i spent almost 5grand at christmas....and i did so because i can. I would call this a Mockumentary more than anything.......but it was very entertaining. My friends and I were laughing so hard at the credit card exorcism......good stuff lol
on the other hand someone just got trampled today entering a store to get a jump on holiday shopping ( friday after thanksgiving) how can this tragedy be supportable...what kind of mindset are you interested in cultivating? the format/ messenger may be not be palatable to you or suit your taste...but the message is definitely worth a consideration.
Actually I did. I torrented the moment it was released - I wouldn't pay one cent for it because the message is completely hypocritical. Of course they are performers, did you actually think otherwise? They are ACTORS and their message is hypocritical, period, regardless of who they are. STOP SPENDING YOUR MONEY-AH on THIS-ah and THAT-ah and INSTEAD-ah, buy my video-ah! HALLELUJAH, PRAISE BE TO JEBUS!
@notabook they are against buying products that are cheaply made in china or other countries, or spending ridiculous amounts of money on frivolous things. they are not against buying locally and supporting real and decent people
@pocketsnatcher Ah, so they want you to save your money by discouraging you from buying frivolous things so that you'll have money to spend on their frivolous movie? PRAISE BY TO JEBUS!!! WE HAVE BEEN DELIVERED FROM CAPITALISM BY REV. BILLY!!! MAKE MORE MOVIES FOR US TO BUY!!!!
btw, those Chinese workers that make 90% of the goods out there are decent people too, many of which would starve to death without us buying those "frivolous goods" that Rev. Billy is "preaching against".
@notabook well, you don't have to buy their movie. its free to watch on google. i wouldn't call a documentary frivolous, but thats just me.
the chinese workers are probably already half starving to death considering the wages they get- not minimum wages. its because the companies are so large that they pay them so little. theres a lot of work people will have to do to change conditions for those workers, but by supporting the large companies it just continues the cycle.
@pocketsnatcher And I wouldn't call this movie a documentary, period. The money that they get paid helps to sustain them and their families. If you are advocating changing the way businesses work, that's fine and dandy, but that cycle will continue until the people of China demand higher wages and better living conditions - neither of are likely given the state that China is currently in. In 40 or so years they will be virtually the same as America is today - just give them time.
Who TF cares? Do you think the established churches are communicating Christ's message? This dude is telling us that Christmas (the established fictional birthdate of Jesus) is NOT about SHOPPING. This is not revolutionary; this is common sense. People used to MAKE presents for each other yet now they fight each other at checkout stands to buy Sony X-Boxes. Unbelievably, it takes a B-movie star to alert us to this situation, rather than a church. Go figure.
So spend your money and go see his movie.... make sure he gets your money and not wal-mart and when you walk away from the movie you are going to feel like a jackass for seeing it and to feel batter you will go to wal-mart and buy stuff. jackass
Or, just maybe, skip the trip to wal-mart and visit your public library, where you can borrow the movie for free ... and pick up a few books while you're at it.
Hope everyone gets the chance to see this. One of the funniest (and most important) films I've ever seen. Reverend Billy's a crusader with a message that matters. And the dude's got a flair for the hilarious.
Amen, Reverend Billy!!!

So.. a video that preaches against people using their money unwisely.. gets people to use their money unwisely. Yep. Typical christian hypocrisy.

because you (notabook) didn't see the movie, you don'y know what you're talking about.
The "Reverend" and "Church" are actually performers making a social statement that has nothing to do with Christianity
