What is much worse than showing those coffins is NOT showing the coffins. They should have been shown from the beginning of this god-awful fiasco. The coffins should have been opened to reveal the faces and the blown-up bodies of real soldiers... not just the numbers of the 4000+ who left this earth for the ambitions of our "war president" and his cohorts. Shame on them all!
I don't see any problem using coffins to illustrate what Bush, did, however Clinton/Pelosi and their ilk are not a bit better. Why can't people be held accountable for the results of their actions? I guess some topics are taboo.
I am sorry, you had my attention at first but when you use politicians as part of change you lost me. Politicians are what fucked us. Especially George Bush. There will come a day when anyone who is a politician will be on the run.

I like the images of dead American soldiers. Excellent. 9/11 wasn't that bad was it. Really nothing compared with what you did to Iraq. Your tears don't fool me.
Perhaps they were trying to say that the flag-drapped coffins were the result of a misguided war led by the commander-in-chief. Democrats and Republicans, as well as the other party affiliates, respect and honor our soldiers.
The DCC uses dead soldiers to raise money? The NEO-Cons and Republicans has raised money by fear of 9-11 and using pictures of those terrorist attacks so before you attack dems, get the facts straight. of course, you probably wont see that on Hitler...I mean Fox News.
Entirely inapropriate to point out the horrid failures of the opposition party to get elected. We should ignore those failures and keep the debate to important things like John Edwards haircuts and John Kerrys windsurfing.
All those american troops died for nothing, what a waste of life so bush could control mid east oil. I feel sorry for the troops parents sons died for a pack of lies.We are gonna pull out anyway so it was a waste of time
What was wrong with Clinton (except NAFTA and GAT)? He partied hearty and the stuff you never knew about never happened. Takes a Republican to fuck things up like 9/11 and Iraq. I think froochie123 whiffs Bush butt like it was cocaine.
Well I understand it enough to know it's a Yankee Doodle and not a Wanky Doodle. Also, I know that American is a proper noun and should be capitalized. Now I ask, is it typical that your countryman are just plain rude because they're botched attempt at wit and sarcasm falls flat when it doesnt translate to text well because you've done nothing to set it up properly?
Disgusting is right. Over 3000 US soliders killed in Iraq; multibillions spent on destroying a country that we will have to spend multibillions more fixing; 600,000 Iraqi civilians killed. Bush and the Republicons wanted a war so they lied about WMDs and how Iraq is vital to the so-called war on terror. Disgusting Republicans. I know how I'm voting.
Dude, stop getting your info from Faux news. George Soros is just the only guy republicans can find to support their orwellian doublespeak claim that the left is 'elitist'.
This ad points out these faults with the GOP admin and congress. It is not disrespectful to the soldiers who have died in Iraq, what is is the GOP sending them to their graves in the first place.
It is a true shame that the Dems have pulled this ad. It was them showing, for the first time, that they have balls. Now they have gone back to the Dems that we know and don't love - weak.
The Democrats need to assert themselves with ads like this. If they don't, I see another 2 years of GOP domination.
This ad is the first time that they have gotten the balls to remind the American people what got them into this mess in the first place. The Bush administration and GOP congress have sent America into a war on false pretext - leading to the deaths of thousands of soldiers. They have introduced economic policies which reward the rich, and attack the poor, and have in turn transformed the massive surplus into a massive deficit.
This ad is fantastic. It really is a brilliant piece of cinematic work, and is the kind of thing that political campaigns should employ more often.
It really is a shame that the Democrats have since pulled this ad. They seem to have some view that they can beat the Republican smear campaigns and attack politics without resorting to it themselves. Wrong!!
Great ad! Let's all hope that some resemblance of the dignified and respected United States we once all knew can be brought back after these corporate-loving, war-profiteering fascists are gone.
I am a veteran of Desert Storm. We have been mislead into sending our precious sons and daughters to be sacrificed on the altar of this misadventure. The government will not allow photographs to be taken of our fallen youth returning home, yet photo ops abound showing the Pres. with live soldiers, and photos of coffins of the 9/11 deaths were in several GOP ads. Where was the GOP outcry then?
Great ad. Starts off on a downer. Casualties, soaring gas prices, global warming, Bush, Cheny, Rove, and then ending on a hopeful note with the words of Clinton. Very fine transition work. As for being 'disgusting', maybe it is, but only to the Republicans that are scared of having their failures exposed.
The only thing I don't like about it is that high gas prices are not exactly the Republicans fault. Other than that I think they hit it right on the head!
More people should see and like to this. I'm amazed that Democrats lack the backbone to distribute this, and that Republicans have such a visceral disdain fo the truth.
How they can be outraged when Bush ran an ad in 04 showing a flag draped body being removed from WTC is beyond belief. Even more pathetic is that a Republican is running an ad showing WTC smoking.
Just because a few people complain about something, they pull it. I see nothing wrong with the ad. How the hell are we 'using dead soldiers,' pray tell?
Truth can be brutal, and truth is exactly what that ad is. Notice how the Republicans scatter like scared mice at the notion of having to face the truth?
The ad may have been pulled, but it's by no means gone.
It's posted to my blog/board and I invite everyone to do the same. After all, that's the reason the DCCC put the ad out in the first place.
The ad was likely pulled from the democratic site because republicans have once again succeeded in diverting attention from the consequences of their policies and focused attention on divisive knee jerk reactions. The coffins were a small, but relevant, part of that message that have received undue attention. And the idea that the case number on Tom Delay's mug shot as a reference to terrorism shows what raving lunatics republicans are
The ad was pulled because Democrats cut-and-ran at the first sign of opposition. As a Democrat, I am sick and tired of Democrats who do not understand the Bush Menace and refuse to oppose it. This ad is mild compared to what needs to be said about the Republicans.
The flag draped coffins are insensitive, NOT THE PICTURES.
The american people must see the damage the republican party has done. The blood of these soldiers is on this administration's and this warmongering party's hands.
Republicans are so blind, they think that Iraqis run ahead of our troops throwing roses at their feet.
Well, I have one question: If the Iraqis have 70% unemployment, electical power less than 4 hours per day on the average, water and food shortages, and are constantly in fear of being blown up, where the Hell do you think they're going to get roses?
Hypocritical Republicans support a man who said he had better things to do than go to Vietnam and a ommon drunk until age 40. Then they attack decorated veterans like Max Cleland who lost three limbs in Vietnam, John Kerry, John Murtha, and John McCain. Remember the purple heart band-aids at the Repugnant convention? If you support Bush and claim to support the troops you are a lying bastard and you will burn in Hell.
How awful! It's just like when the Republicans used photos of Bush standing on the charred remains of thousands who died in the twin towers to raise money for their campaigns. No wait, it isn't like that...because this is NOT a fundraising ad. Morons. If you don't like seeing flag draped coffins, DON'T SEND PEOPLE TO FIGHT IN AN UNJUST WAR!
This is a great ad. It is quite effective. I know this because Repugnants are screaming with outrage! Thank God the Democrats are finally standing up for our country and against Greedy Obtuse Pricks.
Frankly, I wish the Democrats would use this ad on television starting in October. Right now 2 out of 3 people want the Dems to control Congress because of the disaster this Congress and Administration has been. Democrats need 6 Senate seats and 15 House seats. Then we can start to clean up the mess this Administration has created and the Republican Congress has rubber stamped.
Americans need to see images of soldiers coming home in coffins. Hiding them is what's disrespectful and keeps people anesthetized to the costs of war.
Bush used 9/11 images. The soldiers coming home in boxes are because of his war of choice. Those two things are very different.
Bush had been in office for 5 years. It's time to stop blaming Clinton or anyone else. Every problem we have right now was brought about by Bush's failed policies. Not Clinton and not the Democrats.
Bdworth, the economy is not thriving. Every American man, woman and child is in debt to our government by over $30000. If China or Saudi Arabia called in our debt, they would bankrupt America. Americans are more in debt than ever and 70% do not have a savings account.
Clinton CREATED the good economy when he was in office and left a surplus in federal government. The federal government shrunk by 30% while he was in office and has grown by over 60% since Bush has been in office.
Under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights.
Saying that the Washington Republicans sold America out is an awfully strong comment to make, when it is the liberal press and the democrats that are actually doing it!!!! Showing the coffins on the video proves that the democrats are desperate for new ideas on how to attack George Bush. In showing those coffins the democrats are in a way "celebrating" the lives lost in Iraq....I THINK THAT IS SICK!!!!
