@thevisi0naryy Agreed there mate. In my age group, I'm one of the few people that know this game exist, and when I showed to them. their reaction was "WTH, you play those kinds of games? You must be a hipster then" And I'm like "It's part of my freaking childhood man, what's wrong with you?"
My idiot baby brother stuck this inside the VCR and scratched the life out of it... good thing I beat it and cried at the ending before it was destroyed... but I've lost an epic piece of Squaresoft history! D:
If you keep an eye out, you just might find this game where you least expect it.
I found my copy at my old job, after digging around in the donation bin in the back. It was missing the demo disk, but who cares about that? It even still had the instruction manual.
Though, this may be just due to my devilish luck. :P
I picture a big life changing adventure waiting, dangers may await, but the perseverance through it all is what defines the journey, not the outcome of it. If it is a bitter end, so be it. If it is a sweet end so be it.. The journey was fun.
I MISS THIS GAME. I never got to finish it as a child... It's what got me started into fantasy games.
Wow i was a kid when i play this and i cant find this game anywhere i want it so much , and thanks some much for the upload on this song its been in my head ever since i played this game the first time XD
Here's an idea: remake available on all the consoles (no one should miss out) with a graphical overhaul (though not to the point that it causes slowdown or ruins the game's style or spirit) and the original voice acting, maybe with some bonus dungeon or content. I would like that from Square so much.
I got one question... (It is because I haven't played Musashi on the PS2) Is Musashi from "Brave Fencer Musashi" on the PS1 the same with the Musashi from "Musashi the Samurai Legend" on the PS2? (Well, I think not.. but for some reason, I want to know more..)
Back in the late 90's, many had Ocarina of Time. For the rest of us, there was Musashi. And it still kicks ASS!! Nothing against Zelda, but Ocarina of Time made me go to sleep around the beginning of the Spirit Temple. :P At least in this game, the protagonist gets powers when he climbs higher to the truth!
Fun Fact: Did you know that Brave Fencer Musashi was released on July 15, four months before the release of Ocarina of Time? OoT may have been popular, but this is the realer deal. >:3
God this was during my high school years, I love this game so much.. this was back when Square was at the top of their game.. I'd pay twice for a remake of this game... XD
sad how the squeal ended up so badly... we ended up with some.. odd looking character with like.. some kinda punk look or something.. i dunno.. i wish we could get a REAL sequel.
Farce-like story to the game with a smart ass kid as the main character while many other chars in the game fit funny stereotypes (like the "dumb blonde" princess and the overly-zealous idiot Kojiro as Musashi's archrival). Voice overs were cool, too.
Stuff like that makes a RPG less stiff so BFM was a classic!
@TheDarkHero5 I was always lead to believe he was a kid. He sure had the patience of one. Oh but that description fits me too, and I'm an adult. XD It could really go both ways. Either way, Musashi's awesome. :D
One of the best and most representative games of the SQUARESOFT - ERA. Good God, I can't help but think how amazing this one was...neat gameplay, funny story and characters, great soundtrack and it had an AMAZING VOICE ACTING for its time... too bad no more games like it are made on this days
I remember many a night syay up with my big bro and listening to this. as we play, Brave fencer, tomba, FF8....jeez the 90 had some truley golden games
This game's EVERYTHING is made of epic. The soundtrack, characters, battles, voicework, environments, opening scene. EVERYTHING. REMAKE IS IN ORDER. but uhh, keep the music exactly how it is..
totally agreed, Musashi Samurai Legend wasn't as epic as BFM, if square enix realise that and makes a remake for next gen consoles, the whole world will be a better place to live
@shithoagie of course, I rather have a funny strong midget than a surfing samurai impersonator, and the worst part was the final boss, I took days trying to beat the final 2 bosses in BFM, but I took 5 minutes to defeat the last boss in MSL!! and then I have to hit him once to kill him, and it was just matter of timing than action. and that'ss bullshit
@SantuXD6 I want those old games to give back the soul to the new regeneration! This is what`s missing nowdays.... THE SPIRIT LIKE THE CLASSICS! God I miss those days
@SantuXD6 DEFENITLY we should have a BFM for PS3 and XBOX OR SOMETHING that would be insanely epic. brave fencer musashi has a great, splendid storyline, TOP 5 best games i ever played :P
@ragnaroksama specially when BFM is actually available on PSN, sadly is only for japan :( square enix should definitely consider remaking this game only with better graphics and a few little tweaks in the storyline (the rest is fine), or at least make the game downloadable for all the world. Is one of those games NOBODY should miss
This game is in dire need of release on PSN. Granted, I'm not complaining since I still have my copy of the game, but it'd be nice if Square at least remembered it. I mean, come on, they even released Xenogears in Japan!
Yea, for the PS1 i think besides metal gear solid VR missions theme this is the best music on the console. Music in games now usually isn't that great...
"Shoot! Why do I have to do this!? What the heck... I'll get my paycheck, and then I'm outta here!!"
I said, stepping out of the car and walking through the parking lot to my busboy job, 'Legend of Musashi' playing in my headphones.
True story.
