This kid may seem like an idiot, but it was understandable. At the time, the tight end was Chris Baker. The previous year he had a very strong, promising year with over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. They were picking sixth overall, so they had so many needs at that point. To lose draft picks in a trade and then fix something that wasn't broken just didn't make sense at that time.

Now it has worked out. Keller isn't a stud by any means yet. Right now he's their 3rd/4th option.

Dustin is a great player. I might only be 13 (and a girl), but I went to a lot of the home games, and saw him on TV. Since my brother knows him (college), we've been fans for years. The last two 1st round TEs drafted by Jets were Anthony Becht in 00 and Kyle Brady in 95, both busts. At the 95 draft, Jets fans yelled for Warren Sapp when Brady was selected. Then in 05, Jets traded 1st round pick to Raiders for TE Doug Jolley, essentially another bust pick on TE. Also, Jets already had Baker and Franks(both receiving TEs) when Keller was picked. The team needed a blocking TE, WR or CB instead. I think Keller could be the real deal, but given the history, I have my doubts.

Keller was in my conference when he was in highschool, and seeing him go from high school to college, gaining almost 50 pounds of muscle, high jumping 7' (state champ) and then dominating at Purdue... it is just pathetic to see the jets boo their picks every year.
