The recording I have is music only that I used to sing on top of in my shows. I am working on an album that will be available on my website in the future. It's a very nice song; your pure tones carry it well.

But you're whomping the heck out of that mic. Lots of distortion there. I realize it's probably not a studio-quality mic, but you should be able to get a decent recording out of it, no? A little more distance, perhaps? Or decrease the db sensitivity setting?

I've been trying to improve my own audio production and editing capability, learning the intracacies of SoundForge 8, futzing with mic placement and pop filters, etc. So I've been getting in some practice listening to distortion.

On a studio mic, with a powerful voice like yours, mic sensitivity is usually stepped downward (look for mic switch positions for reducing db) to prevent distortion. Of course you don't want it too faint, either. It's a tricky business, audio recording.
