personally, I don't like the grey for the botton functions/applications. Never liked that of the hoe screen. I like it with the darker shade that was smaller and took up half of the butons. Besides, I'm not paying $20

I agree. I like my dock to look subtle instead of huge and gray. I jailbroke my 1.1.1 and put the iPhone apps on it only to remove all of them excpet mail and weather.

I'm still hoping for a definitive answer about what you will get if you flash 1.1.3 to a pre-january ipod. If I'm going to get ugly dock and my iphone apps taken away.. What reason do I have to give this a try

The iPhone version of mail mos def writes emails. I'd like to say the 1.1.3 ipod touch version would too but I've been surprised by assumptions before.

There are known methods for doing a "clean slate" downgrade/firmware update so there isn't much to lose except time. I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you're as excited about secure shell as you are having the applications on the phone though.

It wont void your warranty. All you have to do is restore it and Apple will never know that it was jailbroken in the past!

The only good thing about this update is the 'wiggle feature' that lets you move icons around without going into an SSH program. But still, after buying a $400 iPod, I would think that Apple wouldn't charge me $20 for this crap.

I know what you mean, but keep this in mind: New ipod touches have the 5 apps for free and i can't see way i have to pay $20 for that "upgrade".

By the way, the price for upgrading tiger to leopard was around $10. On the other hand, i dont want jailbreak my ipod touch. So, I just have to wait for the sdk, hopefully without a cost.

I really don't know why people would want to hack their ipod touch, apple is releasing the sdk in late Feb, much more awesome apps would be written then. and with the hack, u can't even update to the new firmware without going through bullshit load of trouble, plus there's a risk of breaking the touch, and it's not even cool.
