Barack has had eight years in State Senate and now 4 years in US Senate. In addition to these years of reviewing legislation, he lead the effort to pass the broadest ethics reform legislation in 25 years. Plus he is a Harvard Law graduate and spent many years (about 10) teaching and practicing law focusing on constitutional law and individual rights. He spent years working in the inner city making changes where it is needed by bringing people and politicians together and raising funds.

*sigh* I don't know what the sales taxes are in either city -- I don't live there, they don't affect me. Sarah Palin didn't fix corruption in Alaska she was part of it. Did she clean some of it up? Sure, but she was part of her own corruption as well. Obama is raising taxes for people who make over $600k a year, that's it. And the economy has always done better under democrats for the last 60 years, to me that's much more important.

But DUDE, compare McCain's positions prior to 2006 (when he was cool) to now. He's actually changed in almost every way. It's quite sad.

He wanted Lieberman very very badly, but the party didn't because of possible convention backlash, many sources close to the campaign have talked about this. Second of all, she isn't for smaller government, and isn't for corruption reform, and isn't for lower taxes. She says she is, but her record doesn't support that assertion. here are some facts: 2 terms in city council with less than 7,000 people and 20 months in governor of a state smaller than the city of Charlotte, NC. If you can adequately explain how that prepares her to be Vice President of the United States, I'll listen to you.

She has the instinct and leadership capabilities that she was born with. The Governor of the state of Alaska has the same responsibilities. The size of this state and its access to energy including her energy plan gets my vote. Tell me how the Governor of Arkansas is qualified to be president. At least Obama has some experience in government. She was in the city council for two terms, then mayor of a city over under 7,000 people. Then she was governor for 20 months of a state that has a smaller population than Dallas Texas. Any rational intelligent person who understands this, has to admit that she has absolutely zero experience and is in NO WAY whatsoever ready to be second in command of this nation.

Being a mayor is being a mayor no matter how big or small the city is. So what if she is governor of a state with a small population? Size wise, it's the biggest state in the union. As governor, she lowered taxes, balanced the state budget, and gave the surplus back to the people. I'm completely rational and intelligent and I think she will not only be a great second in command but she would be amazing behind the Resolute Desk. (BTW: her hometown's population is about 9,000 not 7,000).

Her hometown was about 7,000 when she was mayor. It's the biggest state in the union, sure, but has fewer people than the city of Charlotte, NC. Budgets are smaller, staffs are smaller, and the working environment is much different. Being a mayor of a small town doesn't immediately qualify you to be mayor of New York City, don't you think? I feel very strongly that she needs some experience in the federal government. So far she's an inexperienced hothead and to me that's disturbing.

According to your rationale, if you are the governor of a smaller state, say my birth state of Arkansas you aren't in any way qualified to run the country or be the mayor of say LA? It's case by case. If she had a D after her name, you would be celebrating her for selling the governor's jet on ebay, cleaning up corruption & balancing the budget.

If she had a D after her name I'd be incredibly disappointed in the Democrats for choosing someone who has so little experience, not to mention that she's a religious wingnut, one-time secessionist, pork barrel spender, and the list goes on. And she's not unqualified just because of the size of the state - she just hasn't done it long enough, doesn't have experience on the national stage, and doesn't have any experience in the rest of the world.
