Just look at the acceleration after 95 km/h.If you know how to "push it",you can make some serious overtakes even with an old 90 HP Diesel.

They are not for straigh line racing,but at a long road,a 90 HP Diesel(that was the power of the standard 1.9) a diesel is undoubtable beating a (same power) petrol engine.

You guys are all a bunch of nibwits! the guy messed up in the video, a hundred times over. For starters, he ruined first gear and stayed in it to long. Secondly, he was over revving every gear he went into, again taking to long to shift.

So instead of 12 seconds, this car would have done it in under 9 seconds. + a remap = around 7 seconds.

my 92' honda (1.5i 90hp) does better.

everybody says "turbodiesel has so much power" but it has much torque not much power. take a tdi with 140 hp and race against a car with 2.0 (gas) 140 hp. they are even! or almost even. depends on driver. and weight. the tdi doesnt care that much about weight but the gas car does cuz it hasnt that much torque.

no, its not the power. diesel engines make more torque then same displacement gasoline engines. it has to do with gear ratio.

The reason the one car can reach 260 is because the ratio of 5th gear allows the vehicle to reach that speed when the engine reaches its maximum speed. That cars 5th gear ratio is around 0.681:1. The closer to 1:1 the slower the vehicle's speed will be.

I have a mk4 90hp (stock) that used to do 220. Theres a mod to change your 5 gear and then you can do 260 :)

I don't understand why some Golf 4 TDI witho 100 100 HP have max speed 220 and some of them have 260....i just dont know that much about cars but i wanna find out.

because the other car that can reach 260 have more horse power, or its a gasoline car, gasoline cars can reach more high velocity than a diesel car (of the same power)
