The mistake you make is starting below the tip to place your first clamp. Place the first clamp at the tip, always on the same spot on your form. Then place the second and third clamp below that. Otherwise you can get an imbalance between the top recurve and the bottom recurve.

boilings a great idea- ive got more successful and less burnt staves from doing it this way.
Nice bending into the form too, looks like its taken the bend and heat really well

FYI, the form is from parts of an old plow. Like the kind that used to be drawn by horses/oxen/etc...
It sure gives a nice curve.

Great video ty if you used a froe you would get more accurate splits from the staves.
Also saw nice steam bender here on utube
looked like a presure cooker with pvc pipe.
