  • "Oh, I doubt that anyone will say I'm a great writer."

Couldn't have possibly been more wrong.

  • @breakfastisgo It's really astonishing that such a brilliant man could be so humble.

  • Too bad they didn't have a robot interview him; it would have been a lot better.

  • Thanx for this amazing video ( series of videos to be correct ). He was an amazing, unique and a "looking ahead" writer ( and scientist ). His death was a big loss for the sci-fi community and the biology progress.

  • I just finished Foundation and Earth and I am still amazed. Isaac is a genoius.

  • @1Arky1 In Greece the "Foundation" series are called "Galactic Empire" ( 1 to 6 ), for reasons that only the greek publishers know. Anyway I always had the curiosity to see what will happen after they have found R. Oliwaw, but Asimov never continued the series.

The amazing thing with this story is that Asimov is beginning with a lot of "pre-sequels" ( like "Caves of steel", "The naked sun", etc ) and he is creating an enormous puzzle of a continues plot that ends surprisingly apocalyptic!

  • You've gotta love Asimov's mutton-chops.

  • 1938? I thought his first story was published in 1939.

  • asimov was way too humble....perhaps that was his only weakness

  • Thank you so much for this, I think we all here miss Asimov fortunately we have enough to read.

  • thanks for this

  • write about robots, use typewriter

    .. lol

  • Asimov's voice never sounds like you imagine it to. You just don't imagine him having a Brooklyn accent. Still, he was awesome, and forever will be.

  • goddammit, that host is really annoying with his "witty" interruptions. when you bring a man like Asimov in your studio, shut up and let him speak !!!

  • @Omatunto Yea charlie rose sucks so bad.

  • Hahahah Isaac tiene el acento mas simpático de la historia.

  • Asimov is God !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, you should get a medal for uploading this. ;)

  • he predicts the internet within 3 minutes!

  • @daddysevenpointfiver well the internet already existed when this interview was made

  • A great man and a great writer. Although many of todays SF critics tend to dismiss him as someone who never progressed beyond the style of the "golden age of science fiction writing", I always found him to be an entertaining author and a witty observer. I wish that I had an opportunity to meet him personally. Thanks for the post....

  • @cqsteve1 Man is legend:)

  • Robots DO have a hell of a lot of jobs in Japan humans could have.

  • @zackgreer and in fact robots should do the production of all goods so humans could focus on discovery, arts and just having fun instead of spending 30% of their entire life just making a living mostly in jobs they hate

  • love Asimov's accent

  • wksufreshair, thank you so much for posting these Asimov interviews. It is people like yourself who keep the memories of great writers alive.

  • Charlie Rose says 15 yrs, and I still haven't seen any robots running Japan.

  • What a great man. Is anyone going to beat his prolific out?

  • Thank you so much for posting the Asimov videos. Inspiring man and a great speaker.

  • Thanks for posting!
