  • Just as others have posted, I liked the drawings with the vid. Heading back to Mn. to fish the area I spent my summers when much younger. Looking for the big one....or two....or three... Thanks!

  • well done ! i'm glad i found this!!

  • @albertansportsman Thanks for the comment. Yes, northern pike are pretty good when fried and you don't stab yourself with bones every time you take a bite!

  • The drawings where very good. Much easier to understand where the "Y" bones are compared to an actual fillet.

  • good vid. but the best part is frying those fillets up....maaan they are good.

  • Is it the same for a pickerel.? I just got back from a trip in Maine, caught a ton of pickerel, only ate one because of the bones.

  • I am fairly certain it is the same. Pike and pickerel are both species of the genus esox.

  • @refinisherman im sure its a little late but yes its the same way.... when are u comeing back up here?

  • Really nice mate! The diagrams helped out quite a bit

  • Yeah, Practise makes perfect, and perfect is what this video shows, Everytime I get a decent fish ( That's actually big enought to keep ) I try my best to fillé it and eat it. Too bad I don't get fish that often. But Im getting better, and better, much thanks to this video. Like I said... This is great! :)

  • I remember the first few times I tried this I found it to be a bit tricky as well. But with a little practice you get it down. I guess you will need some more test fish which means you need to get out fishing :)

  • Thanks for the help. I wish it were that simple. I have pike parts all over the kitchen! I did manage to get some good meat though! (northern lower MI)

  • Really helpfull and very usable. Great!

  • Thanks for the nice comments!

  • Your videos are good, but Northern Pikes are nasty. I always toss them back with the faith that the next hit on my line will be a Walleye or even better Lake Trout (right). Love BWCA. My favorite place on the planet. Best Lake for Trout: Ogish

  • Well, yeah. I think if I were in the BWCA and could get walleye I would throw the northern back as well. Walleyes are much easier to fillet and a little better to eat. When you camp, you generally only keep what you can eat anyway.

  • Thanks for vid, this will help me a lot.

Sharpen that knife though, makes me nervous just watching that.

  • good vid, thanks for posting

  • good easy instructions cheers mate

  • Byfar the easiest one to understand on this site, thanks, 335

  • nice vid, i like the drawings. thanks

  • Thanks!
