With all these appearances by Gilgamesh in almost all of the Final Fantasy games, Square Enix had BETTER be building up to a spin-off where you play as Gilgamesh.
It could be about how you collect the strongest weapons of the multiverse, befriend Enkidu and others along the way, all in order to fight a villain that's out to destroy EVERY FF game universe.
Of course, the final battle theme would have to be...

And, actually, with his appearance in Duodecim, the upcoming appearance in Type-0 and his likely appearance in XIII-2 (since XIII-2 uses planned material from XIII that wasn't used, and Gilgamesh WAS planned for XIII), it kinda seems like Squenix tries to make him more popular. Maybe they already have planned something like this? Let us pray for it ... but to whom? Yevon? Cosmos? The planet? Kefka? Alexander? Shinryu? Whatever^^

@AirborneMuffins I think 6 is over rated like 7 and 8 but not 9, I really don't hear much about 9. 3 (Japan) is awesome, I replayed through it yesterday and it's still an amazing feeling. It's a typical nowadays story but with a great battle system and job class system, I personally adore it.
@BloodfelX right on, i like 6 alot if for no other reason than the sheer amount of sidequests and that AMAZING last dungeon setup (could be harder tho) 7's cool and everything but ive played it wwaaaay to many times, everytime i start playing 8, i get to the third disk and start getting bored =(. 3 is fun because of the jobs for sure! I think thats why i like 5 as well, for the fantastic amount of party customization, keep on keepin on man

@jsh020 Because it is universally recognized as popularizing the JRPG in the west. It is the first for many lovers of FF, myself included. It had an unforgettable villain, a great story, and great characters. Its battle system was one of, if not, the best in the franchise. Its final boss battle theme is easily one of the most recognizable, albeit overrated, songs in gaming. Are these good enough reasons?

@jsh020 If you want to get technical, all he did was be a hero of the Wutai wars, come home, find out he was a twisted experiment, go crazy, raze Nibelheim, and then got pwned by an average joe. Then he sat in the crater until Shinra and the party came and awoke him and the weapons. And then he summoned meteor to destroy the earth, got killed by the same dude, with help. Then he came back to destroy the earth again and got pwned again by the same guy for a third time. He just won't die.
I should also point out I said he was unforgettable, not great. I do recognize there are better villains in the FF franchise, my example would be Kefka. He was sadistic, crazy as hell, and actually 'destroyed' the world. Anyway, all I was doing was pointing out why people talk of seven constantly and why they want it remade.

@jsh020 FF7 Villains were good in that game, Had to look for them. Plot was so twisted that there were many Villians. The Heart of Shinra itself being a corrupt government made it the ultimate Villian and the fact that the good guys couldn't even defeat Shinra was awesome. It took an ancient weapon to take out the Corrupt Government, Plus the Ancient weapons were awesome challanges and not to mention Sephiroth fucked with everyone so damn much that made him evil. Don't forget Hojo.... crazy dude

@jsh020 It would have been bad ass if Hojo somehow brought Jenova back to life with her full powers and she would have killed her son making her the villian's creation which you don't see alot of that anymore. Dysley in 13 was pretty cool I think but the fact that he was kind of portraying a religious leader even tho it didnt say he was he dressed to the occasion and talked about the creator and stuff which I thought was boring him combining with Orphan's mother was cool becoming evil as fuck

@AirborneMuffins I think 6 is over rated like 7 and 8 but not 9, I really don't hear much about 9. 3 (Japan) is awesome, I replayed through it yesterday and it's still an amazing feeling. It's a typical nowadays story but with a great battle system and job class system, I personally adore it.

@BloodfelX right on, i like 6 alot if for no other reason than the sheer amount of sidequests and that AMAZING last dungeon setup (could be harder tho) 7's cool and everything but ive played it wwaaaay to many times, everytime i start playing 8, i get to the third disk and start getting bored =(. 3 is fun because of the jobs for sure! I think thats why i like 5 as well, for the fantastic amount of party customization, keep on keepin on man

@jsh020 Because it is universally recognized as popularizing the JRPG in the west. It is the first for many lovers of FF, myself included. It had an unforgettable villain, a great story, and great characters. Its battle system was one of, if not, the best in the franchise. Its final boss battle theme is easily one of the most recognizable, albeit overrated, songs in gaming. Are these good enough reasons?

@Dagger2011 hell you talking about FF7 had one of the worst villians around, he kills aeris and sits in a cave, thats ALL he does, a real villian was like emporer from FF2, hes manipulative, when he wanted somthign he got it, when you look at all the shit hes really done you just see how much misfortune he brings(hes destroys both heaven and hell i mean how much more evil to you get) THATS a villian, sephi is a joke, litterly every FF villian is better, even freaking vain from FF12 did worse

@jsh020 If you want to get technical, all he did was be a hero of the Wutai wars, come home, find out he was a twisted experiment, go crazy, raze Nibelheim, and then got pwned by an average joe. Then he sat in the crater until Shinra and the party came and awoke him and the weapons. And then he summoned meteor to destroy the earth, got killed by the same dude, with help. Then he came back to destroy the earth again and got pwned again by the same guy for a third time. He just won't die.

I should also point out I said he was unforgettable, not great. I do recognize there are better villains in the FF franchise, my example would be Kefka. He was sadistic, crazy as hell, and actually 'destroyed' the world. Anyway, all I was doing was pointing out why people talk of seven constantly and why they want it remade.

@Dagger2011 FF has always had awsome villianns, FF7's and XII's are the only oneswith lame ones, and even then vain did get kinda awsome at the very very end, but i mean very very end like last hour of the game, and even though FFXIII's villian cam ein late he was a damn good villian, i think not seeing him much made him even better cause when he came on he was just that much more intimidating, i also love villians like him that just fuck with everyones emotion like he did, and kefka IS awsome

@jsh020 I'll admit Vain wasn't the best villain ever but he had the potential to be, he simply didn't get enough screen time. But you have to remember he was fighting WARS not BATTLES so it makes since all his best work was done in the background.

the only one coming close to beat that guy is Kefka from FFVI. He kill millions of people, Ruins the face of the earth, becomes a God himself AND he also has a memorable personality. Also to him is one of the best Boss battles in my gaming experiances, not only being really epic but also a bit symbolic. In other words he does everything that Sephiroth DIDN'T. I mean c'mon he's able to manipulate the main character from the START of the game. Sephiroth... take note from Kefka -.-

sephiroth kills one person, talks to cloud for 5 minuetes then sits in a cave for the rest of the game,

@jsh020 lol you're ignorant if you think thats all sephi did, what about all of the strings he was still pulling mentally/magically/however while he was still frozen up north? nvr mind the fact that 7 was about the birth of a villain instead of the typical setting of having the villain already aged and experienced and poised to begin the takeover. Plus you never really do get to hear what sephi has to say post-nibelheim seeing as how after that its Jenova's cells speaking through him.

@jsh020 FF7 Villains were good in that game, Had to look for them. Plot was so twisted that there were many Villians. The Heart of Shinra itself being a corrupt government made it the ultimate Villian and the fact that the good guys couldn't even defeat Shinra was awesome. It took an ancient weapon to take out the Corrupt Government, Plus the Ancient weapons were awesome challanges and not to mention Sephiroth fucked with everyone so damn much that made him evil. Don't forget Hojo.... crazy dude

@jsh020 My bad dude I didn't see your main post I wasn't being negative Just voicing what I saw as good villians but yeah I agree, Sephiroth was a good manipulator to Cloud tho just a bit overpowered especially now with all the extra ff7 side games, They should have made the Phantom Train in ff6 a main villian. Allowing itself to be suplexed and end up back on the tracks is evil in its own ways!

@jsh020 It would have been bad ass if Hojo somehow brought Jenova back to life with her full powers and she would have killed her son making her the villian's creation which you don't see alot of that anymore. Dysley in 13 was pretty cool I think but the fact that he was kind of portraying a religious leader even tho it didnt say he was he dressed to the occasion and talked about the creator and stuff which I thought was boring him combining with Orphan's mother was cool becoming evil as fuck

@jsh020 thats why i dont understand why jecht is the main villian in dissidia it should have been seymour, jecht sacrificed himself so that someone would find a way to destroy sin once and for all, seymour was pure evil he wanted to kill everyone thinking that would "save" them, thats why he should of been the main villian in dissidia but i guess they wanted to expand on the whole father son story, he needs to be in the next sequel of them game thats for sure

@jsh020 havent played 012 as of yet, have it ordered on ebay since for some strange reason its so hard to find here in ireland but i think there are rumours seymour may be making an appearance in the next dissida plus seifer and zack, they definately need to balance it out now since theres more good guys than bad now im hoping theres a few more added villians in this like emperor gestahl etc, that would be cool

@tosspot86 dissidia 012 was good but i was wondering why FFXIII never got a villian despite the game having like 4 antagonists, i mean how awsome would it be to see bartandulous and emporer converse, like who would screw who over, though i guess if bartandulous was in the game all the villians would get screwed over by him, the guys kinda is a god from the very start, kinda unfair
