • And surprisingly enough, most of all the best moments in DCI actually happen in the beginning and end of their shows.

  • J. Birney crum stadium Just preformed there this year lol

  • Blue Stars epic win at 1:00 with the drumline HOO! and them yelling duts its so badasss!!!

  • i love how this vid has the good corps in the middle of it when they should be at the end

  • I love how some random person criticizes a video and doesn't realize the fact that ALL of these corps are good.

  • @PhantomDevils I know, it's so annoying. Some of my favorites are outside of the top 12.

  • im just saying the end of this vid should be like carolina crown or cadets or cavaliers you know the top 5 in finals

  • gahhh phantom's hornline is so orgasmic

  • not this year!!!

  • Yes this is Allentown!

  • Comment removed

  • I like your video, but you didn't show all the top 12... No Troopers or Blue Knights?

  • theres so many epic moments you cant fitt em all in a 10 minns videos

  • No Blue Knights either? come on that show was sick!

  • wheres teal sounds first impact? :P

  • Is that J. Birney Crum in Allentown Pa....

  • yeah, i marched there TOB (High School) last year er 2 years ago now

  • F T V!!!

  • Where r the troopers??? This can't be a best of 2009 without the troopers

  • were did you get all the videos?

  • it looks like there all from allentown

  • 7:42-8:15 in my opinion is the best part of this entire video. Go SCV!!!

  • I agree. Santa Clara knows how to company front like champions. In my opinion, they have always been the most classy and traditional. My finacee marches in the hornline and is going out for his ageout this year... I cried every. single. time they played the company front, at rehearsal and on the field. Brilliant and oh, so beautiful.

  • i just crapped all over myself

  • yo there was a group with pointed masks and hats on what band was it

  • You cut out the bloooing D:

  • BD drumline is overated they just play really uniform where there arms are the only ting that moves. now SCV is a drumline thats grooves and has emotion and in my opinion had the best drumline this year, all their stuff was well to where it had individual memorable parts, BD just plays really fast rolls with no emotion

  • i totally agree!!!! SCV is the best, hands down, no way anyone will beat their 1989 show!

  • 8:00 was the best moment of my life to see live.

  • as much of a BD fan as i am. i think the only reason they won was cuz they were visually probably cleaner than crown. idk i wasnt there for finals. but even though i love BD i still think crown shouldve won. idk. thats my opinion. another opinion... why are the cavies not doing so well lately???

  • because Jeff Fiedler left...they've never recovered fully since he's left

  • Yea i was there and expected it to be closer. However, Crown did have a few drill(arc dress was horrible) problems.

  • because fiedler left cavies and is now at vanguard

  • The Cavaliers aren't doing well (IMO) because the hornline plays about 4 minutes of (lackluster) music in an 11 minute show. Marching 8 to 5 isn't exciting, and neither is a mezzo-forte dynamic for the whole show. But I'm biased.

  • @GuessBSU Dont worry the cavies Pit makes up some of that lackluster

  • I'd be panting like a fat dog after a marathon if i was in the Cadets, that visual just NEVER ceases to amaze me (the difficulty!)

  • I think you should have used all the finals corps instead of just most

  • ...?? was Carolina Crown missing bass 2?..... check out 5:52

  • lol i think so

  • yes.

  • The worst part of this year was that BD took first place. they sat down on chairs for crying out loud! how did they get first? at least they didnt beat cavies and cadets record of 99.15, but they did not deserve in the 99's. Sorry.

  • dude watch that show live and say its terrible. because it was impossible 4 me. blue devils bring it every year. and they will make you nut yourself.

  • bd had the best show by far, i was watchin the tenor line in the lot and they had arounds where i didnt even know what was goin on, their hands were just movin and the drums were makin noise.....that whole line was just badass!
