  • It's crazy how talented Russians are.

  • His goal celebration kinda reminds me Ovechkin's=)

  • the thing about sweedish players in the NHL is none of them are good their first year, it takes time for them to develop

  • lol!

  • tobias enstrom was pretty damn good his first year as i recall

  • oh okay I didn't know, thanks for the info

  • size wont matter with this guy hell take it hes no wimp hell take lessons from ovechkin and toughen up b4 the nhl he knows what he needs to do and will be rookie of the year over stamkos

  • damn if he drops the canucks should take him, unless boedker is still available, maybe even hodgson

  • the problem is though this guy is too small and needs 2 gain muscle, unlike boedker hoo can make impact next year

  • filatov will be a top 5

    boedker is a top 10.

trust me, we (canucks) wont get filatov unless we make a trade

  • That's no worse than Ovechkin celebrating. He deserves to celebrate after a goal like that. as long as he doesn't celebrate every goal like that, I don't think of him as selfish.

  • give the kid a break he scored a nice goal, what does celebrating have to do with teamwork?

  • Everything. Its a team game, he scored a goal for Russia, not Team Filatov but instead he skated away from his own guys on the ice including the defenceman who started the whole play by giving a great stretch pass. It shows selfishness and that he's more concerned about jumping around by himself than celebrating as part of the team.

  • Mercury your being absolutely ridiculous and hypocritical. So according to your logic Sydney Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Doug Gilmour, Gary Roberts, Jerome Iginla are all selfish players because they celebrate after scoring a nice goal? I havent seen you comment on their videos regarding how selfish they are. This Don Cherry mentality of "europeans are selfish" and "they cant win in the playoffs" is just bogus and prejuidice bullshit.

  • ??? Please stop wasting my time. I am a Euro so don't give me crap about "Don Cherry mentality" and prejudice. Stop trying to represent my view point because I don't think any of the above players mentioned are selfish. Learn to understand what people mean instead of just reading letter for letter what someone writes. Watch their celebrations. Its not the fact that Filatov celebrates. Its the excessiveness and individuality of his celebration. You should really think twice before posting again.

  • I think its you who should think twice before posting because your embarrassing yourself with how much you contradict yourself. Who the hell are you to judge the way someone celebrates and tell them if its right or wrong? Who are you to say that he is a selfish player based on one celebration? He's a 17 yr old kid who got excited about a goal, you need to grow up!

  • Do me the courtesy of learning the English language. Do you even understand the meaning of contradicting? Just because I have a different viewpoint from you does not mean I am contradictory. Show me one example of me being contradictory and don't give me that bullshit about Iggy, Crosby and Gretzky because that was your misrepresentation of my argument and one of the crudest logical fallacies I've ever seen in my life.

  • Furthermore, I have every right to criticize Filatov for his celebration just as you have the right to run around making wild and unsubstantiated accusations about things and people you don't know or understand. My opinion is not exclusively based on this incident, I've watched Filatov for quite some time. And yes, he is a 17 yr old who got excited but thats not an excuse. You don't see all 17 yr olds (even those playing at very high levels like Filatov) celebrating like that, its just arrogant.

  • So your telling me Crosby doesnt celebrate in such a manner? Think back to the winter classic when he scored the shootout winner. Please explain what was different about those two scenarios? I understand that it hurts to hear the truth sometimes, however that doesnt mean you need to cry like a baby everytime people dont agree with you. Let this be a lesson for you in the future.

  • ??? Fine I give up. If you can't see the difference thats your problem and I'm not going to bother. As for this: "I understand that it hurts to hear the truth sometimes, however that doesnt mean you need to cry like a baby everytime people dont agree with you. Let this be a lesson for you in the future." Only two words come to mind; lame and desperate. Please grow up.

  • Nice move but if I ever did a celebration like that I would be ashamed to ever show my face in public again. Hockey is a team game kid, score the awesome goals and let everyone else rave about how good you are, you don't need to remind everyone with show pony antics.

  • Relax, uptight Canook.

  • Let's put it this way, you would never have the opportunity to do a celebration like that...

  • How is that relevant. If we only ever spoke or commented on things we had personally done right down to ridiculous details such as same tournament, level etc (which you seem to be implying) then it would be a very quiet world wouldn't it.

  • It is relevant because you have never experienced that kind of rush of accomplishing something so magnificent, so you couldnt possibly understand what is going through his mind.

  • And you are in no position to know that kind of stuff. Once again, stick to what you actually have an understanding of and you'll do much better. I may never have played as high a quality as Filatov it doesn't mean I haven't scored important or beautiful goals. Its all relative, what an NHL player would consider normal would be like heaven for most of us.

  • Ok well it wasnt me who was taking cheap shots at a 17 year old kid. If you believe that scoring the winning goal in a pick up street hockey game is similar then your sadly mistaken, and perhaps you should be the one who sticks to what they know, which obviously isnt hockey. Anyways im ending this because once you enter into a conversation with a fool, first they bring you down to their level, then they beat you at their own game, because they have more experience at it.

  • Fine with me. First its not street hockey. Just because it was in a DivII doesn't make it worthless. Second how is criticism a cheap shot. Thirdly, stop trying to turn other peoples calls back on them, its the kind of thing that if you pull it off well its awesome, otherwise well ... Fourthly, you really brutalized a great saying, I hate you more for that than wasting all this time calling me an idiot, hypocritical etc

  • sick move

  • he is a new supertalent!!!!!!!!
