  • 11 OUT OF 10.

  • a classic

  • This woman helped me through puberty....she is dirty...

  • @staffsmole your right!!!!!!!!!! manys the wank i had over her!

  • @keith6662 mnmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice me too lol

  • The Violins in this make the song! Ahh, the good old days before computer generated background music. The days when REAL musicians and REAL musical instruments were used!

  • The woman who sings this is the closest i've ever seen to being a Moss Goddess! ie... She looks and dresses and sings like a piece of moss.

  • Limmy brought me here.

  • steve harley

  • I loved this group the moment I heard My Baby's Baby, then I heard this one. They definately had an unmistakable sound. I've recently stumbled onto other tunes from them and they are all impressive. A Hit in the discos, but they didn't get quite the airplay that they deserved. White girl power vocals in the late 70s was a rarity!

  • just one of those songs that take you back :-)

  • not sure why i love this rercord but one of top disco record of all time in my view

  • No drugs??? lol, their called Liquid Gold for gods sake!! Amyl Nitrate before you ask...

  • This reminds me of a weeks holiday at Mablethorpe : D My mate and I used to sneak into the disco just to dance to this!!! Those were the days of abandonment and happy times, sunny afternoons and balmy evenings. Great stuff thanks! : )

  • @MissInformed1967 Was it Golden Sands? I was there with my girlfriend around the 20th July for a week. gorgeous weather.... though the pool was like something from the Arctic. I nearly died when I dived in hahahahahaha

  • @Timetraveller2208 Yes it was there and around that time : ) we had some brilliant holidays there. We were supposed to be in this afternoon talent show on camp, we'd rehearsed a Crankie sketch and was all up for it, and then I can remember us both chickening out and hiding outside while this guy was calling our names out on the stage lol. Dunno about the pool but can believe how freezin it must have been. Ahh nostalgia trip for sure ; )

  • I think she now runs a Pine Furniture shop in Surrey........Bring back that voice one last time.......lets have some fun again.

  • YOMANDA - SYNTH AND STRINGS!

  • Dancin myself dizzy at Tiffanys in Newcastle U Tyne . We thought them days would never end!!!!

  • The candle light club Llanelli music in the 70's

  • I danced myself dizzy to this one many many times x

  • i don't care if this song is cheesy i just love it to bits i was six years old when this was released in 1980 31 years later i got it on my i pod they don't make songs like this anymore such a happy song

  • guy on drums is Eddie Rothe who joined The Searchers 1n 97 before settling down with Jayne McDonald in 2010

  • Great memories from when I was 12 years old! They don't make 'em like this anymore!

  • dizzy

  • its 31year ago hit disco tune..

  • I know the lead singer and the guy playing the bass/guitar on the right. :')

Ray and Ellie. :D They run an antiques business now. :D They're lovely people. x

  • I am absolutely gobsmacked!! I have actually spoken to this lady in the past and didn't know that she was lead singer with Liquid Gold! This was a brilliant song....still is in fact!

Ellie, you're a real star! Pass on my best to Ray!

  • TUNE!!!!

  • Fantastic!!

  • My god those shorts are short

  • great song.

  • TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Naff? Not heard that phrase in a while! :)

  • Such a cheesy guilty pleasure!!!!

  • Dont forget to Dance Yourself Dizzy....love it!

  • A g8 feel good song

  • She got me through puberty when I went to the bathroom as a kid.

  • @staffsmole You need a better imagination lol.

  • @planetrockford

    Agreed !

It was just the fact that she was obviously dirty with her norks hanging out !!!

  • where is the greatest hits album we were promised this year ? you cant buy ANY cds by these guys anywhere...wtf?

  • what was the drummer thinking wearin that vest and shorts combo , horrible. Great song though.

  • Yeau its true, in the good old days true dance songs had soul as well as something that made you want to get up and go, most dance music these days lack the magic of the old classics and this was one of the old classics.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • thats my mums cousin the singer

  • Named after a Brand of Amyl nitrite. But this song will give you an excruciating headache without any Chemicals

  • 竹の子・・

  • love the song but really bad miming

  • I don't think it was a good idea tracing you after 30 years. I remember us dancing to this, god she's a right minger and what has the drummer got on. X

  • I love this song..used to be a disco dancer in my younger days!!....this is such an uplifting tune..swirl around the dancefllor!!!

  • emmon homes i hopwe you can dance to this after makin me look it up!

  • Trashy or not... i luv it !! Happy memories..!

  • luv it!!!!!!!

  • This is not disco. Just some trashy british band attempting to do what the Yanks were doing 100 times better. You have to watch it though its so crap.

  • The drummer Ed Rothe is Jane McDonald's fiance. x

  • @TeamRuthLorenzo - great piece of useless information - lol!

  • @iveco321 i think Jane McDonalds amazing! Do you know who she is?? Come to think of it, that comment i wrote has nothing to do with this video!! lol Jane's hillarious. x

  • great song..iv'e still got a badly scratched 7" copy of this. anyone know where i can download it for my mobile phone..free of course

  • Great song from a great era. Shame they don't make them like that anymore

  • The chord at 0.56 is always intoxicatingly sophisticated. Well done the arranger for that! Nice super-fast guitar strumming here and there too. Beautiful vocals.. hey, it's a masterpiece.

  • @martinjp1958 It's trashy disco music that was about 2 years too late.

  • @hurricaneUK Why watch it then?

  • probably one of the best tracks from 1971 on my fathers label

  • Isn't this one of those very rare feel good songs !!

    ...Love it !

  • amazing that there's a clip for this and not "My Baby's Baby"...

  • Trouble @ The disco? Very few times. It must have been different in Britian. We had allot of fun in America. The trouble over here was allot of people didn't like disco. Today our oldies stations play a blend of rock and disco. Yes drugs were there but it depended on the disco you went to. Hard drugs were for junkies. Pot was the #1 drug used way back then. If you were a trouble maker you were not allowed back in. Most places just wanted everyone to have a good time.

  • Remember this little gem from1980......still in the golden era..this one does make you want to get up and dance....a happier era altogether.....good song too!!

  • she helped me through puberty, the dirty girl!

  • Great memories of this record.Me and my best friend had a proper disco routine to this and had to perform at every family gathering. We can only remember the very beginning now but it was 30 years ago!

  • wow, that drummer is so cool,,, he can play the drums, even though he is no where near them?.

  • Oh SO DISCO - NO E-PILLS OR ANY OTHER STIMULANT TO DANCE! RAY KNOTT AND ELLIE HOPE - MR. AND MRS. KNOTT NOW, IF THAT BE YOUR REAL SURNAME, PLEASE COME BACK!

  • NOW THIS IS MUSIC!!!!

  • This SHOULD be on EVERY 80s compilation CD in HMV!!!

  • Wow. Childhood where are you gone?

  • Well said setheurovision and internetuser1999

I Mobile DJ'd for 9 years back then and never had any trouble even when places were packed with skinheads. Always a great night out with this music.

Oops upside your head, Oddysey, village people, dexys MR, Immagination, I could go on

  • @Cetara86 they were, but people didnt get beaten up for no reason then.

sure there were fights but only for a reason , people werent picked on jus cos they were there

  • darkpanther436. Best to your son, afraid i cant throw myself around the dance floor any more, if i do bits fall off me! QUO FAS ET GLORIA DOCUNT!!! Your son will know what this means!

  • Brill.Brill, loved moving around the Dance floor to this, still do if i got a wee drink in me..lol.Memories,

  • What a song! When this came out I wasin the Army stationed at a training camp outside Weymouth with the Royal Engineers and used to go to a bar outside the camp called the Marquis Of Granby, always playing this tune. Ah, memories!

  • @sappertim1 Hi Bud,I was down Visiting my Son Last weekend whos in the Engineers,28 Regiment.R.E ,i Will be going down again soon, might just pop back into Cambridge for one of those Disco Nights, better wear my Asbestos shoes though, dont wanna be setting the Dance Floor on Fire, hehe.

  • I'm glad to say that there is a massive resurgence in disco right now, putting on a regular night right here in Cambridge..

As for the 'Oh isn't it sad that people use drugs nowadays' comment, I think you might be either a little naive or looking back through rose tinted glasses - there was loads of drug use going on throughout the disco era...

  • Disco (un)cool from 1980, fun track though!

  • hahahahaha...the drummer getting up and mincing around in his pukker red Disco workout outfit is rather spectacular...hahaha....check him mis playing his drum roll hahaha

  • Jane MacDonald's boyfriend from Loose women!

  • really,,, Ed...

  • @lanzodave Yes - that's her man! LOL

  • you just cant help get up to this wen u ear it lol

  • People today have forgot how to have a night out on the town. Today it's all about people drinking themselves too full to have a good time, or (in the case of some unfortunate souls) drugs and such bullshit. People in the disco era knew just how to dance and feel the music.

  • @setheurovision94 lol dont tell me they weren't on drugs you muppet.

  • @setheurovision94 check out the rose-tinted rear view mirror! :D

  • @setheurovision94 You're so right. I'm 42 and have 2 boys of 15 and 16 to contend with,I wouldn't want to be growing up now,the crap they come home with about who's doing what at school etc............no thanks, different generation, different morals, different fuckin' world. sigh. x

  • @mousef16 I bet that's what old people said back in your day as well.

  • @setheurovision94 I concur :)

  • @setheurovision94 You as so right ,It was great fun and we did indeed dance ourselves dizzy miss those times.

  • @setheurovision94 Did'nt need booze to have a good night in those days you're so right

  • @setheurovision94

Yes, I agree with you entirely........this brings back memories of my happy youth! I have actually met and spoken to Ellie and her husband several years back, but didn't realise that they were in Liquid Gold...amazing! I keep watching this video now......I love it!

  • @setheurovision94 yeah, because NY's Studio54 which popularised disco, was totally drug-free, wasn't it...? LOL

  • @setheurovision94 Can you remember when all this were fields and you could get on the bus have a night out get fish and chips on the way home and still have change for a hooker in the morning?

  • @setheurovision94 Yeh right! There were plenty drugs about then too!

  • @setheurovision94 What, people weren't popping pills / drinking in the disco era? Wow, the purity! I wonder at the tales of Nile Rodgers then, arguably the king of disco. Evidently it's all made up! ' The nightclub Studio 54 became a symbol of cocaine-fueled depravity that Rodgers believes has been anything but exaggerated. Dancing, he says, was often the last thing on the minds of regulars.

"Multiple sex partners, tons and tons of drugs — it was all standard fare," he recalls.....hmmmm

  • @setheurovision94 You might be right about taking it to excess but I'm pretty sure people still got wasted in the 70s.

  • @setheurovision94 i dont know wat yer on about im to pissed to read this properly

  • This is so poooooo......but I won't have a word said against it either!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is from a time when discos were still cool places to hang out. Give me an old fashioned disco any day rather than a trendy rave club like Cargo or Fabric. I think the rave scene was totally naff compared to the old style disco scene.

  • I miss them! We had such good times all through the 80s! Revolving floor at the Palais in Nottingham was great fun!

  • The drummer gets up for a dance around 1:45 and the drums carry on playing themslves - very clever!

  • true.pure pop genius.melody, instruments, everything fits perfectly.those violins work so well

  • She looks exactly like Kelly Marie, who also had hits around this time.

  • The singer helped me through puberty in the early 80's....

  • Fucking oats, this takes me back to my school days!

  • I met the group at Ipswich Speedway, Good Friday 1980, they were plugging The Night The Wine and The Roses, which I was given an autographed copy of. The sleeve went missing years ago, but I still have the record.

  • great song but she does dance like shes just shit herself

  • Everything about this is pure pop genius. I won't list the elements, there are too many.

  • The drummer now goes out with Jane McDonald.

  • She looks scary, but she does have a great voice....

  • Snazzy set of shorts on the drummer.

  • Maybe that's what attracted Jane MacDonald.....!

  • Just an excellent tune, enough said!

  • great disco song thanks

  • Adrian Baker production - he was the Stock Aitken Wateman of the early 80s

  • A brilliant song! Them were the days!

  • Yomanda sampled this in the song synth and strings. This is a great tune too.

  • I have the 12 inch version of this tune, good version it is too...

  • Wow this really brings back the memories !!!

    All brill ........ I love it ..

  • This reminds me of my beautiful guy - Yannis - he was into Pink Floyd but indulged me ...

  • she looks like a young elkie brookes!!

we danced our self dizzy on fri night at a jane mcdonald concert!!! was proper camp!!

  • Acid house / rave killed off the traditional disco in 1988. Along with things like larger louts who turned clubs into battle grounds. Sadly the time when you could have a really good night out in a disco with friendly people, good music and friendly door staff is long gone.

  • too true...I wouldent go near a modern 'nightclub' now ,althugh there are one or 2 places in Dublin that play predominantly 70s/80s music, those were the days/nights indeed!

  • I second that. I was there. Man what a difference in the atttitude of people.

People were really nice back then and they were not worried about tomorrow....

  • @InternetUser1999 what the fuck are you talking about? punk killed off disco! acid house was a backlash against the 'traditional disco' you speak of precisely *because* of the lager louts, ridiculous dress codes and meat headed bouncers (can't come in with those shoes on mate)

i used to live near southend in essex and clubs like TOTS used to sweep up the blood and broken glass on a saturday night. when rave came in people were dropping pills but they were hugging each other, having a great time!

  • The chord on 'boogaloo' and 'dynamite' are enough to overcome one...

  • Still a very good song. The songs were about the music and the night clubs.

    Wow how times have changed.

Hopefully the disco will come back around as a memorial to Michael Jackson.

  • signing on t mallo ??

  • OMG!! not heard this for years!! memories...a good song.Wonder what they're doing now??

  • I like how the drummer stand up every minute like he's overcome with disco drumming catharsis or he's got to pass gas.

  • Great Boogie/disco track :)

If you like this, try Yomanda- synth and strings

  • I used to go to disco dancing lessons to this! (This was all he played!)

  • This lady helped me through puberty.

    My legs still go wobbly.

  • Found this by pure accident!!

Brings back memories my mum and dad loved this.

I was only 8 but can remeber it

    Classic late disco song

  • Cor !! She was a bit lovely back then . I dont know her name , or where she is now ?? Bucks .

  • Haha - Yomanda!

  • the sample for synth and strings!

  • Memories.....late 70's. I was, just, starting to get into listening to music. And, this, 'dance-classic' I remember, very, well.

    BEEG CHUNE!!!!

  • with yeh britinpaus, what memories.

  • Brilliant memories. Friday night at the youth club in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. Can of coke for a shilling and a bag of crisps for tuppence. Home by 10PM, up the next day to go watch the footie. I miss my England !!!!

  • like your comment ...but what a classic ...southampton. bliss.

  • The audience look drugged...

  • DREADFUL MUCK.

  • find the shortest nylon rope you can, and hang yourself from the loft hatch. No one will notice, or indeed care. Now get the fuck off my internet you waste of fucking pixels.

  • Dear brhodes. Do you think you ought to lighten up a tad. Truth is, I used to work at the London Hilton in the 80s, which you may know backs on to a lovely area called Shepherds Market. The ladies who worked there used to favour that poodle perm look. Sorry. By the way, the song's rubbish as well!

  • omfg, i used to dance to this as a little girl, loved then and this just brings bac such good memories!!

  • Shame she looks like a prostitute.

  • I dont see many pros looking this good ( not that I look that hard ) Great song thou and I just think this is how a lot of women dressed in the 70s and 80S it was the fashion ( not to look like pros but to look good.

Thanks for sharing such great music.

  • know a few do you!

  • Love this song! Reminds me of school discos. Oh dear, I really am a 40 something :o(
