Heavens to Murgatroid! How cool to see a clip from this rarely seen flick! One of my cousins had the soundtrack album from this movie back in the 60's but until now have NEVER been able to see any footage from the film. What a truly unique voice & talent the late grea Waylon had! THANKS for posting! :-)
This part of the movie was filmed in a little town outside of Nashville on highway 12 called scottsboro. The name of the club was called Pat Taylor's I happen to know because I'm from the town right next to it called Ashland City and that man on the right of Waylon thats playing bass is my grandpa. I'm glad to see this video on here I havent seen it in years.

I seen this movie here in my home town back in 67 we had an out door theater called the Bennis drive in would love to find this movie I have always loved Waylon Jennings and he sure is missed
i have always liked walon jennings music and to see his name on credits on a old country looking tape and not to recognize him when he was so young was cool and when i seen this now i seen some of his beginning and when i turn up good tunes he alwayes has my back love his tunes
thats not a mustang or musicmaster ,thats a duo sonic, music master has only one pick up and the mustang has extra switches above the pickups, and a larger chrome bridge
Hi,I just noticed your comment that you have Nashville Rebel on dvd,I have been looking for this movie,Just wondering where you may have came across It.
@snuffyfordsmom I don't recall exactly, but I think it was at amazon.com, but I do recall doing the search for it from the google search engine. Let me check it out and I'll get back to you with the proper info.
He also had that James Dean-like rebellious persona also, the only difference being that Waylon actually was one, whereas James Dean only portrayed one.
@Roddynow he was an Outlaw before the movement started...so was Willie, though..just trying to make their music their way. What a CRAZY concept, huh? cheers
Actually, that more like a Fender Musicmaster--pre Mustang and even more basic. That he's playing country with it is totally rebel. Check out the expression on the guy to the right--verifies Waylon was on the edge of the scene.
Yeah, that Mustang is a great detail. I've been watching these old (pre beard) Waylon posts and discovering what a bad ass performer he was with the Telecaster (singing, playing, and stepping up for the solo), so seeing him with the Mustang is a real treat.
I seen this movie at the drive in with my mom and dad in 1970 a few years after it was made, I think it was made in like 1966, but I was 6 years old and I never forgot this song, but the one that I remember most was green river as it was at the start or was it the end of the movie? I don't know for sure I was only 6 years old, but just to remember that night was a great time, my dad had a dodge monoico convertable and fuck did it fly I watched him out run the rcmp once, great to remember!!!!!!!!
What a voice he is the greatest and I wish he was still alive. RIP Nashville Rebel and you and Johnny Cash are probaly singing and Drinking together with Buddy Holly too.
Make sure you specify the 1966 Movie in your order. I just found out that since his death several DVD versions became available under the same title "Nashville Rebel" which have nothing to do with the original 1966 movie.
Watched all the Nashville Rebell videos you uploaded. They're great. Thanks so much. If you can upload some of Waylon's talking part in the movie, I'd love to watch them.
Rest in peace, Mary Frann.

For a guy on speed he sure liked to sing slow! And he pulled it off better than anyone.
I think I like early Waylon better than the outlaw stuff, totally alternative for the time!

right with all of those old guys it was more about speed hence the ulcers and such. They preferred the drugs sex drugs and country!
