To mina44..I have read ur comments and i can see some wwhat of ur point becuz people here in America always turn the other cheek and say they dont "pity" Africans becuz we have some problems of our own in America with poor children. but my oppinion is not like yours i agree with everyone we should acknowledge the proverty and poor kids and bullying in South Africa. Becuz they dont have anyone and it is us "people" who can make a change in the world!!!
Perhaps, but I didn't even mention how I think their topic of child bullying is a moot point to even cover. How is child bullying or neglect in any way an issue isolated or native to South Africa? Then again, it is just 5 mins, 18 secs.
It's a shame that Americans pity poor foreigners so much. We have the same problems right here in the US that need aid! Why doesn't JourneymanPictures go to a lower-middle class school in the southern US? There are dirt roads there too, but no money for school uniforms. NO ONE talks about or reports on the low class areas of the US.
That is too true. But how often do we hear about impoverished, starving people in Africa versus how often we hear about poor, impoverished people in the richest, most powerful and generous country on the globe? My point is- how does Journeyman Pictures expect me to pity these children when I grew up with classmates who went home to worse conditions? Cry me a river.
So you don't pity starving people in Africa beause there are starving people in your own country ? That's a very selfish logic, why should journeyman make a documentary about poor people in America and not Africa ? They are not an American company or anything.
Trollfinger, at your first sentence: Don't be stupid. My idea is to not be selfish, but to have Journeyman Pictures create "good" journalism. Maybe, if, within these brief 5 mins 18 secs, they were to add the child abuse and neglect issues discussed in UN policies, and issues of such cases going on in other parts of the world as well, I'd have more respect for this video. But plenty of other children in the world are constantly hungry and abused. Why should I "pity" South Africans when it's here
I'm not talking about the federal government's definition of poverty, where if you have one television in your home, you're considered below the poverty line. I know what you mean. However, there are at least thousands of people here in the US who don't have access to plumbing or electricity in their homes on a daily basis.
Mina44, the folks that submit videos for journeyman come from every nation. This documentary is from SA by a SA. The story is not about pity of poverty. It is about child abuse and bullys. And as to hearing about poverty in rich nations, you never will. the pretense that we are all rich is what helps folks feel superior to everyone else. It is what got us in this economic mess. Look at Japan. You are just now hearing story's about the poverty and crime that has long existed there undercover.
You're right. I also thought the subject of bullying and child abuse was ridiculous. This exists everywhere, and I'm sure if sudies were done, they'd find the majority of people go through it in their lives.
You mean these documentaries don't just materialize out of thin air?
Then Lens, and the Cameras, and the plane fare, and the food, and accommodations to create these films don't just materialize for free at the behest of the producers?
Deducing that since you've used the word "mate" you're likely in an Anglophone country which means that you should know the difference between your and you're.
Unsubscribing from this channel. I'm tired of seeing ads for their documentaries and not the documentaries themselves. Goodbye. Thank you for what documentaries you have shown.
The off-site link doesn't allow you to watch the documentary for free. There is a monthly subscription.
Journeyman documentaries used to be free on Youtube and now they aren't. It is very unfortunate and they should be free. I've unsubscribed to this channel a long time ago for this reason. If you want some good, free documentaries online, I'd recommend PBS: Frontline, Youtube Channels (Nova is great, to name one) and TED talks.
journeyman sucks. I purchased a 1 month subscription and realized they hide all the new movies until the subscription runs out so that you have to renew to watch more. This policy is not wise as I will never buy a long term subscription again.
@narezul thats not the way youtube works....besides, the films only cost 1 Euro to rent.... thats quite cheap considering you get entertainment and support what i believe to be a good cause; Journeyman helps spread knowledge and covers stories that are not typically covered by 'western' media.
valid and true. i thought once you got a certain number of hits they paid you? like 3 cents a hit? and indeed its interesting and unreported and its news which is why it should be provided i mean how much bill o rielly and the rest of this democrat vs republican, forget whats important new or happening, hustle can i stand?
The reason Journeyman videos cost money, and not the Fox News clips on YouTube, is because Journeyman's videos are mostly the work of Freelance nes/video producers. By "renting" the movies for a tiny fee, you help pay for those reporters to make more videos. Fox News clips are free, because they're originally broadcast on TV with advertisements. If Fox put them online only, they would make no money and go out of business (I wish!)
Journeyman isn't on TV, so they must request a fee.
@crock703 That needed to be said, but sadly too many people have become spoiled from Youtube. It's easy to find most things for free these days, even products that cost money - for example I'm sure I could find this full video for free in a matter of minutes. It's childish to demand a product for free, people should be grateful for freely getting any full-length videos at all.

To mina44: I note your interesting comments.
Surley then the task, for those of us who can help, is to stop the poverty and abuse.
It's time to move to a global Resourced Based Economy.
