i got the update and paid the twenty dollars and now you can have 144 apps on it with nine different pages and get lyrics to the songs so i think it was worth it
i've had my ipod jailbreaked for like two months now and nothing is wrong with it. and the better apps are like ttr(tap tap revolution) gameboy advance, playstation emulator, and lots of cool games instead of just weather, stocks, mail, notebook and w/e the last one is
Hey man can u message me on how to download this 20.00 $ upgrade, because its not letting me upgrade it like it has no area to upgrade it only says you need an itunes account, which i have, itunes 7 which i have and and ipod touch wihich i have so can u please help me
personally, I don't like the grey for the botton functions/applications. Never liked that of the hoe screen. I like it with the darker shade that was smaller and took up half of the butons. Besides, I'm not paying $20
Who the fuck would be dumb enough to pay $20 to upgrade to 1.1.3 to have 15 apps when you could just jailbreak your 1.1.2 for FREE and have 50 apps?!??? Wow people are dumb... apple SELLS you (NOTICE; ITS NOT GIVES YOU)
a few new shiny apps so u can lose any great app u already had for free jailbroken.
i agree.. i don't need stock information. Google maps. ( what the point of having only where there is wifi. if your lost on the freeway theres no wifi there. duh)
you could re-arrange the icons for free if you jailbreak it.
and its just way more fun if you jailbreak it!
don't buy it people, just take 10 minutes of your time and jailbreak it for free!
I agree. I like my dock to look subtle instead of huge and gray. I jailbroke my 1.1.1 and put the iPhone apps on it only to remove all of them excpet mail and weather.
I'm still hoping for a definitive answer about what you will get if you flash 1.1.3 to a pre-january ipod. If I'm going to get ugly dock and my iphone apps taken away.. What reason do I have to give this a try
The iPhone version of mail mos def writes emails. I'd like to say the 1.1.3 ipod touch version would too but I've been surprised by assumptions before.
i agree this is stupid charging $20 for sumthing that comes free with new ipods from now on. i would jailbreak mine but i dont really want to void the warranty
There are known methods for doing a "clean slate" downgrade/firmware update so there isn't much to lose except time. I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you're as excited about secure shell as you are having the applications on the phone though.
The only good thing about this update is the 'wiggle feature' that lets you move icons around without going into an SSH program. But still, after buying a $400 iPod, I would think that Apple wouldn't charge me $20 for this crap.
you got ripped off dude. instead of wasteing 20 bucks on bullshit. you should of kept 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and jailbreak it. if you jailbreak it you can get iphone apps and much more and its free.
i can't understand why i have to pay $20 bucks for some apps already used in iphone. iphone upgrade is 4 free, even apple tv major upgrade is 100% free.
I know what you mean, but keep this in mind: New ipod touches have the 5 apps for free and i can't see way i have to pay $20 for that "upgrade".
By the way, the price for upgrading tiger to leopard was around $10. On the other hand, i dont want jailbreak my ipod touch. So, I just have to wait for the sdk, hopefully without a cost.
I really don't know why people would want to hack their ipod touch, apple is releasing the sdk in late Feb, much more awesome apps would be written then. and with the hack, u can't even update to the new firmware without going through bullshit load of trouble, plus there's a risk of breaking the touch, and it's not even cool.
it's not like u have written the hack urself, ur just following someone else's instructions like a fuucking nerd. Some apps u can install after the hack is quite neat but most are just fuucked up and useless.

jailbreaking your ipod cannot brick forever, you just need to restore it through itunes

whats the fun of restoring over and over if your constanly bricked

It wont void your warranty. All you have to do is restore it and Apple will never know that it was jailbroken in the past!

I'm pretty sure that every firmware that apple has released has had a published downgrade exploit. So all there is to risk is having to restore
