Brett Favre could have won up to 4 superbowl rings in his career if he had just been a little more smart an a play here or there. They should have beat Denver the year Elway won their first. They shouldn't have lost to the Giants in the NFC title game..and they shouldn't have lost to the Saints either.

all i have to say to this is look at the 1995-1997 season's for Favre and compare them to Rodgers past 3 years. Favre is better people.

Brett Favre already had 3 seasons of NFL experience by the time the 1995 season started. you need to compare each QB's first three seasons as a starter. the numbers are nearly identical, but lean slightly toward Rodgers because he can protect the ball better. and of course it took Aaron 3 seasons to get a ring vs Favre's 5. Favre's 95-97 vs Rodgers' 11-13 is yet to be seen.

@duvalinhn they were both 27 when they won the super bowl, and Favre won an MVP that year and Rodgers didn't but did win the SB MVP however if you look at Favre's numbers, he should've won the SB 31 MVP or at least tied with howard. Nothing against Rodgers, hes a good quarterback but he's no Brett Favre.

@WarEagle140 age means nothing compared to NFL experience. and MVP is just the opinion of a panel of journalists so I avoid using that award as a stat. I'm sure Favre would trade 2 MVP's for 2 Lombardis. Favre is physically way tougher. Rodgers is more intelligent, more mobile and more careful with the ball. Their arm strength is very similar. while Rodgers will never break any QB record set by Favre, I think he's a better pure passer and overall QB when you take his running skills into account.

@duvalinhn I think you're forgetting how fast Favre was in his prime.  I think Rodgers may be faster but Favre could move as well. Also, Favre was very intelligent and spent more time in the game tape room reviewing games than anybody, including Manning, especially in his later years when he would go straight to the game film right after the game instead of celebrating the win. Favre also had a stronger arm, theres no doubt about that. Even at 40 he was throwing 65+ yds. Rodgers is more careful

He lead the league in almost every passing category those 3 years and lead the team to the NFC Championship in his first MVP season and the super bowl in the other 2 MVP seasons. Yes he would rather have trophy's instead but it is what it is. Rodgers is a good QB, too early to call him great yet but I think he will be great, but a Brett Favre he will never be. I think his passer rating will be higher cuz he will have less INTs tho

@golffreak68 Favre should have won SB 31 MVP (2 passing touchdowns, including SB record 81 yard td pass and a rushing touchdown) and in 01 he should have won MVP(missed out by 1 vote) and in 09 Favre or Brees should have won/tied MVP... and in 97, Favre played amazing as well and deserved the MVP too. Rodgers is good, but he has a long way to go to being a legend like Favre.. put aside your feelings on Favre and be honest

@golffreak68 I've been a loud Favre detractor since the divorce and the asinine treatment Favre dished out his final three years with the Pack, and the three years following, but Favre had one of the best runs in his "fat years" (25-27) of any QB ever. Comparing Favre from 25-27 and Rodgers 25-27 and Favre wins by a small margin. It's great that the Pack have had great QB'ing. Now if Favre had just concentrated on being the best PACKER QB he could be instead of trying to be GM too....

In other words, with the team that was constructed by 1995, Mark Brunell could have won at least one Super Bowl, if not more. He wouldn't have been around as long as Favre playing at as high a level (obviously Brunell is/was still in the league thru 2010) but who knows? Everything now would be different too, but we might have had it even better after 2000, or it could have been worse. But we know what we did get out of Favre, one SB, a huge ego, and screwed in the end.

@toolkien Possibly the dumbest two comments I've ever read. Rodgers is great, and the offense is more quarterback-centric now than it ever was with Favre. But Favre is one of the greatest of all time. Mark Brunell was good, but Favre could make throws Brunell could only dream of. The guy won three straight MVPs, had only one losing season in Green Bay (the same number Rodgers has already), went to back to back Super Bowls, and was tougher, by far, than any other QB in league history.

If Brett had really retired (& sportsmen& women need to know when their best work is over & leave the scene gracefully, still being admired) he would not have gotten traded to the Jets & been involved in that tawdry episode which has tarnished him as a man. MVP's are personal. Most of Favre's accomplishments are personal. If a guy runs up great personal stats AND wins my team a string of Lombardis, great. If not? Then I examine just exactly what he did for my team. One Super Bowl when my team had its second best team ever in its history, in a playoff run where that guy had the lowest average attempts (i.e. had to rely on him the least) and not much else other than a string of low level playoff exits on his INTs, isn't good enough where it counts.
