Computer Software Tips : How to Repair Corrupted Files

It worked for me and I'm computer illiterate! Yes, there was a message that said, "Corruption on Local Disk C". However, if you read the instructions, it says to restart your computer and Disk C will be checked at that time. I did it and was able to open my document file with NO corruption. Microsoft had installed something new during the night that had corrupted my file.

Yeah..If you have a restore point from day 1 which most of us dont make cause we're too eager to use our new pc's..lol .I think there's a free program somewhere that will do all of them for you in 1 shot. I just use system restore b4 installing or uninstalling programs.If system restore is corrupted,would'nt it be best to just do a factory reset?Thanks anyway.God Bless! We gotta start doing restore points at least twice a week.It only takes a sec. Why are we not doing them? Schedule them.

@TMBlackCat bcause the system restore can't change your private datas such as emails, documents and... pictures. If your pictures got damaged, to restore the system won't help. By the way, maybe your pictures are still ok but any system codecs are broken. Also important: depending on what restore point you've chosen and how far or near the point was from the last state of ur system, even the error might be stored and gets restored later as well. Copy the pics and check them out on another pc.

I can tell you guys that I had a corrupt file, but I fixed it by opening it on notepad. after that I could open the regular file. Even if you can't open the regular file you may still be able to open it on notepad, if all else fails. That can be a alternative if you have a corrupt word document. I'm not sure if the document is no longer corrupt, but at least now I can open it so I can copy it or print it out. Anyway, I hope this advice helps you.

In this case i would say eather you format a partiton or your hard drive is corrupt in anycase theres not much i can do via the internet to help you so..i would suggest haveing a friend help you or a pro!

In all honesty, a system restore does not really fix it... While a system restore bascily just goes back to an eariler time... Just masking, or hiding the problems... If anything, if you are getting problems with windows...

Do either a system reformate, or a complete formate to fix the files...
