  • wow great invention, im sure no one else could have thought of thought, your deffinitly gonna make millions on it

  • @connjamm19 I invented the trash can because I needed it. You invented the penus pump because you....................

  • @london1817 wow you would be so poor to need to collect rainwater, dont you know that water costs like 2 cents a gallon, jesus christ dont be so cheap, and also why are you so interested in my dick? you must be poor and gay... i feel bad for you

  • @connjamm19 I need this much water to wash your moms back

she is a big gal and it takes 100 gallons .....son.

  • @london1817 nice comeback really

  • @connjamm19 I raped your mother's asshole and she shit you out a few hours later.

  • @savemyplaylist You'd know wouldn't you mom. Can you touch your asshole with your dick?

  • @london1817 hahahahahaha!! I was responding to connjamm's trolling.

  • @savemyplaylist sorry about that. I am kinda crazy because all

these terrible comments. My bad man. have a nice day!

  • @london1817 No prob, it was a funny response either way. By the way, keep up the good work with the water collection.

  • @savemyplaylist Thanks for the comment!

  • where do you live? it's so beautiful there.

  • @johnrocks2hell Here in NC. It is nice here. no jobs, but nice country.

  • i bet you have a lot of plants to water.

  • Mmmm, Kerosene water. Say hello to Cancer for me.

  • I don't understand how your 4 barrel system works. In my opinion all 4 barrels should be at the same level and connected to each other on the bottom, so they will fill evenly. You've made some sort of water feature!!!

  • Just put a mosquito net over it ?!?!

  • hát ehhez kurva nagy tudomány kell :D

  • use mosquito dunks 4 the pest problem...find it a big box stores

  • I hear the biggest concern with these is that if you don't have the seals perfectly tight you risk infestation by mosquitos and other bugs that like laying eggs in standing water

have you come across this issue? and if so do you take any measures against contamination of any sorts ( i suppose less of a concern since the water is only for plants, not for drinking.. but the bug issues.. espcially wherei am in Jersey, is a big issue)

  • I have an upgrade video. This system had serious bug issues! I tore it down and started over. It was a good start but the dern mosquitos were all over.

  • flp; hey 'new-joisy"!!! lol...dont want bugs in your water? put 2 or 3 tablespoons of olive oil on the surface of the water; bugs cant penetrate the film, and its not poisonous--hope it helps, it does for me , here in 'floriduhh'!!!

  • @veedubyuh82

Thanks for the advice, i'll have to try that

(FYI, no one from new jersey actually says it like that.... maybe people from New York..lol)

  • @1:40 After the 4 barrel demo. You say the hose goes down the hill, over and around to .... "some plants" that I water with a soaker hose. So, what kind of plants do you grow in the WOODS?

    Too funny!

  • Hahah LOL! wishful thinking. Sorry but it goes to some sibeirian elm trees...........sorry...hahaha you thought it went to mexican redhair didn't you???

    Or alabama creaper ??

  • what the fuck?

  • Check with your local car wash. Sometimes they use 55 gal barrels and give them away. Most food manufacturers have a few for free or cheap. Call around. Craigs list is another source of barrels.

  • what kind of plants you watering? aaha just kidding.

Nice videos! You should have a show on green planet or something.. call it, CHEAPEST EVER! Thanks for the helpful tips! I'm building a green house for my garden right now.. I just need to condure up an idea on how too keep the rain water from freezing this winter.

    Thanks again! :)

  • Haha, Wishful thinking! ( plants watering). My barrels didn't freeze & i am in NC. The top freezes a little but the rest is fine.

Or, you could drain it cause your not watering in the winter anyway....Or are you?

  • Actually am watering in the winter. I'd like to keep my tomato plants hydrated! So far thats all growing in my garden.. NC.. a little warmer then where I'm from.. I'm sure It'll be fine. Try it out this year.

    peace n love

  • ive got the same type ,made from garbage cans,i use a subpump ,for more presser and water,i use solar panel to power sub pump, save money too.

  • out of curiosity, where in the states are you? i live in southern canada and my area looks very similar

  • For all the users that have debris, bugs, algae, and critter problems with their rain barrel system. I recommend a rain diverter kit called RainReserve.

  • Curious if you have any problems with mosquitos?

I live in FL and this setup would be a nightmare for breeding them.

  • one method i heard mentioned was to float a top layer of polystyrene packing/shipping "chips" on top of your rain water barrel

They block the surface to breeding mozzies.

  • How do you keep the bird from crapping into your setup? filtering/boiling after the water is collected?

    thanx-

  • I don't mind if they crap in it. It is better fertilizer for the plants. Hhahahah

  • I only water siberian elms with that tank. The privacy bushes around the property line. Thanks for the comment.

  • Just out of curiosity did you clean out the fuel tank before you put water in it and how did you clean it if so? just thought it was odd that you would water possiby edible plants w/ tainted water? Petrochemicals such as fuels comtaminate water as to make it non drinkable!! 1 drop of fuel will dessimate 50,000gal of water. just a simple observation.

  • Thnaks for sharing

  • its a great system, now add a solar hot water system. you can use the rain water for this. the rain water is soft and u use less soap to wash and you get a better clean. with the sun heating your free water how much more could u save? then catch your gray water in another tank and water your plats with it. if you dont use bleach you will cause the bugs to leave. so u culd have a win, win, win, like your smile

  • You are one smart cookie! If you lived next door we could come up with the craziest inventions.

Thanks for the creative ideas! Rick.

  • hey does rain water help the growth of plants compared to tap/ distilled water? Why and how so?

    please answer if possible!

    Thanks Guys!

  • Best question ever! I don't really have a good answer for that.

Its cheaper and you don't have to drain your well to water all your plants.

  • okay thanks a lot bro

  • Cool....Its a great idea for gardeners.

  • Do you have any kind of filter on the on the down spout before water enters the barrel? Most barrels I've seen either have a fine screen on'em to keep debris out, or the downspout has a screen. More advanced systems have a separate small pre-tank which fills up first- so the crud off the roof isn't carried into the main tanks.

Great video- very inspiring. Those rubbermaid-style garbage cans are much more affordable than dedicated rain barrels. Keep up the good work and skate on! :-)

  • Those blue barrels are usually found for $7-10 US which would make them even more affordable than trash cans. Those barrels are also food-safe plastic as opposed to trash cans should you decide to water a vegetable garden.

  • Yeah this vid is old check out my newer video's on this stuff!

  • Your a modern day Mcgyver

  • Well, Thanks for the nice comment!

  • 7 to 10 bucks? Dayum. I must be shopping in the wrong places. A few places I have found'em want closer to $30!

  • Where do you find the blue barrels for $7? They start at $70 in most places.

  • I get them used at a tool place a few miles from my house. They were used, previously, for red wine vinegar. I live in western NC. If you look around you should have no problem finding any. Theres no need to spend a small fortune for a new barrel for collecting rain water. These are food safe, should you decide to store water for personal consumption. Maybe I should start selling barrels on youtube..lol Take care

  • Funny how people think tap water is safe, you water your plants with it and they die. Then they are afraid of rain water. Us Indians can see you are idiots.

Have a nice cup of bleach and flourine dumbass, the rain water will kill you.

  • I water little trees in my yard with this. I don't have tap water at my house. I have a well for drinking. What tribe are you from?

  • Oh, I'm just a small part Indian, more from the boy scout tribe than any Indian tribe, I subscribe to the indian way of thinking though. I should add I was calling people who are afraid of rain water the idiots. (and some of my favorite people are idiots too, unfortuneately)

  • Yeah,...me to I got the badge with the dura logs on it. Hhaha. Thats right piss on people who hate rain! I love a rainy night..just like the song!

  • How will the rain water kill you?

  • Nice re-use of the old propane tank.

  • It works great for watering trees. Well.....til it rusts thru! Hhaha

  • Good work :)

  • Hey thanks!

     I try.

  • I watched this video about a month ago and you inspired me to build my own. I started with a 64 gallon setup and I now have a 200 gallon collection system. Thanks for the idea. No more tap water for the flowers:)

  • That is great! I am glad I could help you!

It really is a waste using tap for flowers and gardens. Thanks for the comment!!!! Rick.

  • you dont drink that do you?

or do you filter it before you drink it?

  • Haha no way! I water trees and the garden.

  • don't be waterin your vegetables with kerosene. and don't let your wind turbine fall off and fly into the neighbors yard hitting them in the head.

  • I will try to. Sometimes I wish the turbine would hit my neighbors!!!!! Haha.....Rick..

  • thanx this could help me ur cool man

  • Your welcome! Thanks for the comment!

  • Well done, gotta love any efforts of this type. Your a survivor and I'm taking some of your ideas from your videos, Appreciate your efforts !!!

  • lol look at the huge smile on his face as he explaines what he did

  • I was happy about that water tank man.

  • yeah i know :P

  • How do you get the water from the barrel to the plants you are watering? Do you have to full up a watering can and walk over to the plants, or can you hook up a hose at the bottom of the barrel to water the plants?

  • Well, There has been some major upgrades since then...Check out my newer videos on this. Thanks for the comment.

  • thats really cool. super right on!

  • Well thanks for that comment!

  • how clean is rain water...is it drinkable? Lets say you collect the water like normal then you run it through some sort of filter..Isn't rain water pretty damn pure?

  • It would have to go thru a treatment process I am sure somebody would know. I just water my trees & garden. Thanks /...................Rick.

  • Very practical.

  • So what do you do with all this water??

    jeje thats awsome!!!!

  • I water my little garden.

  • And the skate ramp is awesome.

  • I skate it like a king!

  • Did you build your ramp? I would love to come skate i haven't skated in years but i got a new bard damn boards are different now compared to the 80's lol

  • Hahaha!! Yeah I had to make the big move to popsickle stick boards a while back too!!!

I loved the 80's skate scene...

back then when one of your friends rode up on his board you could tell by the shape what board it was!! Not anymore.

Come on over!! Skate or die my brother!! Oh ...Yes I built the ramp...Thanks..Rick.

  • Classic. Love it.

  • Looks like he still spent more on his rain barrel than his house

  • Ha,Ha, That is my work shop.

Watch some of my other videos.

    That was funny though!!!!!!!!!

  • how do you know thats his house?

  • Thank you ralph. That is my workshop. Its not pretty but it is 30' x 25'.

  • Did you know that are Government that looks after us slaves is trying to say they own the rain water and they want to charge for such infringments as this....I say They are not our government

  • The govt is now wanting to tax farmers for each cow they own for a "farting" tax ...claiming that cow & pig farts are breaking down the ozone layer...$175 tax per cow & $20 tax per pig . Incredible or what?

  • finely made the video to capture rain water with a parabolic dish which is quicker then a regular bucket. hope you all enjoy it

  • just type in narcovice and it will bring up my videos im making it now . its better to capture rain water i catch rain water at 100 gallons every 2 minuutes

  • going to make a new video soon and show how i make rain water purified from a parabolic dish hoe you all like it.

  • sounds like a great video!!! send it to me if you don't care!! Thanks.

  • Good luck with the weed crop!

  • I was thinking the same thing

  • dude u need to add some flowers or do something around u house..?

    too

  • i am curious to know who is the women ding the camara work? is her name kathryn??

  • No. Her names Christina.

  • thanks for writing back... the voice just sounded so alive.. you are doing great work inspiring people with your ideas..

  • with all the chem trails that are everywhere how clean is rain water?

  • Well I wouldn't want to drink it straight up but people filter & drink it. Watering flowers is a good idea.

  • Very cool rain harvesting...check out my viseo soon-to-come detailing me building a 550 gallon rain harvesting system with both a pump & gravity disbursement...also great bamboo videos!

  • its a cool vid i have an idea for mountain living people if u take and put some cone shaped object on top of a hill higher then your house u could get a fresh clean water source

  • Impressive system! Thank you for spreading the DIY mentality.

  • Thanks,, It don't have to be pretty just able to get water.

  • Is big, good job! What I am planning to do in my house is burry them, then pump out the water. That way the City wont see it. I am still working with my son on the solar energy. There is another video incorporating the solar panel and a pump to pump the water out.

  • Thanks for the this video too! I didn't have an idea how to start. Here in North TX, we are affraid to water the plants. Even if I live off the City limits the City Water Dept will give us a fine if we use X amount of water.

  • hey you are welcome. I have a video on how to make rain barrels that hook up to the house off the gutters. I will post soon

  • Hey Guys,

I checked out your videos and I must say I m impressed. the rain buckets and solar power are great steps towards self reliance. Did you go to school for electrical? or were these just weekend hobbies?

  • I just thought about what I wanted to do & did a little research and came up with a plan. Thanks for the comment....Rick.

  • the spirit of indepedance

  • One suggestion, the hose near your carport, should be at the bottom of the bucket. so in a drought you can water your plants. and you seem to have a lot of vacuum hoses.

  • It is funny isn't it....Rick has lots of vacuum hoses. We use the barrels near the carport to water but we usually dip the water pot into it and then water. Thanks so much for watching. We don't use any of our well water......we only use rain water for watering our plants.

  • are you a sk8er?

  • Sure........Rick skates, Kyle skates....I video

  • cool

  • you should post a vid of you sk8ting or have you already

  • how do you keep the rain barrels in the winter (snows)?

  • Our winters are fairly mild. Our snow days are few so we haven't had any issues yet

  • You have a lot of plants.... why didnt we get to see any of them ? :(

  • We do have a lot of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, veggies.......and this list goes on. I think I drive Rick mad when I go to the store and come back with more. we'll plan a video to show them all. thanks for watching

  • do you skate board?

  • I have been skating for years. It is great exercise & fun.

  • That's awesome. I got a garbage can today and I will do the same thing. You inspired me to have a bunch of them around my house :)

  • Wow Vic that is alot of rain!!! You need to invent some kind of rain generator!!!!!!! Rick.

  • Sorry Reffup..I am watering elm trees and giant truja wind block trees in the yard.

     Thanks for the laugh! Rick.

  • what kind of "plants" you grow?? their not sticy smelly weeds are they?

  • Rick I had 29cm of rain fall on 13th jan 2008 LOL I`m emptying the buckets now!! Scotland = Rain!! lol
