Very nice use of minor pentatonics here, which make a nice base for a funk solo always. However.....I know this is improvised but the timing was a little off - rushed or exicted, sounded like it needs some tightening up. Notice when he has a steady motiff or riff, suddently the timing is back solid there. Although the use of pentatonics for soloing is supposed to be easy, they still need some dedicated work with the metronome and these licks will lay down better. High level stuff here.

It is a regular Belite, not the Custom model, right? Also what brand and strength of reeds do you use with it? And what type of ligature? I just order a Beechler Belite 7 and apparently it doesn't come with a ligature.

Is this a Beechler diamond s7s, a beechler custom jazz, or a beechler custom studio mouthpiece?

I played a beechler bellite 7 for years, and to my ears the sound in this video is better and more unique then a beechler bellite 7

The high notes are over tones. Google altissimo for sax. The fingerings are not the same for ever horn or player. There are some genaric fingerings that need to be enhanced by your embucher and other minor fingering changes to clear up intonation problems.

@liffysoul it's not really about the fingerings. You can look up altissimo fingering charts online, but you really have to tweak them to find the ones that work for you. It's more about what you do with your throat and air to make the notes pop. Lots of practicing. Good luck!

Thanx, man. I use a beechler metal #7 now, but in this solo I was using a hard rubber beechler. That metal just cuts like a laser beam in the altissimo - couldn't resist it. I also play a Yamaha 62 alto.
