1.make 2 saves

2.always save on the bottom one so that they keep cycling around

3.save often so that you only ever loose 10 mins max

Ramsey was probably a quest character which you weren't supposed to kill. I don't have this pack, but generally speaking all characters with an actual name in Fallout are important to the gameplay.

Also, try saving once and a while.

I think that he might be a slaver from Paradise Falls in the game but I'm not sure. I think he's part of a quest where you have to enslave some people from around the wasteland.

you only have one auto save file and it overwrites whenever you enter a door or anything.

I've learned my lesson before in Oblivion and Morrowind mostly, one time I was playing Morrowind for like 6 hours straight and then jumped really high and the game froze, lost 6 hours of work. @_@ The massive RPG kinda game tends to bug I think, but since this is already known to be buggy...saving often is a good decision XD
