  • Great Movie!

  • have the record for this... Soo dope

  • Eight people didn't follah. Sorry but I had to do that. One of the greatest films ever made.

  • Superb acting; superb movie! Had greatly enjoyed at New Empire, Mumbai, in 1973.

  • awesome.

  • from 《The Hustler》 knew Paul Newman..

  • This looks hysterical actually...

  • 0:49 smooth.

  • My school's doing a play of this, the guy who gets hit the the briefcase at 0:31 is the one im playing lol

  • My school's doing a play of this, the guy who gets hit the the briefcase at :31 is the one im playing lol

  • Paul Newman was one of the sexiest men ever born!!!!!

  • 1970s best picture winners are all classics... well i guess Kramer vs Kramer. ya

  • That was my dad's favourite movie..Just saw it yesterday and really loved it!!

  • Sexy Men

  • Why does Hooker blow all of his money from the first grift on one roll? Who takes their date to a sleazy casino? And why does stripper date ditch Hooker just because he looses his money?

  • @TheFlanker35 Because people make mistakes.

  • my dad has this on laserdisc, but i haven't seen it....yet

  • i love this movie, so clever

  • Still one of the best movies. Brilliant last scene!!!

  • oh yeah i would love to get you back in time to 1936 when this movie was set in a you would not last a day i would set you up for the big sting just like theses guys did and you would ls oes real big sucker!

  • utter rubbish this is one of the great con movies ever if and when you don't belive it then you have just been stung that is the whole point and oh that ragtime music need i say more!

  • Hey can you say me the soundtrack starting at 1:16 ?

  • Best Con movie Ever !

  • i never got time to watch this movie cos i don`t like films with sound like this but i didn`t even know Bobby Redford was in this!!

  • My grandfather direct this move

  • @timothy51886 thats awesome XD

  • The only film that has you going until the very - VERY! - last second of the movie. Utterly brilliant.

  • 1973 was a lousy year for Oscar except for Jack Lemmon. This overlong, only intermitently interesting film shows the bizarre Redford mugging for the camera that curiously was apparently so appealing to many back then. I for one am mystified by Redford's ability to fool others into thinking he could act.

  • do you think robert redford looks abit like brad pitt on 0:39 ?

  • The voice over guy's a cunt, I've never seen this and was planning on watching it until..."...this time, they might get away with it!" spoil the ending why don't you!! Anyway, looks a good movie :)

  • @13haydn14 Actually the Voice Over is referring to the previous movie with Newman and Redford, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where they didn't get away with it.

  • @Iank14 apologies, seems my ignorance got the better of me :)

  • @essahsaeidi sorry i know its not that one i heard the entertainer many times in both piano and the sting version

  • lol i can do all those card flourishes

  • 0:18 what song is this!? (its not mapple leaf rag or the favorite someone give me the real name!!)

  • oceans 11 is like remake of the sting brad pitt /redford clooney/newman similar relationships almost the same plot

  • If you ask me - this is one of the greatest film's in the Hollywood history. Fantastic music, great plot and incredible cast - Newman and Redford at their best. Stunning.

  • This film was pretty good, but it is no masterpiece. Better films that year were Mean Streets, Badlands, Last Tango in Paris, and Day for Night

  • @TheNEWfilmfanatic99

This movie is Exhibit Gunk-o-schmell as the most impossible tale ever told. No one could have been bamboozled by this laugh-out-loud, mickey mouze, kindergarden set up. No words can describe how utterly nonsensical it is. It's supposed to be telling a believable story but it turned out to be a low-grade comedy. It's a shtoo-pee.

  • @lumpagogo ever heard of bernie madoff? guess you were too poor to invest. go along now, back to your minimum wage job.

  • @ChesterDoraemon

Comparing a cartoonish scenario to a real-life, sophisticated Ponzi scheme is, uh, what is called a 'dumb-kee'---a dumb-kee written by a dumb-kee, i.e. you.

  • @lumpagogo

"The Sting" pretends to be realistic but it could never have happened in real life. Many of us (including yours truly) might not be very smart but no one could be so stupid as to be fooled this way, esp. such a shrewd and successful character. Worst movie ever in this context.

  • a soccer team in Chicago back in the 1970's was named after this movie. The lettering, colors and the team logo is very identical.

  • It's a perfect movie. The music is perfect, the story is perfect. Robert Redford is the best and Paul Newman the largest <3 I love it!

  • i stumbled across this when i was about 14/15 late at night and instantly loved it.amazing story..full of twists and turns.brilliant performances, great music.the card scene on the train is one of my favourite of all time..so memorable.total classic.i imagine theyll remake it and destroy it.i wont be watching

  • This is as near to perfection as you can get. I watched it many times as a teenager.

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • youre joking right?

OF COURSE IT IS its one of the best movies ever one of them you CANT make a sequel too it won 7 academy awards in 1973 (including best picture) it got a great soundtrack so if you like movies that takes place in the 30's and scott joplin then this is the movie for you

  • hes not as tough as he thinks

    neither are we XD

  • 0:23 which song?

  • sounds like maple leaf rag by Scott Joplin

  • orchestral or piano version?

  • piano of course

  • okay its just when i try to find it on youtube it dosent sound like the one in the trailer (piano version)

  • i think its actually "The Favorite" by scott joplin

  • @dylannollner If it's the theme song you are taking about, it's "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin

  • that nose touch is where Dr Cox gets his nose touch from in scrubs:)

  • viva spanish!!!!!!!!groing

  • AmazingMovie!!!

  • you never see movies like those anymore

  • @dino7090 true man

  • @dino7090 most films then were better, the godfather, citizen kane, etc.

  • @meatloaf928 duuuude. citizen kane is like 30 years older than sting and godfather. so 'then' kind of doesnt describe it.

  • This movie is the best. This and The Great Escape are childhood favorites of mine.

  • Jusr finished watching this movie for the first time. Loved it. Great writing. Great acting...Ya follow?

  • My personal favourite. Absolute amazing. Robert Redford, Paul Newman, rest of the cast, plot and everything is just perfect. I love it.

  • I am a fan of John Scarne, who was a mathematical genius and a magician. Hired by the casinos to help catch cheaters. The fancy card dealing in this movie was his moves....

  • OMG THIS WAS AN AMAZING MOVIE!!!

i could watch it over and over again :D

  • 1:18

    What song?

  • One of the best movies ever made!

  • When I see today's 2 bit dick joke, pratfall ridden, high school sophomore mentality, so called "comedies", THIS is why I call them crap.

  • it's true very few films have that tongue in cheek logical comedy. It's why i like the oceans films. this film is amazing. if you like this movie check out Emperor of The North(pole). Even the original taking of pelham 123 was good (all mta employees in ny are as jaded as that). The new one was awesome too, but not as funny.

    Then again times have changed.

  • amazing movie <3

  • A cure for homosexuality?

    HA!

Fine. How about a cure for hating green beans?

  • Just a great movie like Goodfellas you can watch it again and again and again

  • co to jest za muzyka _

  • scott joplin "The Entertainer"

  • One of my favourite lines in this film is "sorry I was late guys, I was taking a crap!"

That scene on the train is one of the funniest things I've seen in my life.

  • They dont make movies like this anymore but we dont have actors like Paul Newman

  • Fuckin love this moviee!!!!!

  • Im glad this movie beat the Exorcist

  • Scott Joplin!!!

    like it :P

  • I first saw this movie when I was about 13. It was a school outing paid for by each of the students. At the time, The Entertainer from The Sting was an unusual top 40 entry and the movie made interest from that.

I was too young to fully understand the film in those days, but it did make me wary about swindlers.

As The Sting is a period drama, it's unlikely to ever appear archaic. For those who haven't seen it, it's an excellent DVD to grab from the bargain bin at your local supermarket.

  • brilliant movie, just brilliant!

  • My school had a play of this, it was really good! :)

  • thanks for posting this I adore this film like pretty much anything either of them did

  • wats the song called in the beginning of the trailer??? (in the backround)
