A true legend and gentleman. I think the music was used for some movie about a u-boat. Not the most suitable, but still the moment was captured and if anything the mans legacy is " you only have a short time on this earth, use it".
@Kilvere5 Thanks for your comment. Just to explain that the music. Is Siegfried's Funeral March from Wagner's Götterdämmerung. It was used to great effect by Boorman in Excalibur (search for "Excalibur — The end (DVD quality) ". I love everything from the mysterious opening bars to the crescendo...and this is my humble tribute to a great man of the majestical and hauntingly beautiful Irish hills, a man who was an inspiration to us all.
@CapVertigo Take your point and it's only a matter of taste. Excalibur, one of my favorites movies. Joss deserves all the praise and homage that is laid at his feet. I started walking to the " leisure walks near Dublin" and his personality came through. His enthusiasm for "getting out there" and lack of fussiness has left its mark.
I'm now an addicted walker and am one who may not have "put on the boots" only for him. respect !!
Hi Cap,was at the ceremony for Joss and you even have footage of me taking video footage.I will be posting it up very soon.Even the first Irishman to climb Mt.Everest,Dawson Stelfox turned up to honour Joss.
@divild1 Its an awful pity that I didn't get the chance to meet you. It was an honour to have been there. I have more footage but I didnt want the vid to be too long. Looking forward ertigoyour next contribution. CapV
Nice video for an old gentleman and august mountaineer. His likes may be around again , we may meet them on the mountains , but they will be rare. Like Newman's gentlemen ...always ready , but never in the way.
