  • there was that picture with the river and all those pines. i've always wondered about that, but i guess that confirms it(obviously the whole area was wooded, but i just had a hunch there used to be a lot of pines)

  • Such a sad song! If only us Michiganders living other states could come back to Michigan! Thanks all YOU STUPID DEMOCRATS AND UAW WORKER who had to destroy our once GREAT STATE! No I have to live in this once TEXAS sissy land state they now called COLORADO!

  • I searched for this song 25 years (or more), but was so silly to forget the name of the town - I always looked for "Kennesaw' /´Michigan". There is a Kennesaw, but in GEORGIA. Oh, how stupid I was !!! No wonder for such a long search - but I found it !!! TNX 1.0E6 !!!

  • Born in Saginaw in 1977, in Texas now. Thanks for the memories :)

  • Great video and I love this song. I have the original version on a country classics CD. This cover is outstanding. Thanks for the post.

  • I wonder whose picken' guitar on this tune? Great 6 string player!

  • Good song about a city I hold dear, I give my thanks to you gentleman for you bring a little more lite in a geutto shit hole. But love it non the less, it's where I grew up and hope to die and be buried some day, not now thank god but who knows. "Thank god for Michigan" Abraham Lincoln, 1863 I believe it was. Thank god for my humble beginnings in a town where black people are a majority and whites second but great. If it weren't for those fudging car companies leaving , I'm glad gm and crycler

  • Hi Ron,

You did a great job on this fab song.

    I love it !

  • Wow "SAGINAW MICHIGAN" what a song. Takes me back to my days chasing Michigan girs all the way up to Ubley Mi to drag race! I think I'l play it again....and again......

  • THE KING OF COUNTRY GEORGE JONES IS MY FAVOURITE SINGING THIS GREAT SONG I LIKE LEFTY BUT NOT AS GOOD AS GEORGES

  • Thank You Ron

  • i was born and raised in saginaw, yes its a shithole, yes its ghetto, I just look past that and see it in my own way. The ghetto black dudes arent intimidating anyway.

  • I grew up in Saginaw Michigan.

  • Realy well done that was a great cover 5*******,.

  • Wait just one min. that house looks more like one on wildfoul bay.

  • Good job on this one Ron, the emotion comes through in your voice. You do Lefty proud.

  • I was in Saginaw Mi in 1967.

  • Wow, what a great voice he has, that Mr. Warner!

  • BORN AND RAISED...TILL I WAS 18... PARENTS AND GRAND DAD WORK FOR GM ... NOW IN TEXAS .. BUT ALWAYS GO BACK HOME.... CAUSE ITS HOME.. GENERAL MOTORS MADE MY FAMILY A DECENT LIVING... WILL NEVER FORGET Ma!!!!!!

  • Like anywhere, there are good parts of town and other parts of town.

Remember Laura Ingraham's book. that applies to listening also.

  • enough griping - everyplace has changed alot since 1963. Geeze Louise.

Next time I get to Nevada I will look up and see where you are playing before I head out

  • true, a great song, from a great time in saginaw. but times have changed. Saginaw Michigan is now a cesspool.

    Ron

  • Ron,

that was a great performance of a great song - makes me want to chuck my life like the gold prospector in Alaska and marry a great gal in Saginaw Michigan.

Hope there is one such gal left for me as there sure aren't any here in Chicago - home of bitter feminist career women!

  • I lived in Alaska for 20 years and this song is pretty true hoping to stike it rich someday up there. LIke a crazy fool diggin' for gold in the frozen cold and coming up with a sore back and nothin' to show for it.

    Ron

  • sounds like you have earned the right to sing this great song.

I haven't toiled for 20 years scratching the frozen ground of Alaska, but I did suffer two hideous years in the Leonard Stern New York University MBA program, and all I got was a T-shirt.

  • There are plenty of feminists in Saginaw. You're just bitter because you can't get one.

  • I would prefer to get a bad case of The Clap than to "get" a Feminist anywhere, but the Chicago ones have to be the worst.

  • If you like this song, then you would hate Saginaw MI.

Per Capita, it's one of the highest murder cities in the world. Nothing but gangs and drugs.

  • That was really good.

Is Saiginaw Michigan a good place to find a wife now in 2009?

I am a good guy, with some good property in Chicago, don't much care for the Chicago career women here.

  • Thank you for the comment. As fas as woman in Saginaw, I have not a clue as I have never been there. I'm just a singer and not a clue what the woman are like.

    Ron

  • women are the same everywhere. you find a mix of all kinds. altho, here in saginaw, many females are now ghetto.. sadly. Saginaw, Mi... a great place to catch crabs.

  • great cover

  • Thank you very much

    Ron

  • Everytime I listen to this song I tear up. I grew up in Detroit and my father used to listen to this Canadion station. I think it was CKLW. I think we were the only black folks listening to Country. Anyway, I love this song

  • Thank you for stopping by. I'm gald you enjoyed this song and my singing of this old Lefty Frizzel's calssic. I was a little boy when this song was popular. Take care and have a great week.

  • does anybody know what there is to do in or near Saginaw? How far is it from Lake Huron?? Husband has a bus. trip and I don't know if I want to go. Any interesting stuff there??

  • i for real was born in saginaw, not too far from the lake at all, just north/east, your best bet would be to go to bay city probably,

if you want to get to the water. lots of shows

and festivals around, only 1/2 hr to flint, youll find alot to do there too.

  • yea but the fishing is on the saginaw river by rpm auto sales by the river

  • Hi Ron, This was a wonderful rendition of Lefty Frizell's song. I love this video, all the pics are great and your singing is beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing it with me. Take care and God Bless!

    Bill & Lorraine

  • Heh now this is a good lesson about not being greedy =P Heh Father in law got royally scr*wed lol

  • whoever wrote this song obviously never lived in saginaw because he could not have lived in saginaw in a house on saginaw bay because the city of saginaw is not even close to the bay lol

  • woh, i didnt know they had a song about saginaw!

    how old is this song

to bad saginaw is ghetto now...

  • not all of saginaw is ghetto

  • you must not be from the city... saginaw twp is NOT saginaw.

  • naww dude, m 46 and bagley is some preatty nice scenery. dont ya think?

  • Hey I was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan too!!

  • Super job on a super song. ***** and thanks.

  • Another great song, and you did an excellent job singing it...*****

  • awesome

  • TYVM you did a great job

  • Yupp. I was born and Raised in michigan couldn't be any right lol. Michigan Michiagn my hOme state. Susie

  • GO BUCKS!

  • One more thing on my comment here. When we do this song in a club, our bass player jumps up to the mike and does a little bit about how damn cold it was when he visited Saganaw. He talks about the ice fishermen, and stuff and makes it a little more fun. I honestly love the song, and I think your voice is much more suited to it than mine, but I do it anyway, because it love it so much. Marc Trainor.

  • Ohhhhhhhhh........i grew up about 20 miles from Saginaw and your bass player couldn't be more right.......i still miss it though....it's better than Florida anyday.

  • born raised and still living in saginaw workin at delphi and i dont know how you could think its better than florida lol

  • i always wondered about the writer myself but having lived 7 years in hot dirty smelly and expensive florida give me michigan anyday with all it's problems.

  • Ron, you did a bang up job here!!!. I sing this song in our local country music band, and I love it to death. It's a hell of a "phrasing" type song, but I still love it to death, and I love the background singers you have on the cut. Also the pictures go right with the song. Good job. Marc Trainor.

  • i live in & LOVE MICHIGAN, LET'S NOT FORGET OUR GAL IN KALAMAZOO,OR IT TOOK FOUR DAYS TO HITCHHICK FROM SAGINAW.JIMMIE DALE GILMORE HAS A GREAT REMAKE OF THIS ONE.

    JEFFERY
