Remote weapons are overrated actually, they always get shot down, even a NewBtype like Gyunei took out 2 of Nu's Fin Funnels.

When an MS's remote weapons are all taken down, the MS's combat potential dramatically decreases, Providence is an obvious example, it's stated that w/o it's DRAGOONs it's just a GuAIZ w/ phase shift.

Actually Amuro were controlling the Fin Funnels, he was just surprised on how much more sensitive the psyco-frame is with his mental commands than a normal psycommu.

Gyunei actually shot down 2 funnels when Amuro got a hang of the psyco-frame, but he was still defeated.

Furthermore, DRAGOONs use plasma technology. And Minovksy based beams rendered plasma useless

Do you KNOW WHY when in battle the UC forces RELAY ON FLARES OR LIGHTS for communications?

The reason being, like many others have said, is because Minovsky Particles JAM WIRELESS (RADIO) FREQUENCIES!

The only time radios work in UC is when Minovsky Particles are not at Combat, hell, at any densities in the area. Also Minovsky particles work like EMP, any thing electrical thats unshielded doesnt work.

Random fact, this is actually the Heavy Weapon System (HWS) version of the Nu Gundam, It's an optional frame that gives increased armor and a new bazooka and beam gun. You get it by having Amuro reach 50 kills by the time you leave earth for the Gaogaigar storyline. To get the Hi-Nu Gundam Amuro and Bright need 150 combined kills by the time you leave earth the last time, and if Camille has 50 kills you get the Sazabi as well.

In some games like Super Robot Wars R you actually can use the Shoot-down ability to counter funnels with funnels. Makes the early Gundam route a pain simply because Nu Gundam's fin funnels are usually countered by the Jagd Dogas/Alpha Azieru/Sazabi.

as far as i know fin funnel is used for more tactical way as you could see in the this video (well if you watched the anime then he also use the same tactic i think anyway against char) it can also be used to generate shield. Unlike the dragoon system. I think Fin funnel is much better since its practically the same as dragoon system but fin funnel has a additional side general on the thing itself.

The only real difference is aesthetic design: Fin Funnels are fork-shaped beam-spitters, DRAGOONs are rather more pointy looking. As I've seen, DRAGOONs have the exact same abilities that Fin Funnels do, so really it all comes down to which one you think looks "cooler".
