  • 3:04. Flashbang ^^

  • haha the cookie is fucking funny!

  • Damn it my eyes tighting effect from this video is laser of flames!!!

  • funny cookie monster

  • I just found your show. This is just amazing stuff. Cool stuff, fun stuff, and good music \m/ \m/ !!!

You've got more than enough to get to the top 100 subscribed, on my opinion.

Keep up the great work :)

  • Fireworks! XD

  • Man, what kind of ventilation do you have in that place? You... do... have ventilation, right? :)

  • for your safety, don't watch it directly into the flame.

  • Oooo.. how about next you do thermite! That'll cut through just about anything.

  • Love your show but you've lowered your intelligence by doing overdone chris crocker :(

  • The cookie monster didn't help? :(

  • I'm waiting for the Video titled "Having fun Swimming With a 5lb block of pure Sodium"

  • "Slightly" mad?

  • Me gusta cookies

    Exploding cookies=pure awesome

  • haha is it weird that i could only think of René Descartes when i saw your shirt?

    Haha "Cogito Ergo Sum"

    Very nice work

  • where do you get the magnesium powder?

    btw this is COOKIE!!!

  • Mg Powder from Skylighter (dot) com. It's a US company that specializes in firework-making supplies. However, something as dangerous as fine-grain Magnesium powder is usually only shippable domestically via ground. So you may have to find a supplier closer to Norway in your case.

  • a thanks

and i shal look for one closer to norway first i need a mask thingy tough

  • people in my science class would take piece's and if there was any subsitute teachers they would light it

  • Don't they use magnesium for flash bangs?

  • we did something like this at my school, my and my mate nearly blew the school up :P

  • THIS IS COOKIE!

  • umm, CRITCICS...

    1) The Chris Croaker Vs. Cookie... HIL-fooking-ARIUS

    2) The "this experiment is highly Stupid" HAHAHAHAH !

    3) The Cookie Monster At The End... MWAHAHA

so overall, why I had CRITIC as a dumb comment title, I will never know... I WUVS SCIENCE !!!

    5 stars ^_^

  • h3y, i g0t a gr3at LAUGH at the spoof of the "dramatic gofer stare" that ya did using ur Cookie Monster @ the end..!.. Keep up the fun Sci stuff man, i think i'm going to have to subscribe to ur channel;-)

  • gotta love chemistry.

  • Nothing like burning magnesium. Well, there are a few things, but magnesium won't blow your house up.. unless you have a helluva lot of magnesium.

By the way, you had me in tears with the cookie monster vs. chris crocker bit.

  • omg... Still laughing from that idiotic britney-cookie-thingy xD

  • Good! I wouldn't want to think I'd go through all that effort to be an idiot if no one laughed. :)

  • Decided not to approve my remark telling people not to play with powdered metals? That's OK...

Where's the video demo of how to play with chlorates?

I know... Do a demo of hypergolics. Show kids how to mix fuming nitric acid with terpentine. It won't kill too many of them...

  • Do yourselves a favor people... Don't play around with powdered metals. Especially magnesium.

Listen to what the man said...

    "This demonstration is dangerously stupid."

He said that because it is TRUE.

  • THIS IS COOOOOOOKIIIIIEEEEE!!!!!!!

  • first word. AWESOME

    Second. funny

  • lol milk of magnesia

  • gotta admit, nice video. Funny Croker spoof. Funny mag dust throwage. Lol. Something I wood do. I like how u used facts about your chemicals.

  • Bizarre! Oh, and interesting and funny.

  • Nice video. BTW what does your shirt say?

  • I think, therefore I win.

  • whoa flash grenade much

  • lol love the chris crocker and cookie monster thing

  • you should have done it outside

  • LOL this was great. Magnessium ribon is what i've always used...i had no clue i could just throw tones of powder in!

  • You'll get a almost the same result with suger combined with saltpetre. It will burns extremely intensive and hard to put out.

  • what kind of cans are magnesium made out of?

    can anyone tell me pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

  • THIS IS COOKIE!

  • nice vid :)

  • THIS.. IS.. COOKIE!!!!

  • hey i know a kid who stole some magnesium and burn it on his back lawn and posted on youtube he is one of your friends if you want to see it check it out it on my friends list number 2

  • magnesium ribon has to be the best though

  • ouuuuccch!!!!!!!!!!!!!ur too smart for me my brain hurts lol haha

  • lol meet the spartins

  • where's the water? Throw in some water :-)

  • Wouldn't have worked as well with the powder. However, I do have larger pieces that will be used later to demonstrate why it's dangerously-stupid to try to put a magnesium fire out with water, never fear.

  • other uses: Milk of Magnesia

HAHAHA, i laughed my ass off. genius, genius

  • I know. I will be doing a couple longer demos of MG later...that way the camera will have time to adjust and not just go blind for a few frames.

  • lol XD

  • Cut the first 2 minutes off, more burning and less yaking.

  • Same reply as the last guy... Some like just the splodey (but there is plenty of that on the internet)...I add in WHY the splodey and some people appreciate it. Hence the yakkin'. Can't make everyone happy, and I'm not tryin' to.

  • Fair enough. But I'm willingto bet everyone would be happy with a boom.

  • True. But I'm trying to do something different from all of the other videos that go "boom" but have nothing else. No explanation, no comedy, and no hot chicks. I don't have a supply of hot chicks handy (at least those that would want to get anywhere near things exploding), so I work with what I've got. :)

  • omg lose the chris cookie moster whole weird thing...

  • Some people love the silly, some people don't. Some videos have the silly, some videos don't.

I do what's fun for me.

Can't please everyone all the time, sorry you didn't like this one - odd stranger on the Interwebitubies.

But rejoice! I don't repeat jokes, so you won't see the C.Crocker/C.Monster again, but there will be more future weirdness, just different kinda. I'm "mad," remember? :p

  • try burning magnesium tape

  • Too slow. :)

  • dewd i luv the ending ur really good at this stuff i luv splodey stuff and things that go boom i hope u make more

  • dewd i loved the ending ur great at this kinda stuff i luv it when things go boom ty for posting this vid

  • this is genious... I thought it was about magnesium.... ^_^ Loved it i hope you do something like this again sometimes.\

  • my motorcycle clutch plate is made from magnesium :)

  • nicely done, looked like fun

I also like your channel name

that was a good book. I read it a few years back

  • Very cool how the room goes completely white with a handful of the magnesium thrown onto the fire.

If only science was as cool as this in school.. I might have a little more patience.

  • This is the best video ever!

  • What's the worst you've ever hurt yourself playing with fire?

  • Seriously? Lost a couple hairs that grew back later.

I've been burnt worse being out in the sun too long or by having an accident while cooking.

  • Fair enough. I guess if you know what you're doing it isn't as dangerous as it appears. Keep up the madness! This is precisely the sort of content youtube needs. Thanks for the reply.

  • It can be very dangerous. I'm just very mindful of what I'm doing, and take what safety precautions I can - and still have a fun "stunt". In this sort of thing, a little paranoia can be a good thing. :)

  • That is bright. I wonder how far it would light up outside at night. Seeing that it turned the room completely white. I wonder how much it can turn outside in the area white, and for how far. Would be a interesting experiment.

  • THIS IS COOKIE!!!!! ROFL!!

  • LOL...great job man...keep it up!

  • LOL...great job man...keep it up! :D

  • burning and blowing stuff up,thats what the ppl wants

  • Mint video! educational + funny :)

  • Powdering magnesium does not produce more energy. The same amount of energy is released in a shorter period of time thus providing an intense reaction.

  • My point was that it IS more energy, as in energy/time. I never said it was more energy in total. Thank you for splitting hairs. Your anal-retentiveness is noted.

  • rofl

  • crack cookies

  • Leave Brittany ALONE!!!

    :P

  • isnt that what they use in stun grenades like in socom or metal gear solid

  • that's cool -- where do you get the magnesium? the only magnesium i know of is in the vitamin bottle. oh, for more cool stuff search for "fun with war crimes" or click our ID -- see bush on trial now

  • is this guy a chemist

  • I wanted to see the magnesium explosion, not some horribly done Crocker impersonation...with a fucking cookie monster puppet.

  • I love to use Youtube to teach my "genius" kid about science phenomenon. This is a GREAT science video for kids!!

  • Very informative and cool at the same time.

  • They're all fake.

You get high ratings through use of hacks.

    You Cheater.

  • Nothing fake in any of my videos, except if you're counting the "fake" Chris Crocker and Cookie Monster. The demos though, are all real. Go read some more chemistry/physics, and you'll have some idea of what you're talking about next time. Oh, and I never use hacks or 'bots to get views or ratings. EVER.

  • Well, in that case dude. I believe you. Sorry for doubting you.

Also, congrats on getting in the high ratings then. I guess you earned it :D.

  • No prob.

  • I have now subscribed.

  • this video is no longer availible?

  • Alright, but it has a certain feel of trying too hard.

  • you can use this stuff to cut through steel support columns...quickly...

  • Yep. Actually planning a future video where I use a magnesium rod to make a thermal lance.

  • for demolition work there's some way to make a putty that you then apply to the column in like a string ring around where you want to make the cut. when its' ignited, it burns the steel like a hot knife in butter. that might be a cool thing to track down at your local demolitions company...along with a few feet of slightly used steel. unless you figure out how to make it yourself. might make an interesting video.

  • I will be using magnesium to make a thermal lance, which would cut through steel rather handily. However, I'll look into what you mentioned, too. Sounds like fun - under the right conditions (like not catching fire). :)

  • chemistry is so cool. you can break stuff so much better with it. when compared to, say, a stick. and it's so much more fun to watch, too. sticks are boring. and not very effective, either. although, i must say that i did enjoy the opening scene of 2001. but, that had a monkey. there's nothing like a monkey with a stick to get me going. give that lance thingy to a monkey and i might have to touch myself.

    keep up the good work.

  • Its called thermite, and its easy to make.

  • Yes, but what do you add to make thermite a paste? Usually thermite isn't used to CUT things, but to weld them together (such as it's early use to weld railroad sections together, o r with thermite grenades which both melt enemy assets, but also fuse things together with molten metal).

  • I loved the cookie monster...

  • kjklh

  • THAT WAS AWESOME! lol the 'leave britney alone' reference was quite funny.

about the science anyway... i know what magnesium does over a fire, we did it in science class but is this real? we had a small white light that we were told not to look at - even though we did - and it wasn't filling the room with white light. i realise you used powder and a lot of it but is the white light fake or not?

  • Totally real. The reason why the screen whites out is because my camera couldn't handle the sudden change in brightness.

  • Also, i believe that fireworks (the white ones) use this to... basically make a really bright white light

  • Correct.

  • lol nice and funny vid :D

  • really retarded. but oh well

  • I love how it burns so bright, the entire screen turns white, and the video is unable to show how much brighter it actually his haha.

  • The guy was burning magnesium in his GARAGE! Thats AWESOME!

  • I'm going to assume magnesium plays an important role in flash grenades and such now.

  • EEEK!! Dramatic look cookie monster FTW!!

  • ummm was he trying to be funny? cause it wasnt really. but the fire and stuff was pretty sweet

  • Pretty cool Bud! Next time, get a mag fire going and shoot it with a water pistol. Then do a compare with shooting it with a water pistol filled with gas. Bet you won't see too much difference.

  • Yeah, I know...Don't put a mag fire out with water. It will be a future demonstration, believe me. :)

  • You don't need the Britney thing in there. You're presenting something that is way more interesting than her. I love when people present cool scientific facts in a fun way, but there's no need to try so hard to hold our attention. I think people will respond to your work just fine.

  • Actually, I just thought it was a funny parody. I like science, and I like parodies and other silly stuff. Some people like the science/explosions, some like the silly, some like both. But I can't make everyone 100% happy all of the time, so I just do what's fun for me.

  • Hey is this what they use in flashbang grenades?

  • Some, yes.

  • leikd it

  • I wonder....What cookies came with this !!

  • Wow now i've really seen it, a guy with absolutly NO charisma doing cool things with science... i feel sad and dead inside!

  • You go ahead and do that, "Amazing Actor" who yet has no videos. :p

  • Hilarious AND splodey. Awesome.

  • Your crazy, this is madness....

    madness......this is COOKIE!!!! hehehe lol

  • I know it is very interesting what you are speakinhg and I also knowe that you can help me did a silly thino on the only video i put up. i am trying to change the picture that is over my vedio ((not vedio over my profile)) and also and the left of the page I can I delete this from my picture and put the opera singers where they belong. Help, Or, can you tell me were to go

  • When you go to edit your video, it gives you a choice between 3 pictures to use for the video. You can only select from those three. I believe that's what you're asking about, yes?

  • haha, cookie monster ftw!

  • Explosions and funny stuff. Great video man!

  • Nifty! I liked the residual that didn't go up right away. It made the flames all sparkly.

  • Pretty cool! I like the tiny bits of residual that didn't go up immediately because then the flame was all sparkly.

  • cool

  • That would make a good firework display...

along with blinding half the people who watch it...

  • i've done that in chemistry :D! except for on a much smaller bunsen burner scale x]. our teacher told us to gather round when he showed us.

nearly blinded and almost set on fire. hurray :D!

    :/

    and lastly: "THIS IS COOKIE!"

lmao you're such a genius xP!

  • I have a really strong urge to throw magnesium onto a fire now...or, at least, have someone else do it while I stand many feet away with a protective suit on, and *pokes* protective-helmet-thingy-which-name-escapes-me... Burns and blindness are two ailments I do not need nor want.

  • Hence why it's dangerously-stupid. :)

And it's an Welder's Helmet with automatically darkening visor. I weld once in a while and it comes in handy.

  • instead of this si cookie say THIS IS SPARTA

  • Nah. I wanted to put a different spin on it, and I didn't have a deep hole to kick anyone into anyhow.

  • It looks like a flash gernade when it ignites

  • I believe some flash-bang grenades use magnesium, so that'd make sense.

  • Hahahhah Lol love the spoof. Did you ever give the cookie?

  • That cookie was sitting in the freezer for weeks while my friend and I were trying to get our schedules synched up to finish it. I ATE that cookie as soon as the scene was done. I earned it! :)

  • Flash bombs, nice. I'm so going to be a Ninja now.

  • This is COOKIES! Priceless :P

But yeah, magnesium has always rocked, it just does a little bit more now :)

  • ye this was made of win and awsome hmmm...winsome?

  • I don't know if that makes sense, but I'll take it!

  • how a bout Wawsome?

  • that was pretty damn cool

  • 'splodey! =]

Think of the marshmellows you could cook.

  • ACK! Magnesium Oxide (produced by burning magnesium) isn't really a good think to have on your marshmallows. It's make them poisonous, in fact.

In spite of the fact that "Marshmallows of DEATH" sounds really really cool...I'll pass.

  • omglol the cookie monster is awesome! Nice fire man.

  • questsion were can i get Magnesium...not that i wanner try it my self or enything...just...hmmm... els great video mate keep it up

  • Big pieces of magnesium (like the rod I had - which I'll be using in a later video) you can get from plumbing suppliers. Strips and such (which light more easily), you can get from science stuff websites like Edmunds or Fischer.

Powdered magnesium - since it's rather dangerous - I'll have to let you find that one on your own, sorry.

  • ok, seriously, reshoot this video without the chris crocker bit. that was painfully unfunny.

  • Sorry you didn't like that part, but I think you're in the minority here. And even if you weren't, I'm sticking with what I've got. That part of the video was fun to make. :) Glad you liked the rest of it, though.

  • I liked it... I liked the cookie monster bit more out of the scene. But man, a white flame. AHAHAHA!

  • lol pretty good i like the funny
