  • Hi, what scale length does it have?

  • In Germany these guitars sell for about 200 GBP ! Nice

  • You should consider another amp to demonstrate a decent clean. The clean from the marshall makes it sound as cheap as it is.

  • "An awesome retro machine of love"

Best description for a guitar ever.

  • At only *PING!*

  • @MetalStormUnit

"PING" sounds like a sweet deal !

  • Are those humbuckers the same size as normal full-size humbuckers? I'd love to know! Great video by the way

  • Looks like a strat on steroids :L would you recommend?

  • Rob, is that a JVM410 Model in back of you? Do you like the tone of the newer amps like the JVM410 with all the versatility it has or do you prefer the Old School Plexi style? Thanks!

  • @hawg427 It is the JVM205h.

  • Or JVM210h Haha.

  • hey is this good for hard rock?

  • hey... this video rocks dude! but I wanna ask you something... is this guitar enough flexible to play any kind of music? m... you know... something like from punk to tharsh?

  • shite hair

  • Rob i must tell you..i do watch your videos sometimes, even if youre reviewing hilarious guitars like this one xaxaxa, only to hear you saying greeeeeeetings :PPP

  • i have a Hofner Galaxie from 1950 :D

  • wow this looks great! i looked at this video to see if i should buy it and in the shop near me i can get it for £259... i'm guessing i should :)

  • That's a pretty sweet guitar, I own a 1976 Hofner Galaxie. I bought it from a friend for $40

  • I've had mine for about three months now and I'm never switching guitars again. Only thing I had to do was change the tremolo and tuners because there was a flaw in the tremolo that prevented it from coming back up after I used it. Now it's got a Kluson Jazzmaster tremolo and Kluson tuners and it couldn't be better. Thank you, Chappers, for reviewing this!

  • hahah!! beautiflul wooden win machine!!! Freaking love you rob!!! your fingers are magic and have great tone.

  • The Hofner gnomes are really doing their job well :)

  • can anyone give me any details on the specs on this guitar, is it 25"5 or 24 3/4 ? nut width and whatnot

  • @nihilnoise

    25.5" probably

  • how much is PING in pounds?

  • Awesome! A guitar that is versatile and good for any genre as well as an alternative body style! Nice playing, Rob. Wish I could have your fingers.

  • I just cant get used to the Hofners, they remind me of the Kays that were sold in K mart yrs ago...

  • Gliss - that's a new word pal - well done.

  • because starting from 7-th fret every bend sounds like hell.(I think it's called a bend-out). I've searched on the internet and find out that it's mostly because my guitar doesn't have a compound radius. Does this Hofner guitar has a compound radious? I'm not a serious bender, but i like to play some Santana tones from time to time.

  • Hello mr. Chappers. I'm looking for the cheapest electric guitar that is well intonated and stays well in tune. I live in Eastern Europe(Romania). Here , the average sallary is about 200-250 euros. It's obsious that I can't afford a 1000 decent american fender stratocaster or smth like that.

I have already a small tube class a combo, a strat with fixed bridge(throughout body) with awfull tuners and nut(it doesn't stay in tune at all, especially when bending). Any upgrade doesn't worth it

  • Got one coming my way. I really like your reviews. Keep the good stuff comin'! :)

  • nice demo and playin. is the whammy-bar screwed in or is it fixed like on fender jaguars?? anyway a nice instrument for a good price!

  • hey Rob, you're fantastic !! really impressive player. I'm looking for a new amp...a very versatile amp. Is the jvm better than a mesa stiletto ??? I' m shure that the british amps are the best...

  • holy schoyboygans!!! i expected er to be priced around 2000!!!!!!

  • powerful and creamy.

  • Bloody hell - first guitar I ever had was a Hofner Galaxie. It was missing the starting handle though. must have been ...................... er 1974 or 1975. Think I bought it for £26 and traded it in for some greivous all-black semi acoustic.

    Whats the story Chap-dude?

  • Good god, that thing is beautiful. Me wantey.

  • Looks like a little blues beast to me

  • i actually really dig the switches, you can get some cool sounds out of it. for example: the neck pickup + bridge pickup combined. regular strats aren't able to do that. and you also are able to do killswitch effetcts like that! sounds pretty groovey to me! awsome review!

  • sorry i must say those switches are rediculously point less what about a 5 way switch

  • @crisDAwog yeah having to switch on/off the pickups is crazy and unwieldy. i agree, just use a 5-way switch and set it in the proper location, behind the volume knob. NOT on the bottom horn, NOT on the TOP horn, not in (insert other retarded location here) *COUGH* GIBSON *COUGH* but behind the volume knob or in front of the volume knob is where it needs to be. other wise you won't be able to reach it and it's pointless.

i wish other companies besides Ibanez would realize this...

  • @RobChappers I think that, basswood is indifferent tonal wood. I mean, guitars made of basswood have lack of character in tone, compared to Strat's (Alder/Ash), or LP (Mahogany). You need to enrich the tone with your effects and pedals. After all it's a matter of taste....

  • @zile20584 I have to disagree on the talk about basswood. The think is that you are most likely thinking cheaper basswood.

High end basswood is different. Just try a MusicMan JP signature, they are basswood.

But I can 100% agree on that its a matter of taste in the end.

  • Where are those Hofners made nowadays, Chappers? China..Korea?

  • I live in the US. How could I get this thing?

  • @MuseDen go to google, click shopping at the top, search hofner galaxie, go to the first link(should be themusiczoo . com). its $329 US

  • That guitar reminds me of a Fender Jazzmaster...

  • That was a nifty guitar!!

  • Good sounding guitar.

I like the idea of the separate pickup switches, but I think they're a bit impractical. I think if there was a master pickup switch, maybe the trad. Strat rotary switch, then this guitar would be beast, although, the master switch would render the pickup switches useless.

Idk, I enjoy being able to access every tonal facet of my guitar with a single switch or tone knob turn, but that's just me.

  • what marshall is tht

  • Neck pickup + Middle pickup = EPIC WARMNESS!

    P.S.:Because warmness is a word \m/

  • I don't judge guitars out of chappers reviews.

cause he can probably make a cowbell sound like a 2000£ guitar.

  • CHAPPIE IS A MARSHALL MAN NOW!!!

  • Mini-humbuckers are the tits for pretty much every music style. They equal humbuckers on distortion and own them on clean. I don't know why they're used so rarely tbh.

  • Cool guitar, but isn't galaxie spelled like galaxy?;)

I guess you are still thinking in a dutch way with the -ie;)

    Lars

  • woo when i first seen it i was thinking £1000 + .... well priced !

  • Wow ! did I hear right Chappers is going to lose weight !

  • @ragegap Dude I am getting shredded like a chinese duck!!!! And I am going beefcake like Petrucci \m/

  • @RobChappers

Remember, Petrucci eats newborn babies from an unknown dimension to keep his shape every day, so you better be commited to this, Chappers.

  • @RobChappers I hope not beefcake like cartman! :/ haha

  • do you reckon it would be possible to get the pickups changed? would in the same way with the switching?

  • lol "powerful and creamy"

  • Your fingers have fantastic tone Rob. :)

  • @Chaz6993X Thank you sir that is a nice compliment ;-)

  • Reminds me of the Fender Jaguar, dunno why think its those retro 60'slooks.

Defo not my type of thing, more for the indie and grunge kids out there i suspect.

Nice looking guitar though, sounds real nice too.

Thanks again dude, keep those reviews coming!

  • Im watching your videos for a quite long time, and I just want to say that you awesome, man! P.S. guitar looks/sounds great, and the price is good!

  • @Mindelt4 Cheers dude, it always nice to hear that ;-)

  • @RobChappers Another great video as always. Hope your lost of weight won't result in a lost of talent :P

    no,I know it won't:P

  • I think those straight horizontal fret inlays would really fuck with me. But they do look really cool :)

  • Man, it's like there must be some kind of trick getting a guitar like that for so little. All I can say is good job Hofner and thanks Rob for an excellent review.

  • she is purty :)

  • What a queer axe... Dave Edna would love it...

  • Liked the demo, but please review more Ibanez guitars :)

    Cheers!

  • Reminds me of a Wilshire a lot. Pretty cool. I like the down to the facts review with lots of playing. Not that I don't love your Andertons reviews.

  • Are you trying to make your videos more professional? Not the Chappers way, isn't it?

  • Jaguar + LP?

  • That's a beautiful and classy guitar. I'm a big fan of Hofner, especially what they've been doing in recent years, and this is very tempting. I like the retro vibe and think it'd be ideal for those surf-style tunes along with something with a bit more grit.

Do they make a higher end model too?

  • Sounds surprisingly good. Aesthetics aren't for everyone I understand but I don't mind them. For a guitar that sounds like this at this price point I see no reason to complain.

  • i dont like cable input...

  • this might be a good blend for people that are fans of gibsons and fenders... not my style though. Strat SG.

  • the ass-type headstock?! o.O

after you said the thing about fat dudes, now i cant help seeing the guitar as a rightside titty-holder when you play xD Not saying you have manboobs or anything, but that's what it looks like to me now! Your fault >.<

About the guitar: I love the shape and looks! Personally i would have added more controls. 3way switch with phase invert, maybe optional seriesmode. Individual volume controls .. etc :) But, i await my ML2 with patience, but once it arrive, surgery ON!

  • straight up review...no bullshit from who i consider the master of reviews.....facts, sound and humour.....god bless you Chappers!

  • good cleans

  • Don't like the 3 pickups (too crowded), don't like the fretboard inlays, don't like the pickguard reaching up into the upper horn.

Not my cup of tea. Great playing, though, as usual...

  • >.< i really dont like the look it.....the tremolo thing going on is sweet and the pickups look kinda cool....but in my oppinion its quite ugly.....meh looks dont really matter when you have a sweet sound eh? :P

  • ugly headstock

  • I love how new and untouched the marshall looks

  • Rob you should review a MOOG Guitar and Both Parker dragonfly, Parker Mojo Fly. There aren't any GOOD reviews or any at all and I think you would give everything justice. Monkey justice because you are the Lord!

  • Great demo chap! ;-)

  • I love the vintage look. mmmmmmmm

  • Nice one Rob \M/
