    thank you.

  • @dmow9280

Go out to the local public reefs off of Sanibel with some live bait and chum off of the reef. You can do reel great.

    from , singapore .

  • vergaaaaaaaa de monoo!!!!!!!!

  • wow nice fish

  • AWESOME VIDEO im gonna try the golliath challenge some day

  • you should really take the fight a bit slower too, its dangerous both for you and the fish when it comes to the boat without being tired, you know the reel have a brake right?use it! ;)

  • seriosly man, if you have a random guy holding the rod on the middle, the presure is misplaced and the rod obviosly breaks! just use the rod as its supposed to be used;) great fish though.

  • wow this is sweet wish i could catch one of these things

  • u have any tips on catching sharks?

  • Use a lot of chum with oily bloody bait.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • why dont you use harnesses instead of endangering your manhood. 600 POUND GROUPER CAN do some damage, I fish alot and didnt know you dont set circle hooks was never told thanks for the tip

  • A harness will not allow you to use all of your body weight against these massive beasts. Without your body weight it is just not possible to land these fish.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • do u catch ur bait with a hook or a cast net

  • he uses a cast net for most, but goliath he catches sting rays with hookers.

  • also jacks.

  • I've never saltwater fished before but why don't you guys play the fish out?Sewms like the rod breakage is almost "Staged" instead of wearing them down, they are reeled in in no time.Neat to watch those whoppers though, thanks for posting for all of us "inlanders"

  • Thank you for watching. When you fish for Goliath Grouper you have to stop then before they swim back into the structure. If you don't they just break you off over and over again. This is pretty much the only way to stop them.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • You really shouldn't call people names expecially when they are using circle hooks. You never set the hook with a circle hook.

  • haha.... some people dont know anything

  • circle hook dumb ass. never set a circle hook just j hooks

  • nice cetch dod

    emall me dod.

  • would be nice to see more of the so called monsters.... all that fishing and not much fish footage.

    interesting to watch though.

    -Ash

  • its not fake its a goliath grouper. and they are fighting him free hand without a fighting chair. do the math 500 pound fish vs. 200 pound man, its difficult to land one but it is done all the time. its not fake

  • "man-eating sharks"? what do you guys use for bait? Cuban refugees?

  • your wrong.

  • dang, the fish is strong! brakes the robs all the time

  • he were are you guys fishing

  • Boca Grande, FL

  • you cant take the fish home? are they endangered or something?

  • They are a protected species from harvest.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • wat kind of bait did u used?tnks

  • Jacks

  • Captain Ben,

What depths do you typically get the goliath Groupers at?

  • 15-20 feet

  • Wow I had no idea they were that shallow, I always thought they were on the reefs just offshore a little bit. I do a lot of Landbased Sharking down at my house in miami, we usually do really well. You should consider doing a show like that. Its awesome seeing a 8 or 9 foot hammerhead or lemon shark on the beach. You could probably hook up a goliath grouper from the beach as well if they ar eonly in 15 or 20 feet of water. Thanks for producing an awesome show, i watch all the time.

    Blake

  • capt. you should do a show on the st. lawrence

  • You are probably right.

  • fa caare

  • hI,

I want to thank you so so much. I used your techniques I watched on your show and I hooked the goliath of my nightmares/dreams. I would never have used such a big hook or a steel leader with braided line and a 7.0 shark hook with out you. I also would never have thought to use such a big bait but it all worked. I also hooked another goliath buy filleting a fish and hooking carcass.

    thanks

  • Glad to help Jackie.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • did the pole break when they set the hook

  • hey capt. u should do a show up north off the coast off hampton beach in hew hampshire...recently there has been so monsters reeled in

  • Maybe one day. Thanks for the advice.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • whow how is it possible to get a fish on the hook that fast? Do they search the fish?

  • Once you know where they are the bite is pretty consistent.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • oh okay :D how deep does the bait actually go? Excuse me for all those questions but I have never seen such big fish here :D

  • About 20 feet total.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • mucho pez o tiburon para gente que ni si quiera monta bien una caña :D aver si aprenden lo q es el kokle :D q tienen q sakar to a pulso con el kokle lo enganxany yata :D

  • wow capt this is in NC right i live near wilmington but i want to do this so bad to catch huge fish like this.

  • Finn we are in SW Florida. Wilmington Grill is one of the proud advertisers of Chew On This. Thanks for watching.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Mannn.. I usually go out for grouper about 80 miles off-shore Ft. Myers... Never landed a goliath. We see the huge ones on the fish-finder all the time but they don't hit the bandits... great footage though.

  • you gulf or ocean side, i have a house in naples and we land them about 2-5 miles out on all the wrecks close in

  • Ft. Myers is west coast... out in the Gulf. Yeah we don't go out for goliaths... American reds, Red Grouper, Gags, and in June/July trolling for dolphin. It's a good time but maybe next time we can make a stop at a wreck. =)

  • how long does it take to actually catch one.

  • We usually land them in 1 to 5 minutes.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Thats a beast of a fish gj again Capt!!!!

  • What would be the least amount of drag you could use to get them out of their home? Ive been using a penn reel with 25 pounds of drag over at sanibel , and trying to thumb the spool lol but that just aint cutting it, and the avets are pretty pricey especially the 100 pound

  • I reeled in a cpl sharks that were only a fraction of the size of these monsters and I was sore for two days and not to mention the bruises. This would be a rush to say the least.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • captain chancey,

i am a sw florida angler. im not sure if you remember but i have the bright orange shearwater. we are looking for a jewfish setup. i know you use the avet reels, do you recommend anything a little cheaper?

  • How deep should you poke their bladder so they don't float?

  • The fish we catch don't float because we only catch them in 20 to 25 feet of water.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • So what you're saying is that your whole spool is leader material?

p.s. Does it matter if the tide is in-coming or out-going in Florida? I only ask because up North we catch most of our blues n stripers on outgoing tides. (Mostly)

  • I've sent this video to sooooo many people!

    WHATCHOOOGOT?

  • Can u get grouper all year round in Fla?

  • For the most part.

  • Watching your videos always makes me want to get off YouTube and fish ;)

  • LOL I am accomoplishing a mission.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Take me with you! I LOVE fishing!

  • awsome man the bigger the better

  • "On Your Back Charters"

  • Shouldn't use the shoulder to hold the rod, that's why the rod was snapped. Anyway, the video is great. Enjoy fishing!

  • You are exactly right. However, if he wasn't using his shoulder the rod would have bent over the gunnel and snapped there as well. It is just a very tough style of fishing.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • that pole just snapped

  • yeeehaaa!! reel reel reel!!

  • sweet mamma

  • that is really too bad you were not able to bring that fish in the boat, which reminds me it is now september and i have to renew my fishing license. keep' em coming!!!!

  • Thanks Captain Scotland waits for more.

Maybe it's just as well I do not live over there, I would never get any work done. Just fishing. :-)

  • Waiting for more!

  • OMG, its like lifting weights at the gym! Only much worse and with peril.

  • awesome you are the best i hope that one day i can come out and fish with you but i got school to worry about so one day ill be there =]

  • Josh thanks for the great comments. In the first segment after the 1st commercial break I go over line(Suffix 500 pound leader), hook(Eagle Claw), Reel(Avet), Rod(Lamiglas)I hope this is some of the info you were looking for.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • GOd Bless you and your wife Captain Chancey. You have the besdt videos on the 'Tube. It would be awsome if you had a clip at the start of the video showing the types of rigs that are going to be used for the show. Some people including me don't know much about the rigs and knots used. 5/5
