I was always able to quote The Erl King, Ruth and Johnny, and Dust (Still remembered Agatha Morley) These were my favorites,. For 40 years I've remembered these poems. I couldn't remember how the Cradle that rocked by itself went and thought I would check online. I cant believe you still had this record and you posted it!!! I listened to this record so much when I was a kid, I think I wore it out. So many memories!!! Thanks!!!
Yep, I had the record and book back in the 70's when I was a kid and I wish I still had it. I remember listening to the record and staring at the record cover, it fascinated me beyond words! Thanks so much for posting, I've been missing this one for so long especially The Velvet Ribbon!
Love it, love it, love it. And I still have the original 45, and the book that goes with it. My favorites are Langston Hughes' "Winter Moon" (How thin and sharp ...) and "It isn't the cough that carries you off ..."
I, too, had this LP. Especially the "Velvet Ribbon". For the longest time, I had no idea where I got, "I told you, you'd be sorry". Now, thanks to you, I know. Thank you!
Part 1-I wish I could tell you all how much this means to me. I looked for this for years. I, too, ordered it from Scholastic when I was about nine back in the early seventies. I loved it. I used to listen to it constantly. I used to love Halloween in those days. I loved to be scared by things like this. I remember listening to this while I looked at the book in which it came.
Wow! What a blast from the past. I too as the others had this record as a kid and stumbled on this by accident. I'm so glad I did and thanks for posting it!
Thanks so much for posting this. I had this record in the 70's, ordered it through Scholastic at school. My two favorites were "The Bat" and "Dust". Would love to have heard both of those recited by Vincent Price.
