With his touch, technique and harmonic talent Andy can be perfect playing 1000 notes for minute or only one note. The most complete rock guitarist of world.
cpu master...listen to the solo in the prayer the answer and then say his playing is emotionally shallow! Andy's playing evokes the most emotion of any other guitarist with that level of talent thats why he's so amazing and awesome to listen to..so i couldnt disagree more!!
@Oliverwarren...Not " Flaming" you , but that was a truly emotionally shallow comment , obviously based on one song..Check out Gone..Electric Gypsy..Falling Down...THEN see if you have the same opinion of his emotion..Peace~
My favorite. He took the time to pose for ppics with my son and his band a GC..Talked to us for about 15 minutes..Great guy. No wonder he is my favorite
God, the guitar isn't dead, destroyed by repetitive shedders playing the same things over and over and over... Andy Timmons is here to compose some creative music for us!
I first heard of Andy when he was in Danger Danger around 1990. Even in the context of a cheesy pop-metal band he was still insanely good. This song sounds like a guitar laughing out loud, if such a thing were possible. Just amazing...
Timmons is ...wow! I don't really dig the chicken pickin' thing when that is all a player does. But, man, to break the tension of a set to throw that in? Timmons is awesome, man...I would like to hear the song leading into it. I will go see him somewhere, someday. Does anyone know if he plays B'ham, Bama much?
Actually, while he is an amazing technician... what I do love most about Andy is his sound. It is very versatile but still very unique. I really like the sounds of guys like Satch, Vai et al, but I'm more and more digging into being a little bit more free in style and sound, like Andy, Guthrie Govan or Bumblefoot. (okay, I play like shit compared to those guys, but hey, always get inspired by the best :D)
I've seen both play live. As a pure chicken picker, Brad Paisley is the man and doesn't get near the respect he deserves.
This song isn't really Andy's genre of music, yet he can just do it really well because he's just phenomenal. I've never seen someone play with such emotion and feeling. Reminds me of recordings I've seen of SRV. You really have to witness Andy live to fully appreciate.
There's no need to compare Paisley and Timmons. Both rock. Love them both.
As much as I like this, and I really do, it's not particularly musical. A rehash of some bluegrass riffage mixed up with typical jazz rock fusion wankkage. Some tasteless scales and general hysterics... which is awesome but not as intelligent as Mr.Paisely
@ZepIV I am by no means a Brad Paisley fan boy but check out his mostly instrumental album Play: The Guitar Album and you will realize he is literally one of the best country players around today
For the 2 people who gave this video a thumbs down, I should personally come hunt you down and rip your balls off and shove them down your fucking throat. How can anyone not like this? Seriously. Andy is fucking amazing!! THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE WITH ME...
@CPUMaster500 His guitar playing skill is immense. Doesn't make it nice music to listen to though. Completely emotionally shallow to me (entirely subjective though so don't flame me ...)
Andy is amazing. Boy do I wish Jason Becker could still play. He was amazing too. Check out VoVa666 here on you tube. He is from Russia, but the guy can really play. Did a great cover of Govan's Waves too.
The chorus sounds reminiscently like that very fast lick from Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, played I think by Marty Friedman. Ability like this also reminds me of composer and virtuso violinist, Paganini, and how people thought he was in league with the devil because of how fiendishly clever and outstandingly amazing his ability was. How does Andy's left hand not get tired? I'm impressed on all levels.
killer performance by all THREE musicians...bass tone/fills and drums are great too...
for all the rock shredders out there...this stuff is harder to authentically pull off than you might think!
give it a try...it's a completely different set of hand muscles and motor skills than alt/sweep picking to keep that constant string of notes going AND swinging.
Brent Garsed does some AMAZING non-country pick/fingers hybrid picking that's really cool too...check him out.
@buddaman1971 "Brett Garsed" and also he DID, he doesn't do that stuff anymore.
This is probably one of the few shred DVDs I have that I will never watch again. Thought it was bland. Ear X-tacy was the highpoint of Andy Timmons for me, without another guitar backing or at least an accomplished syntheziser the licks kinda run into one another and most of his improvisation just boils down to a bland mixture of otherwise fine phrases.
Sorry, i wasn't really clear with that. What i meant was Vai has an incredible talent, and im sure if he put his mind to it, he could do this kind of thing.
@koshiaru you really think that pro guitarist show all their licks to the audience?
vai has his style, and he use the tecniques related to it..but is obvious that a monster like him can use every tecnique..he plays from decades..if he has nothing to say with the chicken pick he doesn't use it
No , I know they all hold back to their own signature , but what I meant is I don't think vai would ever want to play country , so I don't think he would have practiced country a lot. he may be able to do it , but he probably will never give any evidence that he can.
im not saying i am any better, i am saying it is tasteless. check out some brent mason and compare the levels of taste and skill. see who comes out on top.
i pesonally think this a great example of fusion of styles. I think he pulls off the country licks while adding some jazzy stuff, some bluesy bits, and even some good ole 80's shred particles
Wow......he's taking country licks to the next step...putting arpeggios...open strings....its the closest thing you can get to fusion...but still keeping the country feel in context....but dang, he's fingers are fast....i could barely reach the normal tempo for the song...haha...

4. When copyright infringement wasn't a big deal?
