You have the right idea of how to go about it but you used to many unnecessary slashes there. But the proper way to do it through Iaido is to hit them with the end of the hilt just below their neck only drawing out half the sword. then taking the sword out into a stance where you thrust back bringing the sword up through them, and them using a simple forward cut on the first opponent this is kata 4 Tsukaate. just a note you never, strike at a opponent with the end of your handle when the sword is drawn like that, it allows the enemy to grab your handle and thrust your own sword straight through you. learn some martial arts before going you tube you backward hick

A form is a way to memorise sequences of movements into your mind. Some martials artists only go by the forms, while others always try to do the parallel with reality and to think about the concequences of every little parts of a form. Personnally, I prefer the kind that think by themselves. If you understand what you are doing it is much easier to apply it or modify things to match reality. Forms and applications can be very different things, so it depends on what you are trying to do here.
In Iaido Kata Seitei 08 Hachihon-me -Ganmen-ate, the guy pulls out the sword from the saya after the punch. Is there a reason why you're not doing it this way? I think if you strike while pulling out your sword you could break your saya or your sword with the shock of the hit.
So hang on. You draw the sword, with the tip pointing at you, and smack someone in the groin with the butt of the handle. Did you even think this through before you started filming?

sorry but if youre up against anyone with any measure of combat pistol training armed with anything above a 9mm, my fav being a model 1911 .45 acp, the swordsman would probably get about 12 feet before having at least 3 rounds in his chest and maybe one in his head depending on the marksmanship level of the gunman.

When you pierce someone with a blade, the body will very likely bend over the blade, plus there will be some sort of suction (or sucsion I don't even know if it's an English word!) so the blade gets stuck in the body and you'll need to pull it out with strenght. I've learned it from Shinkendo from my sensei and some sempais

For one if you have two people attacking from the front and behind they're not going to be linear and you'd be smarter to move to one side bringing them to a front position before taking an offensive.

You can carry a katana its not concealed and your not threatening anyone with it. I used to walk to kendo class with it all the time. Got wierd looks is all. I also used to practice in the park.

actualy it is rather adept as a thrusting weapon, otherwise why would there be iaido/kenjutsu kata with it? you just cant thrust forward, you have to bring your hands up as you thrust to compensate for the sori. so the tsuka ends up about a fist higher then the kissaki when it hits. it actually has a lot of piercing power done this way.

2 people approach you at the same time and distance. If you do not move, you're dead -- while you attack one, the other kills you.
You must move in a way that puts enough distance behind you that you can turn and put both attackers in front of you.
I suggest moving and attacking 45 degrees to the side, then turn.

2nd: You didn't close distance to either opponent, so if they were actually where you were striking, you would already be dead. Any apprentice swordsman can account for blade distance from your opponent.

So, people will think twice before popping a clip or they'll have to pay a ton of money to a gun-smith for more ammunition. A form is a way to memorise sequences of movements into your mind. Some martials artists only go by the forms, while others always try to do the parallel with reality and to think about the concequences of every little parts of a form. Personnally, I prefer the kind that think by themselves. If you understand what you are doing it is much easier to apply it or modify things to match reality. Forms and applications can be very different things, so it depends on what you are trying to do here.

In Iaido Kata Seitei 08 Hachihon-me -Ganmen-ate, the guy pulls out the sword from the saya after the punch. Is there a reason why you're not doing it this way? I think if you strike while pulling out your sword you could break your saya or your sword with the shock of the hit.

@toro199999 - Some idiot always has to mention a gun in any sword video. I'm not even going to try and change your mind, but perhaps you should consider that if you're within around 21 feet the guy with the sword will kill you first.
The Mac-11 is also known to have insufficient stopping power and requires good trigger discipline not to empty the magazine in a second, leaving you defenceless.

sorry but if youre up against anyone with any measure of combat pistol training armed with anything above a 9mm, my fav being a model 1911 .45 acp, the swordsman would probably get about 12 feet before having at least 3 rounds in his chest and maybe one in his head depending on the marksmanship level of the gunman.

i recommend you to start off by studying the "traditional samurai".
they didnt wear black belts. you will need an obi and a hakama to securely wear your katana. the handle of the katana points to the right side of your body, where you can draw it quickly in a situation of need. if you bow, do not let your hand shake around loosely. put it on your thigh with your fingers close to each other. otherwise its impolite and traditional samurai had to commit seppuku for being impolite in such a way.

@apachedrifter I don't really know why there's a cleave that immediately follow a tsuki in hachimon me ganmen ate (Is that from Kenjustsu? I never heard of that kata before)
When you pierce someone with a blade, the body will very likely bend over the blade, plus there will be some sort of suction (or sucsion I don't even know if it's an English word!) so the blade gets stuck in the body and you'll need to pull it out with strenght. I've learned it from Shinkendo from my sensei and some sempais

You'd be very surprised by how often that happened to me in my home town...mind you I always carried a bokken. On a different note the instructor here is rather moronic. For one if you have two people attacking from the front and behind they're not going to be linear and you'd be smarter to move to one side bringing them to a front position before taking an offensive.

actualy it is rather adept as a thrusting weapon, otherwise why would there be iaido/kenjutsu kata with it? you just cant thrust forward, you have to bring your hands up as you thrust to compensate for the sori. so the tsuka ends up about a fist higher then the kissaki when it hits. it actually has a lot of piercing power done this way.
