I have heard bad reviews about this. Playing the first 10-15 mins it is not bad at all. Yes the controllers need changing BUT the game when you get used to the controls is actually good.

@fig9780 I can understand that you didn't like this game, but if you look past the outdated visuals and the dull action sequences you got a really good game. The OST is by far better than your most AAA titles and the story and cinematography are pretty good. The game also got a pretty good atmosphere. All in all I believe most people who looked past the obvious flaws managed to get a pretty good experience with this game. This is actually one of my favorite 360 games.

Heavy Rain is the DULLEST game I ever played, you feel nothing towards the characters and I personally wanted all of them to die in A nuclear explosion. Deadly Premonition has a Great single player story that doesnt rely on super realistic textures and real time lighting effets to create atmosphere, the characters and world that have been created have more atmosphere than heavy rain could ever hope to have and it pulls you in and completely immerses you into the goings on in Greenvale.

@Johnboy6346 LOL. Shows what you know. I play low-res PS3 games, DS games, and PSone classics. One of my favorite games on PS3 is Atelier Rorona, a very anime-style RPG game. Doesn't look like Uncharted, Gears, or anything. Like you said, 90% of 360 games are multi-plats (debateable). By that logic, it's exclusives aren't that interesting. I personally the 360 "exclusives" to be underwhelming. Kinect Adventures (Crap, but it is the most sold game on 360, look it up), Halo Series.

I do not like kinect games...as a graphic design/illustrator i do not want to come home and have to stand up flinging a control pad about the place to relax after a long day(same as the Wii). @Johnboy6346 Atelier Rorona is an extremely easy synthesis game. You have 3 months to synthesize certain items and you do it for 3 years (in the game). The Sequel is a bit more challenging ( i think). I am enjoying FFXIII, so i'm not sure if i'll get the 2nd one just yet. Especially with several exclusive RPGs for PS3 coming out next month (that no one has heard of). Sorry for the arguement yesterday. I got too serious about the whole thing. Your vid was awesome btw.
The way I describe this game to friends (I've come to call it Premmy) is that it is insanely ambitious -- everything it tries to cram into itself, you would need a MUCH bigger budget, staff, time to make it, etc.
So it inevitably fails spectacularly at so many things, but its ambitious charm, unintentional humour, and occasional Engrish somehow outweigh the cons.
Simply put, it's a unique experience, worth experiencing at least once, and for $20, you could do a lot worse.
Gotta say I'd rather spend my time in a flawed game with a bent personality than a gorgeously rendered bore-fest of adolescent steroid-choked wish-fulfilment cliches like Gears of War and straight FPS'. Shit's so played the fuck out!

This game isn't the best in terms of graphics and presentation, but it has a unique story and gameplay that separates itself from brown shooters and other mainstream mundane games. Is it better than Heavy Rain? Not even close, but it is worth checking out if you like games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil or television shows like Twin Peaks and X-files.

Heavy Rain is not comparable to Deadly Premonition are different genres. The two games are awesome, but Deadly Premonition is very awesome, its my first top 3 title. The story is incredible, the character are very charismatic and the game in general are fucking awesome. The graphics are only for those who can not appreciate a good game for other aspects.

This is one of the worst games I've played in this generation
controls which are abysmal and led to much frustration.
The graphic textures gave me a headaches and migranes
the map, frustrating to use just made it hard to find things.
Repetitive music wholly unsuitable for most situations
and stuttering was the scripting for character animations.
Despite that I loved it and desperately hope to see it back
correcting of course all those bits that made it lack.

This game isn't the best in terms of graphics and presentation, but it has a unique story and gameplay that separates itself from brown shooters and other mainstream mundane games. Is it better than Heavy Rain? Not even close, but it is worth checking out if you like games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil or television shows like Twin Peaks and X-files.

Do you actually have anything to say about the game-play or content? You haven't said anything about the characters or story. All you're doing is complaining about the graphics and making bad attempts at observation humor. You haven't actually given us a reason not the buy the game other than that and, this might come as a shock, not everyone bases a game purely on its graphics. As a 'review' this fails, big time.
From the comments this is a well liked game. Might be worth a go~

Heavy Rain is not comparable to Deadly Premonition are different genres. The two games are awesome, but Deadly Premonition is very awesome, its my first top 3 title. The story is incredible, the character are very charismatic and the game in general are fucking awesome. The graphics are only for those who can not appreciate a good game for other aspects.
BTW for this "review" I see you have not beaten the game...

You know my little brother was stupid like you...basing the game solely upon its graphics, that is until he watched me play it for about 2 hours and was floored by how amazing the storyline is. Games are not all about graphics. By the way, i've played both DP and Heavy Rain...and the only thing they share is rain, button sequences, and the fact that its an investigative game...

The INCREDIBLE bit about Deadly Premonition is that in America, IGN gave it a 2/10, yet in the UK - full of vastly more intelligent citizens - IGN awarded it a 7.5/10.
Does this not say something about Americans? That subtlety, characterisation, and plot mean nothing to these people: all they want is big guns and bright colours.
