some parts of aberdeen can be bad, but most people think that hearing someone talk from peterhead or out in the country, that we all talk the same, we dont.
the worst accent ive heard comes from great yarmouth,
Personally, I think that the Northern Irish accent is the hardest to understand - From the UK at least. It's basically the English, Scottish and Irish accents butchered. Hideously. xD
Yeah the Scottish accent has got to be the most difficult English accent in all of UK to understand. Fascinating though! Very interesting. I wonder if others from the rest of UK have a difficult time understanding the Scot accent?
My kids are being raised in Suffolk so they're in the East and I'm from Manchester so North and my husband has more of an Oxbridge accent. So the kids are trilingual they say bath to me, baaaath to dad and understand the strange Suffolk sayings that elude me! Fascinating subject. Cheers, Lesley
My family come from Newcastle area originally..tat is so hard to understand when you go to a working man's club there. I did a show at the Tron theatre in Glasgow and the local accent was not too bad to understand until you went for a night out and had afew beers and it really was another language (no disrespect intended :)
I did hear, quite clearly, "sheep shaggin bastards" which I just loved. lol. In all honesty, I understood most quite well.

To me, Doric is like drawing your fingers across a blackboard - it makes my flesh crawl. Without a doubt the best accent is Barnsley.

There's at least 3 or 4 noticable Scottish accents. Just like there's about at least 8 noticable English ones.
So good luck trying to understand them and tell the different between them all and their individual dialects haha!

LOL. It's hard to believe that there are so many different accents in such a small country isn't it?
TamHickey67 4 years ago
It's amazing how the way you talk can be so divisive too. From the same area you'll either be a towny or a country bumkin or posh! L
