I wish I could follow what your showing in your videos lol ( i never in my life wore makeup ) I am 20 yrs old, ppl say tht is a good thing but I want to learn to put on makeup i just found ur videos and i am going to watch them alot more and hopefully i can learn from you. :)
my skin is darker around my mouth...therefore i apply a concealer around it to make it even tonne...should i apply the foundation after i apply concealer or before ...please help
Sometimes I do, sometimes not. I rarely wear powder as my skin is so dry as it is. Though honestly, lately whenever I wear intense eyeshadows I do set it with powder - also because I have been sleeping well, so the puffiness of my under eyes is more noticeable when it's not matted down with powder.
I always picture Jessie from Queen Of The Damned by Anne Rice looking like you... I don't know why but I decided to tell you. Awesome look! I like it alot!
loved the video, risa! very nice clean and subdued look that is still very pretty. i didnt see that mink pink color on the website and im actually quite a few shades darker than you (golden beige in Laura Mercier's oil-free foundation).... is there another eye shadow combo u can recommend for darker skin?
Wow, I didn't know it was discontinued :/ Hmm, for darker skin, I would just suggest finding a shade that's a few shades darker than your skin tone - whether it's a pink or brown or greyish purply color. I'm not familiar with laura mercier shades so I'm not sure how dark you are but in regards to MAC shadows maybe try Saddle, wedge, blackberry, swiss chocolate, brown down...wow! I just looked on MAC's site (it's been years) and they discontinued so many amazing veluxe/matte colors! :(
risa you should try lickable lipstick from mac. it's a nice bright pink, super in this season, would look great with magenta lipliner. it's a cremesheen finish. it's really nice and it would look awesome on you
risa, you're BEAUTIFUL and i don't know what the hell you're talking about in your other videos when you mention having dry skin or developing wrinkles, because your skin is to DIE for. what do you think is the most important step in a face care regimen? does it really depend on a person's skin type?
*mascara mistake tip* let it dry then take a Q-tip and wipe it away :) use makeup remover if needed :) [if it's dry it just flakes away] i love this tutorial :)
I agree. Let it dry, and then just using your fingernail, it will just flake away and you don't mess up your makeup, otherwise you will make a complete mess and ruin your makeup if the mascara is still wet.
I would actually say that almost all women do look a LOT better with foundation on, most of the time concealer alone won´t cut it. It doesn´t have to be heavy coverage or anything, but not everybody is lucky enough to have flawless skin. I think it kinda looks weird to have really nice eye makeup on, but no foundation..it doesn´t look put together
Using foundation can give you even coverage and all, but if you wear it too often, it can clog your pores. wearing something less heavy like concealer lets your skin breathe a little better, reducing any chance of getting break outs mostly caused by foundation if worn too often and not taken off properly. Plus when you're at school wearing foundation, you tend to sweat and stuff and it's nasty, and you don't want your face feeling caked like that during the day. I hope I helped!
ShimmeringDelight covered most of what I wanted to respond with but also that I find foundation can become almost an addiction to the point that women end up wearing it almost as a mask. And rather than taking care of their skin, and letting their own natural "glow' shine through, it can become an obsessive need to cover every "flaw".
Grr..I went back to school today and our teacher is soo strict! She told us we can't wear any eye makeup! I've gotten away with 3 years of wearing loud eye makeup and now I can't even wear liner on my top lashline! Its so stupid,I don't understand how taking off my eye makeup is gonna make me learn better. If anything I'm gonna feel so uncomfortable without it I'll be more distracted.I mean we wear a uniform so we all look the same and our makeup is the only thing that shows an ounce of creativity.
how annoying for u! u could try getting ur eyelashes tinted, it makes them appear thicker and longer without mascara! also putting black eyeliner on the upper water liner makes lashes look thicker but i doubt ur teacher would notice it! hope this helped! xx
Eeek! Sorry to hear that, though do try to look on the brightside and maybe try to get comfortable with how you look without it? Schools can be VERY controlling. Try putting some liner on your upper waterline and run it between your lashes. That way, it wont be so noticeable that you're wearing eyeliner, but it will still frame your eyes.
That's discrimination of a person's beliefs and style. Nobody can tell you to do your hair some way or makeup one way, except if it involves racism or some sort. That's fucking stupid. You could actually sue them, I'm in Canada... so I don't know about the laws there
I wore some liner this exact look today cept without any hint of a flick at the end and just kept my head down whenever she came near me :)
She brought baby wipes in with her though and told 5 people to take off their makeup!
I know I could get used to not wearing it, its just that because we are already made wear a uniform and the only way we can really express our individually is by our shoes and makeup (And I already get given out to for wearing my converse!)
Damn. That's bad. I really truly think it's against human rights for a FRIGGIN teacher to do that. It's not like your in the army or something. That's discrimination. Does the principal think the same? If so, human rights can back you up. Seriously. I'm pretty sure it's illegal against a person's right. Make-up is truly an art, and with all my extravagant look and the people different style. It's stupid to take off your identity and illegal.. I rely hope it gets better !! - from a mua & advocate
Or what would you recommend for such a natural look? I just want to even out my skintone but not too much coverage :-/ everywhere I go recommends me foundation that is TOO much coverage for me. *sigh*
tinted moisturizer is great for a natural look. Also, if you want to use your favorite foundation but you think it's just too much coverage for a day/natural look, just mix it with a moisturizer before applying it to your face. If you use a wet cosmetic sponge to apply, it also looks a lot more natural. Hope that helps!
moisturizing and even makeup makes me break out, so i usually skip moisturizing my skin in the interest of keeping my acne to a minimum. i would honestly rather have wrinkles when im 40 than pimples all over my face... :(
oh not at all! Believe it or not, sometimes I actually do my own makeup like this *gasp* - yes I know lol. No but seriously, for a lot of people it's easier to do dramatic makeup, but they don't know how to balance a more natural look. I had that problem for YEARS. - Hence the tutorial :)
I appreciate this softer look particularly since I just cannot pull of the dark looks. My eyes are small enough under my heavy brows. So thanks.
Oh, you may want to consider zooming out a bit. The camera loses focus more often since you have started zooming in during application. Just a thought.
I noticed that you put moisturiser on your eye lids, which I never do, as I have very heavy lids, I just wondered what your reasons were for doing this?
And I love how you show tricks, like using lipstick as blush or pigment mixed with clear gloss on the lips. So many ppl are locked into where the cosmetic company says the product goes, but it's nice to play with it and you get more use out of it, too!

I believe Face Atelier is sold at sephora...though I could be wrong. Lilicent *might* be a dupe cream blush by MAC.

She doesn't wear foundation, only concealer.
I would recommend you just try out a tinted moisturizer and maybe a little loose powder.
It's simple, and natural, but will really even out your skin tone.
