this song is fierce. dance music at its best. maybe even early house music. in the mid 90's this version used to played at STUDIO ONE in HOLLYWOOD,L.A. by DJ LEE. the dance floor would blow up! still sounds good! mmmm
I totally agree that George Kranz is a great musician too. George is still making music, and all his albums are now on iTunes, Amazon etc. If you want to hear more, check his band's (called 3 plus 1) Myspace page out at: (World Wide Web) myspace (dot com) /dreipluseins
1983? these where the golden years of MTV, you could see videos of good music all day and night without getting bored. I was lucky to be a teenager in those days!!!
This song is bad assss, it became the number #1 Hit in the late 80's in Chicago's Old School hits. wbmx 102.7 fm i like Alisha All Night Passion and check out the video for Laid Back-White Horse
My mum had this on a record thingy and used to play it when I was about 5 and I used to cry every time it was on. I found it scary at the time! Good song though!! So random!
I love this song. Never saw the video before. Didn't know a white guy came up w/this song. Never judge a book by it's cover. One of the top club songs IMO. Just makes you want to get up and and dance. Hold on. Let me pause--Had to do the wave for a moment.
Pitbull didnt cop ths song, he just used the beat and people do that all the time. Plus his sounds better....I dont know why but i kinda like ths one 2...surprisingly
I remember watching this as a kid on MTV! Man, I don't think this dude realized that this song would end up being the ultimate dance song! A str8 classic from beginning to end. Funny, that this is the best breakging song, but none of these yahoos in this vid are dancing at all! LOL!
NICE!! I hate that SO MANY people today think beats and songs like this one are new (example: the song "Pitbull" just remade a couple of years ago of THIS SONG). This was WAY before their time!!! New "singers" of today have no idea where the songs came from that they are singing. Most of them are re-makes from the 80s!!!
I remember going to the club back when this first came out and dancing so hard with sweat rolling down my face and the make-up all ran....Music seemed to be on fire then and I'm glad we seem to be in a new wave of music nowadays that is bringing back some of the spirit...These things go in cycles. We have Lady Ga Ga, Hot Chip, MADCON, LCD Soundsystem and others to bring some magic back...It ain't just about "how pretty you are"...Amen.
Kougra55, Midnight is just a flamer. He or she comes here to annoy people and it shows by the crude profile he/she has. I mean who the hell is 71 yrs old, unless he or she is actually some Emo idiot barely in teens?

Hi there Marcojav1971! George Kranz's Din Daa Daa was featured in the Hip Hop film Breakin 2 in 1984. George is very multitalented; he's a drummer, actor, writer, producer etc. Check out his film Magic Sticks (youtube it!). Also, there is a fan demand started for him and his jazz band called 3+1 at Eventful (dot) com Type his name and check for more info including his official website and Myspace page make demands for him to play in your country!!

How cool is this track man. I've been looking for the video for the longest and I agree with the rest, I thought these guys were black, to my surprise they're white! Any ways, this song was played in mid 80's in Mexico City b4 the Electric Boogaloo movie was out. So when the movie finally arrived we all knew it and sang it all the way, even in the subway with all my buddies. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. PS. Up to day I still play this song at home or in my garage when washing the cars.
There is a nice story about that fact that he is white.
As the song came out and find the way to the states, the white stations dosn't play the song, cause they thought he is black, and the black station played it couse they thought he is black. *lol*
There is a nice story about that fact that he is white.
As the song came out and find the way to the states, the white stations dosn't play the song, cause they thought he is black, and the black station played it couse they thought he is black. *lol*
Sound kinda like when Madonna came out with her first single"Holiday". The record company released it without her face on the cover because her was getting alot of spins on urban radio and the DJs thought she was black.
after i saw the video, i finally realized his inspiration for the "odd" lyrics - his drumming. i guess you need to have been a drummer to know that. this does bring back memories...ahhhh, the 80s club scene, how i miss you!
As a black raised in the "hood", it wasn't until I got a little older that I realized a lot of the old school classics we embraced (this song, Moments in Love by Art of Noise, etc) were created by whites. Guess they have more style than we gave them credit for! lol. Gotta respect their contribution to the movement!
I think that music in the 80s had a more universal appeal. I think Blacks and whites listened to alot of the same music back then compared to now. some of the 80s music wasn't considered "white music" by blacks. it was just music that was good.
I agree. It WAS just "good music" then. We really didn't care who did it. I remember when Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive" came out. Nobody where I lived was big on rock music. But once we saw it on MTV, you couldn't resist it. We'd have a block party or a barbecue and somebody would slip that on right after some Run DMC and we'd go CRAZY when that intro came on! lol. Music back then just made you feel good! It was magical and you couldn't deny it.
i agree, too, well written, that mo-town, Cosby-show, universal 80's "feel", I don't know how to describe it..I miss my childhood, things were so much simpler back then..but our haircuts were awful, lol
Maaaan, I own the movies Breakin I & II and I swear every time I watch em and this song comes out, I move the coffee table out the way and I get my break on in the living room! Lol. I'm 29, so I remember this being the theme of EVERY breakdance party back in the early 80's! This song hits me the same as it did way back then!
I remember me and my boys running through the halls at Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago...freshman year 1983 mouthing this tune...LONG LIVE CHICAGO HOUSE MUSIC - JACK UR BODY, BABY!
First, noone realized this was a white man singing for a long time. When people ask what is he singing, or why doesnt he make sense, the answer is simple. When real singers warm up, they dont sing words, they just mimic the music to warm up their vocal chords, ex. lah di dah. This song is just George Kranz having fun mimicking the track using din daa daa and some rolling r's with enthusiasm. A group that does this is the Swingle Sisters. They "sing" songs but not really, they just make sounds.
You should hear his other stuff, it is just so mad he is a genius. I don't think that he makes those nioses to warm up, he is just drum obsessed. He collects them and writes songs about being in love with them.
Love this song and always have. An awsome track.

Yes there is. Search on "Din daa daa" here at YouTube - the length is above 6 minutes.

The famous strange song of that German singer George Kranz. A big hit of 1984 of the dance floor in Canada...still it's improvisation.
