It is wobbling now I can see the face change constantly now.I don't know about all that nibiru stuff but the moon is having some problems is this normal?I wasn't taught this in school they said it stays still facing us?
@korzon Nope, it rotates about once every month, which is about the same time it takes the moon to go around the Earth. Try it with two balls. One as the moon, draw a dot on one side and fly it around the other ball without rotating the ball with the dot. The ball with the dot will show all of its surface to the other ball. Now do it by pointing the dot at the other ball as it goes around. You will require to rotate it which is just what the moon does.
Uh, no. The Moon does not "wobble". That description is unfortunate. It sort of APPEARS to wobble over time, but it's not actually wobbling like that.
@blartoon Of course the Moon is actually wobbling exactly like in this video. It has only been speeded up. You can see how it is hanging in the Earth's gravity field, trying to get loose!
@angloengland I think this speeded-up animation is very interesting, It really looks like the Moon is chained to the Earth through gravity, and cannot get anywhere. But it is sure trying to break the leash!
@BjornPalmen slowly it is, eventually the moon will break away and the earth will be thrown into a new unstable rotation because just as the earth keeps the moon locked, the moon regulates the earths rotation and axis tilt
Actually, it moves about an inch away from Earth every year. But no worries, the sun is supposed to burn out before we lose it completely causing our tidal patterns go haywire. :)
yeah? I thought it was the other way around, that the moon was constantly "falling" to Earth and that given enough time they would eventually collide.
Living on the moon would be a good step toward living on mars. As we already know, biodomes aren't our strength. Any progress is good progress. It's difficult to build a biodome which would simultaneously allow sufficient light to enter, and contain an adequate air pressure level. Imagine a spacestation made of glass. Glass is like a liquid, and if you watched it with time speed up it's form would literally splash.
One problem bud. Gravity. We already know the moon's dirt is pretty firtle, but I don't know how we'd (besides plants) live in that low of gravity (long term health effects too)
There is no independent 'centrifugal' force pulling your arms out just their inertia resistance to the 'centripetal' force pulling them inward and upward as you body continually changes direction. ;)
Whether or not we agree that centrifugal force exists, if it did it would NOT be the same as centripetal force. They act in different directions... :D
sorry all u guys have lost me, what is centrifugal force? call me an idiot if u like but i'm only 13 they don't teach us anything about astronamy (which sucks)
It's called libation. It's caused because of the tilted elliptic orbit of the moon. whenn it is higher ('up north') you can see the moon in it's 'wobbling closer' phase. when it is lower ('low in the south') you can see the moon is in it's 'wobbling away' phase. If you live in the southern hemisphere, well, it's the other way round (my case)

It is rather evidence of tether. Gravity binds the Moon to Earth. That's why it looks like it is trying to get away. :)

it shows that we actually can see a small portion of the dark face of the moon.
this video also shows that turns out that even the south and north dark face part of the moon can also be visible from Earth.

So that is why navigation around the Moon is so difficult. The holes in the cheese act like negative mascons. :)

wrong the moon is slowly falling from earth on account of our large bodies of water
papapowderhotmailcom 3 years ago
Why would they go haywire? I would think that they would just stop completely, gradually getting weaker and weaker as the moon gets further away.

HUNDuffman 2 years ago
The term CENRTIFUGAL force appears to
have come about because of a mistaken perception that there is a force that
operates in the opposite direction as the CENTRIPETAL force. But that is a
misconception. The "pull" that is felt by the ball on a string or by the
hammer thrower is the force that has to be applied toward the center, to
keep the ball from flying off tangentially, not radially.
