justin hayward of the moody blues considers this song among the 5 most beautiful ever composed. i agree completely mr justin awesome hayward. i m teareyed.
This is one of my most favorite songs ever! It has a childlike & innocent tune, but it's the most romantic song I've ever heard! I imagine a child living life in the countryside when I hear this piece! Henry Mancini is my favorite artist & composer! I swear, someday, I'm going to walk down the aisle to this song!
@guisauco93 You're right, there are none... just a guess, but I'd say that for most people who are inclined to listen to this sort of music in the first place, it would be, by definition, impossible not to like this melody.
I remember getting for Christmas the Henry Mancini album of his greatest hits & this was one I played over & over, never getting tired of it. Hearing it today took me back to a happier time. Icing on the cake is hearing Andy Williams sing it.
@TonyMaximMuscles You are so right! It seems that true class doesn't exist anymore...how very sad. How nice it must've been to live in a time when women were classy, beautiful and feminine...and PROUD of it!
sends shivers down my spine. I am yet to hear a more haunting tune and the incredible beauty of Audrey, her association with this whiff of pure pleasure makes it a all time great!
Somethings never change......this song got my attention in 1961, just as it does today. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded on tape then pressed in vinyl. Thanks!
Definitely one of my favorite songs. My mom introduced this song to me when I was little. It's such a beautiful song. The music, the lyrics. The best.
I was walked down the "aisle" (a big winding staircase in an old bed and breakfast) on my wedding day to this beautiful music. My father and I came around the corner of the stairs and into view with the swell of the orchestra at 0:35 seconds. I get chills every time I hear this song.

On the first album I ever bought, (around 1964). At 20, in 1968, I was on a boat in Tahiti with several people my age and we sang this song. My ticket was paid for by my motorcycle accident. Originally from Texas, I spent the 70's in San Francisco/Marin County. The 80's in the Virgin Islands and now back on the island of Kauai for 9 years. Follow your dreams. Aloha and Peace.
I'm too young to have this song as soundtrack of my childhood memories, but when I hear it, I wish I grew up in those times , when music was still an art and could touch everybody's soul and heart.
Beautiful song! I play it often. Brings back good memories of my childhood during a more innocent time. The only song my ex didn't seem to mind me playing over and over and over!
The opening notes of this song, just take me back to a better place, a better time. My mom and dad's favourite song, just makes me want to laugh and cry all at the same time.
This is the music i used to hear all the time in my family House when I was a Kid and I am a woman a still I get transport to the time of my Mother And My aunts In Havana Cuba
Gosh, I love this song. Makes me want to go back in time when I was a child. Kinda has a sad "tone" to it. Great video. Thanks for posting. Audrey Hepburn was a classic beauty.
@streetwriter0 Right... with some exceptions, very little is left to the imagination. Some think that that is progress, but when we hear music (and I mean "music") like this, we begin to realize that perhaps we have not come as far as we think.

Das Lied paßte auch zur Serie Sex and the City. Eine tolle Liebesgeschichte zwischen Carry und Big.

@cloudjia Just think--50 years and the movie, cast and song still stick in the hearts and minds of all who remember it.
Please, Hollywood biggies, don't even try to remake this.
Juliaflo 6 months ago
@cloudjia After all, Mr. Mancini composed the beautiful haunting music, and Johnny Mercer contributed the memorable lyrics.
One of the most beautiful movie songs, deserving of its Academy Award for Best Original Song.
